Beautiful converted 17th century stone stable in the heart of the Isle of Wight

5 miles from beautiful Yarmouth harbour, 6 miles from central Newport and 9 miles from the renowned yachting hub of Cowes, Stable Cottage is located off the main road in rolling farmland, with distant sea views.

Set in the grounds of Elm Place, Stable Cottage offers double and twin bedrooms, both ensuite, an open plan lounge and kitchen/ diner. Finished to a high standard, whilst retaining a warm, homely feel, the cottage is the perfect get away for up to 4 people.

Enjoy a barbeque on the patio during the summer or snuggle up around the log burner in the winter, the Isle of Wight is the perfect destination at any time of the year and the cottage is the perfect base for exploring.

Local attractions include The Needles, Blackgang Chine, Ventnor's Botanical Gardens, Osbourne House and Carisbrooke Castle to name but a few. Discover the Island's dinosaur heritage, visit one of many wildlife centres, enjoy a festival, or try a new water sport at one of many beaches. A fantastic, roomy property in a beautiful rural setting. Sally was really helpful at check-in as the postcode doesn't quite match the location and tricky to locate in the dark! The property is furnished very tastefully and equipped to a high standard too. TV, bed and shower all very good. A few handy welcome gifts too including, tea, coffee, biscuits and washing up things - thanks! Would definitely recommend.

Very warm welcome, best place ever, spacious, clean, furniture very good condition, and very tastefully decorated, huge field on property for dog to run around. National trust 2 miles away stunning walks , in fact the whole island is covered with walks in the country side.

Such a beautiful place to stay with thoughtful touches like an extra stairgate added for our little one and a high chair which we were very grateful for! There was also a crib but we had brought our own. The house was beautifully clean and so welcoming and only a 10 minute drive from Freshwater bay. The whole stay was peaceful and quiet and we had a lovely time!

Fabulous host, cleanliness, comfort and location. Really great meeting with host whom over our stay was exceptionally kind and helpful. Property was for us and our dogs like home from home. Would willingly have stayed longer if we could and certainly return if we visit IOW again. Definitely a 5 star plus. Thank you to everyone involved with the property.

Lovely comfortable family friendly accommodation

This is a lovely house, spacious and comfortable. Open plan downstairs which works really well for families, stair gates and travel cot for little ones, and space to run around outside. It's in a really nice quiet area which is well placed to access the rest of the island. Very close to Freshwater Bay. My girls loved Skye, one of the resident dogs who came to visit! Sally, the property manager is super helpful. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Stable Cottage Easter break

The property was clean, spacious and comfortable. There were two lovely bathrooms attached the the bedrooms and an enormous kitchen with all the utensils you could wish for.The location was peaceful with a field in which to walk the dog and a little football pitch for the younger members of the family to use when they visited us.The cottage is ideally located between the Yarmouth and 'Middle' roads meaning that you can reach birthstone Forest, Mottistone Down, Brook or Compton beach one way and the excellent Shalfleet stores, Newtown and Yarmouth the other. Near to Newport and Freshwater if you need a big shop.The best thing about the cottage was the friendliness of the owners and the fact that your dog could be off the lead in and around the cottage.Could not recommend it more!

Lovely stay in a fabulous location and comfortable, spacious cottage

We returned to the cottage after our first stay last year because it was so lovely and comfortable. This time we also used the cottage next door for our grandchildren, who absolutely loved it. The cottage itself is in a great rural location but nevertheless only 10 mins drive from a supermarket and Freshwater Bay if you need a takeaway or food. It's also just a quarter of a mile from a bus-stop to Newport in one direction and Yarmouth in the other (if you don't have a car) so therefore ideal either as a personal retreat or alternatively, a central location to travel to other Isle of Wight attractions. We had a wonderful stay and once again as per last year, were greeted by a wonderful host - thank you! I look forward to staying at the cottage again next year.

Ideal location

Great location for covering the island particularly West Wight that we live. Property was great - had everything you could need. Only negative was the metal framed single beds,creaked a lot and the mattresses were uncomfortable. Doesn’t detract from a great break though.

A peaceful retreat

An really enjoyable stay in a peaceful, spacious, modern cottage. Kitchen equipped with everything you need, comfortable sofas, and a large widescreen TV. Clean throughout, and plenty of outdoor space to exercise dogs...or kids! Would happily stay again.

Beautiful area, peaceful and very comfortable, especially the queen size bed! Everywhere was clean and the kitchen was well equipped. We arrived to a very warm welcome and felt at home straight away. We would highly recommend this property.
