Very clean place, great atmosphere, helpful staff, good location that is a little quieter than the ski villages but not too far out of the way either. Will definitely be back! I forgot my jacket there and the staff immediately helped me out by mailing it back
This was a terrific hostel, with great attached restaurant and sister restaurant next door. Easy walk to onsens and local ski hills. Great lounge space for after the hills close. Could use a vending machine or two.
A clean property with bunk bed rooms. Each bed has curtains for privacy and a lamp and electric outlet. The property is two floors. The bathrooms, showers, and some hot water heaters for tea, etc, are on the first floor. The guests were mostly under 30 from their looks. And there is a restaurant in the lodge where the included breakfast is served and dinner can be purchased. All the staff, except in the restaurant were native english speaking.
Very confined space. Felt like I was on top of people trying to get around. If you don't have a vehicle you are limited to what is around you. No kitchen to cook your own meals. Was difficult to find a place to relax. The bathroom was out of hand towels for a day and both toilets where out of toilet paper. Breakfast was great and the gear lockers where great as well.
Booking the stay through Hotels.com is a mistake. The rate is lower when booked directly with the property.
Condition of the property was not very desirable and should be improved upon.
This was a great Lodge with a super helpful and friendly staff.
There is really nice common area and the breakfast was perfect for a day on the mountain.
The drying room was incredibly appreciated.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
This was by far the most expensive hostel I've ever stayed at, so maybe i was expecting more because of that. Overall it was a good little place but throughout my week there i was disappointed about several things. they did lots of construction that would have been nice to know about beforehand, the bathrooms smelled awful(possibly because of the construction but still), the staff was very nice but they were only there about half the time i needed to ask questions and it wouldn't be ridiculous hours i needed them, often times it was only like 4 pm??? the hostel restaurant was very good but very overpriced but since it was the only option around they kinda gotcha with that. breakfast was good but lacked diversity, especially when japanease breakfasts could be an option in japan. i was thankful for eggs and fruit every morning but by the 6th morning i was craving a little vegetables or something else besides greasy bacon and white toast. the last thing i have to mention is the morning i departed, i asked them where to be for my bus to the airport, they specifically told me "the moiwa lodge"next-door, but it was really the "lodge moiwa 834"which was a street up, i almost missed my bus because of it! However despite all this, i would consider staying here again cuz everyone was really nice, it was a cozy place, and i feel like i just caught it on a bad week. i would probably prefer to stay at the moiwa lodge next time though.
