A vacation ruined
I rented based on the two five-star reviews which were clearly written by either the owners or the owner's friends.
This cottage is located in an alley. An ALLEY! Not across from the park as mentioned in the description. The view from one porch is a junk pile from the neighbors next door. The other view is two rundown multi-family buildings. I booked this because it was close to the skatepark for my kids. Behind this is a vacant lot, not the park. Outright lie on location.
Urine and dirt on the mattress pads! Absolutely disgusting. Clearly if they're not washing those they are not washing the blankets, pillows or anything. There were large urine stains and tons of sand and dirt in the beds.
We were constantly killing flies and ants. It was non-stop. Management company dropped off ant traps and fly spray then basically told me good luck.
All of the furniture look like it was stolen from the dump. All very old and worn and mismatched. It was furniture you find at the side of the road for free.
I booked 7 days. I left after 2 days. Management was extremely unhelpful. I told them I needed a new place to stay because this was not acceptable. They replied " It's July, what do you want me to do about it?"
Rather than tolerating this, the closest open rental I could find was in Long Beach Island, NJ 4 hours away. We left very early on Tuesday morning.
The owners didn't offer so much as an apology, discount, or refund.
Shame on them. Don't ever book this place.
