We rented this place because we had a timeshare in the building for 20 years before we moved out of state. It was late September when we stayed and the average nightly cost was $710/nt. (after all fees/tax). During the off season, I would have expected a clean and well-kept home for this price, but that was not the case.
We walked in to find the closet door (in the entry area) off the track. I couldn't get it back in and the door would constantly open itself up.
The master bedroom sliding glass door wouldn't pull open and could not be used.
The lights/fan didn't work in the master bedroom. One of the lamps worked, but the other lamp next to the bed wasn't plugged in, and there was no socket within reach of the cord.
The inside of the entry door and some kitchen cabinet doors were filthy, and we wiped them down. The potholders in the kitchen drawer were covered in food. I ran them through the washing machine.
The entire dining table was sticky.
There were several stains in every area where there was carpet. It was not just stained, the spills were never spot cleaned. There was lint and dirt on the carpet in general like it wasn't vacuumed or the vacuum wasn't working. There were big wrinkles in the living room carpet.
There was a towel hanging on the hook on the back of the master bedroom door, and another one on the hook on the back of the bunk bed room door - both seemed like somebody's used towels. Also, there was a wadded-up mattress pad on the floor of the bunk bed room closet.
The queen bedroom had no fitted sheet, just the vinyl mattress cover.
The "clean" towels in the hall bathroom had a few long dark hairs stuck in them, they didn't smell clean and when I picked them up, I found a dead fly underneath. Also, there was a big wad of gunk behind the trash can in the bathroom. Later I decided it was probably someone's dryer lint.
As I washed the towels, I noticed the laundry room had a basket full of towels that were dumped over onto the floor next to the washing machine. I'm not sure if they were clean or dirty. There were towels folded on the laundry room shelves, but then there was stuff, including a sock sitting on top. I'm also not sure if that was clean or dirty. And there were 3 empty bottles of laundry detergent sitting on the floor.
I have stayed in many rentals, and have never left a negative review before today. The general feel of this place was gross, it looked like it should have been a dirt-cheap low-level rental. The beach and location were great, but I was embarassed that we invited our friends to stay there with us.
