Very convenient for central Oxford with good bus service. Very friendly and helpful staff and amazing fresh fruit at breakfast. Very comfortable room- quiet and spacious
Four day stay whilst visiting son at university. Location ok with bus service very close. Communication from hosts prior to our stay was really good. Self checkin (late around 8pm) was easy. Breakfasts were nice with lots of fresh fruit and eggs etc.
Room was very dated and bed headboards very dirty. Curtains ripped, pillows could do with being replaced.
Walls are very thin so could hear what was going on next door. Towels not replaced until asked and then no hand towels provided. TV didn't work but that didn't bother us too much.
Room does have kettle, tea, coffee etc.
A little noisy with street noise but not too much.
Good enough for the budget traveller as Oxford quite expensive place to stay.

The property itself is nice and the staff is very friendly. The breakfast is very limited. My bed was a little hard and the room has no heat so it got cold. The wifi was really bad.
Mark the manager very friendly, and carried luggage upstairs. Room was clean but the decor is dated, threadbare and stained carpet, uneven floor. Sheets were clean, but the mattresses were very old with springs poking out, leaving us with back aches. Bedding old and worn, Tv didn’t work at all.
On the positives, continental breakfast was very nice, fresh fruit and good choice of cereals. Obviously this place is in great need of refurbishing, front entrance and garden untidy and not appealing.

The property was clean and in a convenient location though the property was rather dated and could do with some new carpets and some TLC. The light in our bathroom was not working and seemingly hadn't been for some time as there was a torch in there. The fruit and cereals for breakfast were lovely - but the hot food available was limited. Our key was left under the doormat on arrival along with a welcome note.
It was okay, toilet flush was not good , no glass , just couple of cups for tea, no place to keep shampoo in shower , had to be kept on top on a thin strip .
I never stayed in a B&B before and this one was old-fashionly cute. The staff was friendly and very helpful. In the breakfast room you have a choice of cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit which you get yourself and toast, eggs, coffee, tea which is served to you. This is a straight drive to the main tourist areas of Oxford. The bus is right outside but we drove. There’s a fridge and coffee, tea in the room also. We stayed two nights in August 2025.
Mark, the manager, was very helpful in all respects and made me feel welcome & went out of his way to help me with booking a taxi and other requests. The B&B is beginning to show its age, but was located in my preferred area of Oxford and close to the bus stops. A little more breakfast with a more choices would have been nice - but overall, I had an enjoyable stay.

This place was old and very run down. The rooms. Were incredibly small with only one chair which was way too big for the room. The sound of running water was constant. The hall way smelt odd and the service especially at breakfast was less than acceptable, even thought the offering of tea, coffee, fruit, toast and eggs( upon request only) was reasonable.
The room was very basic, A massive update is needed. Shower very basic and just not very good. Everything is old and noisy. The walls are very thin and you can hear other people in their rooms. The walls are so thin I could even hear someone in another room snoring at night.
Owner was very friendly and accommodating but unfortunately it was just too basic and I couldn't recopmmend this place or stay here again. The Premier Inns are not much more money and in my opinion way worth the extra.
The most disappointing thing for me was the fact that breakfast was advertised however I was told it would be boiled eggs and beans if wanted otherwise it's continental. For the money I at least expected a full breakfast. I think that is bad advertising.
Sorry for the negative comments but I stay in a lot of guest houses and hotels and this just was not a good stay.

Very helpful and welcoming staff.
Traditional, well-cared for decor. Very clean. Excellent bus links.
Quiet surroundings, overlooking garden at back.
Would have liked option for more cooked items at breakfast -especially porridge.
Despite the manager kindness and the good breakfast, this guesthouse doesn't worth it at all. The first night we were given a room where the single bed was broken and it clearly just didn't happen(my 5 yo daughter couldn't lie downn without folding the mattress), the carpet was so ugly it glued my feet and it was so noisy I could guess the brand of every car in street!
Second night after complaining we had another room which was better but anyway this is so old and broken I don't understand the 4 stars it's a complete lie!
CH is a wonderful place, very comfortable and cozy style. The host is a very friendly and welcoming guy and the location is good. The only issue is that the walls are thin which makes neighbors staying up late a bit disturbing, but that is the way with so many houses in England
Stayed four nights in single room in Sept 2020. Room was clean and quiet, and the host was very attentive and helpful. Only minor complaints were that the wifi cut out a few times and the parking lot is small, and thus required some maneuvering to get in and out of. But you're within walking distance of Summertown shopping, and a short drive into downtown Oxford. Will definitely stay here again. Thanks!
