Management & owners of the property are one in the same-owner Stuart Scull). The property was outdated, cluttered, and most importantly, not ready for rental. We booked reservation for 11/18-24/23; paid deposit 8/6. Deadline for a 100% refund was 10/17. On 10/21 VIP charged credit card for balance due. 11/15, 3 days prior to check-in, VIP emailed me denying access to the rental unit until I signed a contract. No mention of a contract required in the rental property listing, at time of booking, before the 10/17 refund deadline or 10/21.The contract was threatening in tone and replete with fines. I consider it dishonest on VIP’s part to present me with a contract after the 10/17 refund deadline. Had VIP been honest with me from the start regarding the contract, I would not have rented their property. VIP advised me a contract had been sent via Adobe Acrobat on 10/30. I did not receive a readable document from VIP until 11/17, which I signed so I could have access codes on 11/18 to enter rental. The dishonesty and resultant stress were unnecessary. Arriving 11/18 at 10:30pm, finding there were insufficient towels; notes pasted throughout rental stating what we should/should not do; icemaker was locked/unusable; Keurig coffee error displaying “needs cleaning” (grounds in brewed coffee); kitchen trash can inoperable; freezer door light displayed “need to change filter"; and right front eye of gas stove sputtered. 11/21 we discovered oven was inoperable (error light displayed “F11 heat error”). We realized at this point it would be impossible to prepare a Thanksgiving meal. With that no longer possible, we vacated the rental on 11/22, notifying VIP we checked out 7:00am, explaining the issues detailed above and advising VIP the unit should not have been rented, and requested 2 remaining nights refund.
