Take It or Leave It
This apartment is essentially a take it or leave it proposition. The owners, who obviously live there frequently, rent it on a short-term basis without inconveniencing themselves in the interest of the comfort or convenience of renters.
The apartment has several features going for it that may, for many people, outweigh the disadvantages we experienced in taking it. It is well-located, spacious, quiet, and secure, fashionably, if uncomfortably, furnished, and has nice views.
The apartment lacks amenities that are typically provided in short term rental apartments costing far less than this one. The vast majority of closet and cabinet space is sealed with blue tape and off limits. The main bedroom does not have one drawer or shelf for clothing. The second bedroom has, for storage, a single small shelf in a hanging closet and a small “pencil” drawer in the small desk located there.
The beds in both bedrooms are covered with winter weight duvets. The management would not/could not provide alternate bedding. One plastic trash bag was provided. Imagine a kitchen with one coffee cup, no soup or cereal bowls, no bread knife, no salt, no food storage items.
Had we known about these inconveniences prior to booking, we would have considered them in evaluating the cost/benefit of renting this apartment compared to others.
