“Our family of four, including two teenage boys, loved our stay at Chachagua. We enjoyed seeing different wildlife every time we stepped outside our rooms. The hot springs were amazing after a day of adventuring. The breakfast was amazing and the staff were kind and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.”

“The grounds are really beautifully laid out and the looks amazing. The room had a ton a nice little touches and was very well put together. We ate breakfast in the restaurant and it was a great buffet breakfast with some of the juiciest, softest mango pieces I have ever had. It’s a little outside La Fortuna (15 min drive) but that’s the appeal of being next to the jungle! And this is a great spot to enjoy it.”

“The Retreat is gorgeous. The views of the Volcano and Lake are amazing. The pescatarian menu is perfect for vegetarians and pescatarians. All three meals are served. We did not have meals included but very much enjoyed dinner and breakfast there. The pocket sized gathering places are charming - slider over looking lake, dining room and reception, the separate lounge area with tea and coffee looking into the jungle. The evening walk was fun. The property is on the top of a very steep hill……

“The property itself is beautiful and well maintained. I really enjoyed the trails and bird watching tower. Everyone on staff was amazing as well. Reception was so helpful in planning my itinerary and arranging transportation. The on site tour guides were knowledgeable and passionate about their work. The food was delicious with lots of vegan options. My only minor suggestion for improvement is that the spa should be moved away from the pool area as it gets a bit noisy. Overall though, I loved……

“The staff at the property were lovely and accommodating. Those who greeted me and showed me to my cabin actually assisted me with my overly heavy bag so I would not ruin the wheels on stones. My spot was small, cool, and what I needed to get away. I was traveling solo and access to small pools, a cute little balcony and pool table/entertainment area were nice added options. I recommend if calling an uber you stand at the end of the entrance rather than at reception as pick up will be……

“If you were only staying for one or two nights in Chachagua, then this motel might suit you fine, please be highly aware of their nonrefundable policy. I made the mistake of booking this hotel for two weeks so that I had a homebase for my entire stay in Costa Rica. When I realize that I was not very happy staying there, I was unable to cancel or get refunded for my unused nights.”

“Fabulous experience. if you want the wild/lodge experience but still a staffed hotel with a bunch of services then this is for you! We were in the middle of the wilderness, with birds and sloths on site, but still had room service/clean up and buffet style breakfast and a pool! Absolutely recommend. good distance to all the sites/activity but far enough from the tourist trap that is la fortuna!”

“We had a wonderful 3-night stay at Oro Verde! Everything was in excellent condition and the place is very well-maintained. We loved the fact that when we arrived the property had a nice pool that we weren’t expecting, so it was a great surprise! The property is located in a quiet and peaceful area surrounded by nature and at the same time the location is incredibly convenient, just 15-minute drive to La Fortuna. Our experience was great from start to finish!”
