Incredible host and stay

Ashley was an incredible Host, she was always available ahead and during our stay for anything we needed. The place was great, the location great as well!

Could have been better

Impression of property was generally favorable, nice, clean, quiet, although there seemed to be a lingering, slightly unpleasant, cooking odor left over from previous tenant or maybe seeped in from the other unit. Pre-stay communication with host was rapid but once waited a day for a response. Upon my arrival, she had not yet sent the access info as prearranged, so I had to ask for it. When I entered the unit, it was directly into a dark bedroom where I was shocked to startle someone awake! After another 1/2-hr of waiting in my car, I finally got the correct info for my unit along with a quick apology to chalk it up to holiday chaos. Shortly after getting my luggage inside, I heard a strange sound and turned around to find someone walking in on me! It was the host's mother, there to straighten out the mix-up and to reprogram the other unit's lock. She was apologetic and nice. She later returned to fix the TV when I couldn't get it to work. Later I found movies to watch but they only continued to "process" and not play. When I tried the next day, the TV wasn't working again. So 3-night stay with no TV. The mother told me earlier that she would be joining the host in Chicago for the holiday. I chose not to bother them again. VRBO experience not good: website difficult/confusing to use - message suggested booking not complete, stay info came day after booking; host said I ended up with 2 accts (maybe interfered w/ host communications?); survey glitches prevented changes; etc.

Evening basecamp

Excellent start of day, end of day location. Nearby shops and restaurants are easily walkable in a vibrant neighborhood that make the start and end of each day a reason to explore. Property is a restful retreat after a full day's activity.
