We enjoyed our stay , close to the beach. We were able to bring our dogs which was great The oven was a little tricky cause the mob isn’t on so u have to kinda guess at temperature but everything worked out. Will definitely stay again
We had a very nice time at this cottage. It had everything we needed. The location was perfect for going to Caseville. I would definitely rent this cottage again.
We needed a location that wasn't too warm, allowed us some summer fun (beach kayaking etc) and time together. This house was perfect for everyone. Lots of fun and love had by all!!
My wife and I were looking for somewhere to take a quick 2 day beach break with our dog. This place was perfect! The house was clean, the property and beach were beautiful and neighboring Caseville offered great food and shops. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return next year. Thank you :)
We had a noce long weekend in Caseville and this little cabin on the lake was great. It has a beautiful private beach. Everything you would need for kids to play in the sand. Town nearby has everything you need and more. Very private. The home is an older home but taken care of ao well. We had a great time and will definitely be back.
We have stayed in Caseville for the past 40 years at 2 primary properties and have been trying to find our next primary. This home has ranking opportunities. The water is nice and shallow but not as clear as the "other side of the point" but nice accommodations within the home. We will be returning.
We all enjoyed our stay; we were right off of the beach; there were improvements on the cottage from when we were there from a couple of years ago. We had to contact owner re: mixed wires about when we were arriving-she was extremely easy to get ahold of and within a few minutes the problem was rectified. I was extremely impressed with her. It is a lovely cottage; there is a very private feel about it. We would come back again; this was our 2nd stay there.
We stayed Friday to Monday. The weather was great and the water was warmer than we thought it would be. For people who have a hard time walking, like myself, it was difficult. The approach to the beach looks easier on the site and not so much of a hill. However we did have a great time. The one down side is when we opened the place up, it was very musty.
We have come for the second year in a row . Our goldens love the beach , it’s very clean and has a great beach feel . Windows a litt hard to open and close but otherwise we enjoyed our stay
Our family enjoyed a nice relaxing fun weekend at our own beach and patio fire pit!!The cottage was equipped with everything we needed. On the other hand a few minor details , as an older couple the walk up the hill was a little hard but doable and there is only one queen bed the other rooms had twin beds which was fine for us but other couples may not like that. Overall we would rent again !!
Clean. Comfortable. All amenities perfect. Nice deck with firepit table and chairs. Only drawback because of my age was a steepish hill to the beach. Had a great time. Water is as clear as a bath. We'll be back THANKS.
nice quiet neighborhood, most of the neighbors were welcome, birds yes, bees not so much, deer yes, bats only when they stayed outside, same as the ants. most everything we needed was supplied but left a few items that will be helpful for next tenants. Had a memorial time thanks for that, looking forward for next year.
The beach is lovely, lake shallow and the water clear. House is comfortable and clean, some window cranks are broken, and some electrical outlets don’t work. An outdoor hose would be most welcome to hose off feet and the dog when coming up from the beach. There is a handrail to assist the inclined walk to the beach. I would recommend more lighting in the house and some info from the owner about about the Caseville area. A very enjoyable stay at the property!
The house was dated but nice. No a/c but that was never an issue since there were plenty of fans. The windows need some maintenance/replacement. Upon leaving there was one window we couldn’t close completely. We would love to stay here again though. We loved the location and the beach was peaceful. A little spider/bug spray would do wonders here.
This was a great cottage for a relaxing trip to the thumb with my parents, their dog, and my dog. The place was clean, comfortable, and had beautiful views of the water.
The property was very private despite being close to neighbors. The beach was clean and the water was shallow and clear. We enjoyed spending some time on the beach.
There is a steeper than expected hill off the back patio to get to the beach, which isn't shown clearly in photos and was tough for my 65YO parents. There is a railing on one side though and we made it work. The patio had a nice firepit, grill, and table/chairs.
Inside, the cottage is quaint with the perfect amount of rusticness. The listing photos do not do justice to the beauty; the windows, wood beams, and openness add to the charm.
There was a great breeze from the windows and plenty of fans. Tons of seating and sleeping options.
As for having dogs with us, I have no complaints. They loved the beach and since the floors are tile I didn't worry about them tracking sand inside because it was easy to clean up.
It's a short drive to Caseville/Port Austin/Bad Axe so families staying here have plenty of entertainment/dining options. Caseville and Port Austin have lots of dog-friendly dining options.
Overall we were very pleased with our stay and would definitely recommend this place to others.
Overall the house is very nice. A bit dated and a little small but worked for us just fine and the price point reflects that. Check in and Check out couldn't of been easier. I would love to give it 5 Stars but there are just a few tweaks that if made, could make this a standout property. Even with the cons listed below - we would stay again.
Pros:
For the most part very clean - need to address cobwebs in corners, ceiling, windows - and big window in LVRM needs to be cleaned.
Kitchen equipped with everything you'd need except a cutting board??
Bathroom remodeled and very nice
Beds were comfortable
Nice Washer & Dryer
Plenty of Linens supplied
Patio & Patio Fire Pit
Location
View
Beach
Cons:
Outside of house covered in spider webs and dead bugs
Tree on patio full of spiders that love to drop down on you while you're enjoying your morning coffee - Suggest taking that tree out (and I hate to cut down trees) and trim the trees in the lower yard up so you have a clear view of the bay or just add a patio umbrella to the table and the spiders will drop down on that?
Patio chairs are uncomfortable without cushions
Steps or better graduated approach down to beach area - yard is pretty steep - you can get down there easily enough but older people or anyone with bad knees would have an issue.
80% of the window cranks do not work
We had a great weekend at this property.
The beach was great and the house was clean and roomy.
I didn't realize the steepness of hill to the beach, so just keep that in mind when you're booking.
We have returned for multiple stays and will continue to do so. Owner is super responsive and easy to work with and the location is amazing!

Probably will be my first and last time here....
The experience was okay. The house was clean, but the floor could use a cleaninh overhaul. So much sand everywhere. Went to bed with sand on my feet. The place was so hot with no air conditioning. Worse of all, no wifi. Looking at the pictures gave me the impression that the neighbors would be far away from each other. Neighbors are too close. In conclusion..I wanted to get out of the city and enjoy a peaceful country stay. However, it just felt like being in the city with a beach in my backyard
An earlier review is absolutely correct that the pictures do not do the location justice. This is a fantastic spot. This year was the first time we ever repeated a stay at a VRBO location and are super glad we returned. We plan to return again next year for our third stay at this property. It is perfect for our family, people ranging from age 1 - 56 and our Golden Retrievers!
Cabin is super cute, clean and cozy! Having morning coffee on the patio while looking out on the lake was beautiful!! Location is absolutely great. Worth very penny! We had a wonderful stay and cannot wait to book this spot again!
Nice location. Cottage needs updates to electrical outlets that were not working in bedroom and kitchen. A few windows did not open and close properly. The property could also use bug spray to control ants and spiders.
We wanted a place on the beach that was pet friendly. This was the perfect spot . The beach was nice , house had lots of room . Caseville is close by also. We would have liked to have a bonfire but it’s so windy and it’s close to house . Maybe they can have one on beach ?? Otherwise no complaints
