"The hotel from outside was simple but once you go inside the doors I was impressed how well maintained and clean it was. The rooms are large and immaculately clean. The area has everything you need to walk to , restaurants, cafes, sites. I felt very safe staying here. They open the front door and lock them when you need to leave. Very friendly staff. They even made us breakfast to go and coffee for our early morning flight."

"Hotel Plaza Grand was an excellent choice. If I return to Quito I will definitely stay here again. It is located in the Historic Center. It is in a pedestrian area but it was no problem. Our driver got out of car and went to bellman at hotel and bellman came and got our luggage. Short walk to front door from drop off. Arrival was on Sunday and they close off some of the streets. Our driver was persistent on getting us as close as possible to drop off and he succeeded. Such kind and helpful hotel staff and people in Quito. Our breakfast was included and we could order anything on the breakfast menu. Staff proficient and willing to please. Walk out front of hotel door and pedestrian street lined with beautiful art work locals had on display for sale. Located in Independence Square and across from the President’s Palace. Restaurants near by. You will love your stay here. A lovely location. Felt very safe."

"The loveliest one night stay at Friends Hotel. Checked me in as soon as I arrived even though it was many hours before check in time (greatly appreciated as I was so tired!) Clean, comfy room with a balcony giving views up the mountain. Delicious breakfast with great views from the rooftop. Couldn't be more accomodating. Wish I had stayed longer, will definitely be back!"

"WiFi was decent but did break up sometimes. Friendly staff but often didn’t have information such as once I asked about laundry and the staff wasn’t sure and didn’t try to help and find out. It’s a budget hostel, good value for the money in the city historic center. You can walk alone at night u til about 830-9pm. Uber is plentiful. Decent traditional restaurants around within walking distance. Hostel is quiet except for the construction - so be mindful if you take naps or sleep in behind 8am. There is no refrigerator to store food and the staff wasn’t helpful about it. Bathrooms are small but completely updated. Hot water is warmer but not super hot. Pressure is good. No elevator. Narrow stairs. Extra blankets available if you need it."
