Progreso Family Hotel

"We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Caribe and found it to be a very convenient location in Merida. We were only a short walk from Plaza Grande, with excellent access to the transit system, nearby museums, bakeries and restaurants, and markets. The hotel is well maintained, clean, and comfortable despite it being fairly old. We appreciated the free refill water jugs on each floor, the main level garden, the pool on the upper floor, and the rest spaces along the corridors (chairs and tables). Our room was clean and spacious, with a small but functional bathroom, good AC unit, and good wifi. We did unfortunately get a cockroach in our room, though it was dying (likely from pesticide) by the time we saw it. Our in-room safe worked well, and the mini-fridge was very useful. The front staff wasn't particularly friendly, but they were polite. We were able to get some beach towels for free as long as we returned them, which was greatly appreciated. We would definitely choose to stay at Hotel Caribe again considering the excellent location in central Merida, quiet and safe location, and reasonable amenities."

"We originally booked a room with one bed, but upon arrival we found it was a corner room and felt dark and small, with a small bed. We chose to pay for an upgrade to a double bed room, which was much larger and brighter. The arched design feature is very interesting and adds charm to the room."
