Overall my family and I had a great time while staying at Bakour Suites, but the resort definitely has some positives and negatives. Positives: I would give the food an "OK" rating. The buffet has standard resort-buffet fare and it was good. The specialty restaurants were ok. FYI the "Asian" and "Italian" restaurants are in the same building but change each day The pool is great. The water was nice and the chair/umbrella setup seemed to work well. We typically walked out between 8 and 8:30AM and there were always chairs available. Bartender/Waiter Braulio (sp?) was great and worked hard bringing drinks to everyone throughout the day. The entertainment staff was fun..."Julio MC" and a woman whose name I cannot remember did make an effort to interact with everyone. Negatives: Three main negatives...1.) The facility and rooms is/are in major need of repairs. we had a three bedroom suite with two showers...one of the showers had a broken handle and would not turn on. It was not fixed we let them know within the first hour we were there. The air conditioning randomly would stop and start working each day. 2.) The resort is VERY understaffed. I really felt like they need to double the amount of people working there. changing over tables in the buffet, room cleaning/fixing, and bartending service is very slow because of this. 3.) The beach at the resort is a small marina and not swimmable. You need to walk next door which isnt very far but slightly annoying

The amenities in the rooms could be nicer - the shower did not get warm and it just dribbled. But the mist disappointing thing for me was the beach in front of the hotel - the water isn’t blue - though it is elsewhere on the island. It’s right next to an eyesore tourist trap called Dolphin Exploer. And many ships dock in front of the hotel.

Bakour is a beautiful resort and location with wonderful staff, but not well kept. The rooms are not clean. We had two issues of leaking in bathrooms and had to be moved. Rooms clearly had a mold and mildew smell to them. Each unit has a hot tub, but none work. Had to request housekeeping come to our rooms in order to have our rooms cleaned and towels refreshed. We were offered something for our trouble, but all they wanted to give us was a bottle of wine that was already part of the all inclusive. The food is ok. Breakfast buffet is basic and same everyday. Lunch options at restaurant were awful. Dinners were good, but need reservations to enjoy. Servers: Carlos, Johanna and Rafael were terrific! Joan in buffet was so kind! And the younger gentleman (can’t remember his name) making coffee at coffee bar every morning was so happy and lovely! All were very gracious and believe me when I say, if you are willing to tip it goes a very long way!

Upon check-in, the first impression was good: a huge loggia, a Jacuzzi, and a pleasant view. However, during the first day we discovered several issues. The Jacuzzi was not working, the window shutters would not rise, the hot water was barely warm, and the exterior door would not close, leaving no privacy on the loggia. When the Wi-Fi in the room went out and was not fixed until the evening, we asked to change rooms. The second room was fine overall, except that during rain, water leaked under the front door and flooded half of the room. The hot tub does not have heated water and can only be used during the day to cool off from the heat; in the evening, the water is too cold to use. It was also very unpleasant to see broken furniture lying in the hallway near our room and a garbage area in the neighboring storage room, the door to which was always open. On a positive note, the staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. There were algae on the beach, but the hardworking staff cleaned it daily, and our beach was one of the best compared to neighboring hotels.

Property overall was clean with nice rooms. Beach had murky water not very swimmable. Pool was nice but inconsistent with the drink service. Bar was only Classico for liquor. If you wanted anything else you had to pay. For example for vodka, Smirnoff, absolute or any low brands were not included there was an up charge. A few times I asked for a mixed drink and they were out of the liquor. There is one restaurant and one Buffett with limited options at the buffet. Staff and service overall was good outside of the reception area which had terrible customer service.

The first two days, we had no towels and I asked the front desk to send someone to get towels and they didnt come until 8 pm. The process of reserving the restaurant is complicated and only a few spots are open. There are barely any activities in the resort and the food is bland. I would not return to this location again.

A very quiet resort with nothing to do, not enjoyable for young adults. Some staff were amazing and some could not provide a 5 star service for a 5 star hotel. Buffet food is good but restaurant food was awful and there’s only 3 other cuisines for restaurants which are poorly managed. Drinks were also watered down and basic mojitos were poorly made.

So I could probably write a book about how terrible this place is. When we arrived we waited in the lobby for approximately 45 minutes. When I finally got to the front of the line I asked to speak to the manager because it’s ridiculous to be standing in the lobby for 45 minutes with no beverages offered to the guest. The answer I received was “well this just the way our check in process is” no resolution. Once we got to the room at first glance it looked beautiful. However, as we settled in we realized that the place was NOT properly cleaned. The floors were greasy, there was hair in the shower, and the lint bin in the laundry room clearly hadn’t been changed in 10+ guest. The floors have cracks and discoloration in the bathroom. Hairline cracks in the bathroom mirror. Then we ordered room service and the dishes sat there for 2 days. Despite cleaning service coming to clean they never actually cleaned until our 2nd to last day. The lady came in with a simple garbage bag and picked up our trash then left. Lastly, the food is horrible in the buffet. I’m from Chicago so I know good food and nothing about it was good. The only good food is the speciality restaurants. Fruit was not ripe. Rice not fully cooked. The care put into the food at the buffet is abominable especially considering how many people are back there cooking. Why no one is taste testing things before bringing them out I don’t know. I could keep going but I ran out of words. Don’t go.

More options for food. We didn’t have much options for food as we are vegetarians and majority of the food we could get was either pizza or fries or salad would be nice to have some options like salmon or shrimp tacos.
