Stunning Temple Tree House, pool! Romantic Beach Getaway on 1 acre

We just finished our new pool with large decks January 2020.
Just steps down to the beach with your own outdoor shower. Fully renovated in 2022. Large queen bed and linens. Bedroom has it's own large deck with hammock and chairs. Full deck outside the full louvered glass front of this True Island getaway where you enjoy the soothing Caribbean breezes. Everything is screened of course. Open concept living area with fridge, stove, microwave, toaster, blender, French press. Another hammock and table and chairs on the front deck for hours of privacy reading and sleeping. There is a BBQ kitchen used by both houses. We ask you to clean the grill when finished it is ready for others use.
Go snorkelling off our dock with the snorkelling equipment that comes with the rental, to one of the most stunning reef formations in the Caribbean. (second largest reef in the world). The dock is used by local kids occasionally. It’s fun to watch their antics! We suggest snorkelling with the dolphins at Anthony’s key a short walk.
The use of two single and one double kayak, and paddle board are provided for our guests. We can arrange island tours, sunset cruises, water taxi and snorkeling tours with enough notice. We also have someone for airport service there and back and a grocery stop.
This a one acre private property with Casa Cowee as the main house and Temple Tree house high off the beach The houses are designed to catch the breezes off the water so the use of AC is really not necessary. In fact I normally have to use the light weight duvets. Sunsets are absolutely the most stunning from our home.
This is a one acre estate which is lush with many fruit trees including lemons, limes, mangos, bananas, avocados, nuts etc.
The property is gated with a private circular drive around a massive Mango Tree and in the back there is a towering Rain Forest LeCeiba Tree that takes your breath away.
Just one to two minutes walk to 4 great restaurants and three fun bars. Including Guava Grove where you can catch daytime entertainment and use their large pool with a swim up bar. Great food! 10 Min. drive to West End which is filled with restaurants and bars to step it up a pace. Or you can have our property manager hire a private chef for a night. There is a produce truck that comes by every other day if you ask Jose he can have them stop in our drive.
Everything for a true island experience.
This property is located 75' away from the larger Casa Cowee VRBO listing #126086 So if you are looking for space for up to 9 people. Rent the whole property.
Ask Channin our property manager for pick up and drop off at the airport along with your grocery stop. He will quote you.. There is the best health clinic just minutes walk at Anthony's Key Resort and they usually fill prescriptions there.

My husband and I absolutely loved staying at the Temple Tree House! Everything from the decor, to the multiple balconies, cool breeze, ample sunlight, having a full kitchen, the location, view and being surrounded by nature was what we needed to truly relax. The owner Suzanne was so welcoming and friendly and was the ultimate host ensuring everything we needed was taken care of and even invited us over to the larger house for sunset with a few friends and other visitors. The Property Manager, Jose, is also very welcoming and super helpful and even called the local produce truck for fresh fruit which was way better than what’s available at the stores. Jose also brought over fresh eggs from his chickens when we arrived. They both made us feel safe, taken care of and able to relax and unwind in the treehouse space. One of the property cats, Jack, immediately befriended us and we loved having his company daily as we missed our pets at home. We are avid scuba divers so it was an easy walk down the beach to Sandy Bay Divers who we definitely recommend for diving. The Bahia and Sunken Fish restaurants are also walking distance and both have great staff and food! Everything was very convenient from this location and we loved the homey and rustic feel rather than a large resort and the location just far enough yet close enough to the main tourist areas. We would definitely return to the Temple Treehouse and recommend this relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of life!

Unexpected Adventure

Our vacation started off unexpectedly as we had two separate issues with our flight that delayed us into Roatan by 2 days. That didn’t matter at all as Suzanne was so very gracious and allowed us to shift our dates on the spot to allow us to stay at the beautiful Casa Cowie Tree House for the same amount of nights. Suzanne and Jose are WONDERFUL! Their communication ahead of the stay and especially as we went through a terrible experience with our flight, went above and beyond. Now for the beautiful Casa Cowie property. We enjoyed every moment in this beautiful place. It is rustic and modern and amazing. Tucked into enough of the trees to get a jungle feel while being right on the water with amazing sunset and morning views. We even had dolphin shows available to us throughout the day from Anthony’s Key Resort!The location on Sandy Bay is quiet and beautiful and within walking distance of the amazing Spa Ban Suert and the Sunken Fish, our new favorite restaurant on the island….for now. :)In almost 11 years of marriage this was our fist chance at a honeymoon and the Casa Cowie Tree House along with the graciousness of Suzanne and Jose combined of course with the beauty of this island and kindness of its people made for a perfect second visit. We are already putting together the list of things to do for our next visit!

Can’t miss with this house.

We stayed at the temple treehouse for four weeks in March and April, 2025. The location is all you could ask for if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist towns. While there is a small amount of traffic, both cars and scooters, on the beach road in front of the house, I think the horse traffic taking tourists for a ride outnumbered them.. Down the beach about 100 hundred yards are two very good restaurants and Anthony’s Key Resort is walkable and on the other side of the house but out of sight. The kitchen is well-equipped and there are sufficient towels, beach and bath. There is an AC unit in the bedroom but never used it at night; on particularly hot/humid days, we would take refuge in the bedroom for an hour with the AC on. We would recommend having a car for grocery shopping, playing golf, and visiting other beaches. The snorkeling in front of the house is good both inside and outside the reef. We found the best snorkeling at West Bay, but go early to avoid the cruise ship crowd. The best fruit and vegetables are provided by Jose’s (the onsite mgr) friend, Oscar. More expensive than store but fresher and much better. In short, you can’t miss if you want easy beach access, a location away from the crowds and a lovely little house with a killer view.

Fantastic Snorkeling and Tree House adventure

this is a beautiful property right on the water with it's own dock. The Tree House was great and had everything we needed. We snorkeled every day, swam with the dolphins and loved the coral reef just off shore.I hope we can go back. Great food at Blue Bahia and Sunken Fish 4 minutes up the beach. Also had a great meal at Anthony's Key restaurant. If you get a chance, BOOK IT!!

What an incredible property! Wonderful owner and manager. The location is hard to beat. Swim or kayak out to the reef or over to see the dolphins at Bailey's key. Excellent food just down the beach. We also prepared our own food with the grocery store within walking distance. Sunsets! High enough off of the beach to limit biting bugs. We paid for a snorkeling and fishing trip which we I wouldn't do next time. I might feel differently if we had caught anything ;) Certainly, the snorkeling within swim distance was equal to the snorkeling trip we paid for. All that to say, it's EXPENSIVE to pay for trips, and you can have a similar experience at this property for free. If you get the chance to stay here - do it. Just wonderful.

Already Planning to Return

Our family of 9 with ages ranging from 19 to 75 stayed for the last week of June at Suzanne's piece of paradise. My SO and I stayed at the Temple Treehouse several years ago and loved it so much we wanted to share it with our family. We rented the entire property - Casa Cowee, Casita, and Temple Treehouse. All of the rooms were clean and comfortable and the group appreciated having lots of space to spread out. We especially loved time on the main deck at Casa Cowee and the upper pool where a beautiful sunset view could be enjoyed while sipping a cold drink and floating in the cool water. The kitchens are all well appointed, even for a group as large as ours, and the propane grill is great for cooking out. On nights when we chose not to cook, a 5 minute walk up the beach took us to a great beach bar and grill where they knew us by name by the end of the week. We took advantage of the snorkeling equipment several times and enjoyed exploring the reef off the dock right in front of the house. We also used the kayaks to explore the nearby shorlines. Jose did an absolutely awesome job taking care of us during our stay. Without ever being intrusive he was always present when we needed his help, beginning with welcoming us on arrival and helping carry our bags and groceries up to the houses. He responded happily to our every request, no matter what it was. Mom especially loved walking the property with him and learning about all of the beautiful landscaping. Can't wait to return!!

Truly Paradise

We enjoyed our stay at the Temple Tree house! The views of the ocean and sunsets were spectacular! The kitchen had lots of utensils, pans, glasses and a variety of spices! The grounds keeper, Jose, was so kind and gave us fresh eggs from his chickens and fresh bananas, yum! Channin and Kimberly, the property managers were also very kind and helpful. It was nice to snorkel right from the beach too! We truly enjoyed our stay at the Temple Tree house and the people of Roatan! Thank you for a great experience!

Relaxing and beautiful location on the water.

My husband and I spent 10 nights at the Temple Tree House. The owner and staff took great care of us. The kitchen and outdoor grill were perfect for cooking. It was great to be able to snorkel, paddle, and scuba dive with a local dive shop without getting in a car. The pool is refreshing and the tropical vegetation around the pool and grounds is beautiful. We drove into West End a couple of times but we were happy to get back to the peace and quiet of the Temple Tree House. It was the perfect spot for us.

The Treehouse is a beautiful place with a spectacular view! The reef is stunning and the water is crystal clear. Just the perfect place for our honeymoon! José, the groundskeeper, is amazing and makes sure to help with any needs that come up. We will definitely be returning!

Beautifully designed and appointed house built high on a slope above the water. 52 steps down to beach, dock and great snorkelling just beyond. Lushly and densely planted grounds: hybiscus, palms, almond and several other varieties of trees. Very private (in contrast to the zoo at West Bay and West End). Great view of sea and sunsets from well shaded deck. Spacious bedroom and bath. Second deck off bedroom which we used to dry our snorkeling gear. Friendly owner and resident staff. When we come back to Roatan, this is where we will be.

Amazing property

This property is beautiful, the grounds are amazing. Truly magical. The lodgings are a little more rustic, but we loved the adventure in it. Above and Beyond - Outstanding!

Casa Cowee, located in West Sandy Bay, is a unique and charming place to spend some down time and truly get away from it all. We stayed in the newly renovated Temple Tree House and were absolutely delighted with it. The brand new kitchen was a great spot to cook and hang out at the big beautiful butcher block island. The kitchen comes fully equipped with everything you need to whip up everything from morning coffee (Honduran grown and roasted) to great island meals of locally sourced fish, fruit and vegetables. Jose, the property’s caretaker, regularly provided us with treats of fresh eggs and fruit, as well as always being available to help with whatever we needed. The Tree House is perfect for a couple or single person. The large bedroom has a very comfortable queen size bed, plenty of storage, smart TV and walk out to a very secluded side porch, perfect for yoga sessions. The front deck has an amazing ocean view and the lush foliage surrounding the house provides privacy and shade as well as a sense of peace and tranquility. Louvered windows on three sides of the house allow the free flow of fresh ocean breezes but there is a very efficient AC unit for those extra warm tropical nights. There is a dock for swimming and snorkelling as well as a plunge pool with deck and lounge chairs for cooling off with a private drink. We enjoyed exploring the little nearby beach community with a couple of decent restaurants within an easy walk up the beach. We found Sandy Bay Dive Shop to be a great place to dive with friendly, highly professional staff. West End and West Bay are within a short drive and are unique in their own ways. Channin, another staff member on the property, is available to drive you wherever you need to go on a moment’s notice. Channin was an amazing resource. He is a walking encyclopedia of useful information about the island and helped us with everything from restaurant recommendations to stories about the island’s fascinating history. We did rent a car for our own excursions, but island driving is not for everybody! Suzanne was a delightful host and was available to address any question or needs quickly. Altogether this was a wonderful place to spend a few weeks in the warmth. Very, very highly recommended!

Charming & Excellently Balanced Beach Cottage

Where to begin? This is not boilerplate hyperbole, seriously, everything was great! We are exceptionally thankful for the the very knowledgeable and extremely kind caretaker Jose. Of equal importance to us are Suzanne’s wonderful team of local managers, Channin Bodden and his partner Kemberlee. Their answers to our questions really made a difference in how much we enjoyed our stay. While not an exhaustive list, we also appreciated the affectionate cats, the beautiful views and near constant sea breeze, the complimentary kayaks, the very lush landscaping, the fun aesthetic touches, like hand-caned cabinet doors, the enormous shower, and of course the reason for the trip - all the marine life in front of the property. We saw A LOT of marine life snorkeling in front of the home, even with the stony coral tissue loss disease that is becoming all too commonplace throughout the Caribbean and Florida. Multiple southern stingray sightings, a pair of spotted eagle rays, a pair of nudibranchs, a pair of shrimp cleaning parasites from a parrotfish, multiple sea snakes, to name just a few. Snorkeling on the outside of the reef is better than the inside, however both are good, and the inside is calmer, even with some wind. There are multiple channels cutting through the reef, some just big enough for a swimmer or kayak, some large enough for a water taxi. Ask Jose for more info. We hired Channin to provide round trip airport transport for us. However, after a few days at the property, we decided to rent a small car from the airport and kept it for the balance of our stay. Having the ability to be independently mobile suited us, and we’d likely rent a car from the beginning the next time we visit. No other guests were there when we stayed at the temple treehouse, so our experience may be different than when multiple parties are on-site. We found the property to be quite peaceful, and really appreciated that we were away from the hustle of West end and West Bay. The beach is actually a road, though few cars drive on it, and there are locals that hang out on the beach and the property dock sometimes, which did not bother us. Locally we liked dining @ The Salty Mango, Guava Grove, as well as Dona Aminta's. The hotspot in West End is Pazzo’s, and you need advance reservations. As first time visitors to Roatan, we are exceptionally glad our introduction to the island started at the temple treehouse. We hope to return very soon. Many Thanks!

Perfect little spot!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Temple Tree House! It was in a convenient location and the place was very charming! The views and the grounds are lovely and you can tell that Jose, the groundskeeper, works very hard to keep it beautiful! Jose was wonderful! He was always willing to help with anything we needed and always smiling! Our only regret is that we didn't book it for a longer stay....perhaps next time!

We found our New Paradise!

We heard from our friends who have been staying at Casa Cowee since the year after Suzanne bought it.(2014) They will not go elsewhere and now we know why. After they mentioned the amount of improvements that have continuously happened every year we knew this was good for a try as many times properties are in need of repair. This one is not. New top end appliances, brand new cement pool with huge deck and a calming fountain is quiet location. It was a tough decision every day where to relax, on the huge decks with panoramic views - SUNSETS, or lounging by or in the pool with a drink from the new bar area and reading several books. The whole one acre is surrounded by new fencing and large gates. Oh yes and the massive tree in the back. Many great bbq's in the bbq hut, even a bbq with new friends we met. We walked down the beach to several great restaurants. Snorkelling is the best! And almost every morning went out on kayaks to enjoy the sunrise and a great swim. Could have done more touring with Channin than the breathtaking snorkel tour but we found it hard to leave the property. Next year for sure as we are planning a two week stay with two more couples as there is a super nice casita apartment that is also included in the price now. Thanks to Jose who is always available somehow and keeps the property lush and clean. Also to the managers Channin and Kimberley (Channin Bodden Tours) for their attention to all our questions and travel needs. We did not need a vehicle. See you next year when this virus passes which we are hoping is soon! Take care. Oh and thanks Suzanne, great to meet you wish we could have had more time to get to know you. Your hard work is worth it.

Right on the Beach and Dock plus new Pool

Could not be better ! Our own personal cottage. High above to catch the breezes, and close enough to walkout onto the beach for snorkling, or to be picked up at Casa Cowee/Temple Treehouse Dock by Property manager Channin for unusual snorkling trips or fishing or just into West End or West Bay Docks to experience restaurants there or walk down beach to Tranquil Seas for both diving and food, music nights or Blue Bahia for food and music. Couple of other dive shops on the beach or be picked up right at your Dock by Sandy Bay Divers ** . Cab it from main road hail down one walking down to Anthony’s Key and up to main road or local Bus into Coxen Hole Eldons grocery store or up a few minutes to new store in Colonia or WesT End , West Bay. Worth to ask Channin for trip to new Brewery up at Palmento Bay or our Favorite restaurant near French Harbours “Cals Restaurant” spectacular view. BJ music Saturday afternoon. Island Gym just up the road if your a fitness addict is excellent. Short memberships available. What a fun central place to stay Temple Treehouse Can’t say enough about this good size Temple Tree House, “cottage” with full water view few Steps down to beach. Full working kitchen, eat inside or out. TV , towels, huge shower, big bathroom. Large separate master with Queen size excellent bed., fresh linens ,separate deck off bedrm with hammock. Definitely use Suzanne’s cleaning service with linen and towel change if here for more than week. We had a long stay under the care of owner Suzanne and her on-site manager Jose and manager Channin and Kimberly, always accommodating and they make sure to answer questions and quickly remedy any issues, if possible. The new pool is a cool dunk pool to cool off in with seats to sit and sip. There is a surrounding deck to sun and read. Surrounds on the property lush gardens. Walk to back of the acre lot to see massive Leceba Tree. Place to park a car if renting one. Kayaks to take out to the reef and tie up for snorkling masks and snores and fins to use. Just ask Jose and he will carry them out. He is worth a tip at end of stay always pleasant and lives right on site, for secure feeling, in the cute turquoise house at back of pool. We will come again !

Paradise on the Beach

Everything one could want. Located in the small community of Sandy Bay , right on the beach. Great accommodations as shown. Kayaking and snorkeling right on the reef. Dive shops a short walk down the beach. Restaurants too. Easy access to a big new grocery store at Colonia, few minutes away. Kitchens are equipped to cook. Take a local 20Lp bus or taxi into Westend for more restaurants, shops and dive shops. We went up north end of island for local music. Jose ,Suzanne full time caretaker who lives on site helps pull kayaks out to beach. He lives on site so feel extra secure. Answers your needs quickly. Suzanne’s new Beautiful sitting pool makes a perfect spot for private lounging. Very attentive staff manager Channin will pick you up and take you anywhere for reasonable amount, also fishing and further snorkeling trips. Overall, ideal for more of an authentic island lifestyle holiday. Sunsets the best ! Will definitely return.

paradis Sandy Bay

Wow, Suzanne's house is simply superb and this year there is even a swimming pool! A very nice addition! The house is close to West end for restaurants and the like. For snorkelling enthusiasts, in front of the house is an aquarium. And for divers, you are 500 m from the famous dive shop on the island. José is simply adorable and will help you with your questions. We have rented this house 4 times and we are already looking forward to returning

A Stunning Property in the Summer

This is my third stay at The Casa Cowee property. The previous two were in the large house Casa Cowee and this my first in the Temple Tree House as I came down on my own. The temperature was actually 4 degrees less than in Canada. I used both decks. The one off the bedroom in the morning for a moderated sun and the front one lounging in the hammock for the sunset. My only complaint was not being able to read because I would be missing the sunset which in summer is right out front.. Also the fruits, mango, limes, Jack Fruit, Guanabana, avocado that Jose would bring to me daily from the property was beyond my dreams. Smoothies and granita daily. It is much quieter in off "high" season but then instead of seeing trees in dormancy in the "winter" I experienced Roatan in full bloom on the Casa Cowee Estate. With less tourists, I was able to meet the local people and business owners to the point of becoming friends. Of course kayaking out to the dolphins and snorkelling out to the reef out front was a daily routine. I have to thank Suzanne for convincing me this is a great season for a visit but Jose, Channin and Kimberly were the best hosts. I have found my second home.
