  • Sunset Ridge sleeps 8 people and there are a king and 2 queen beds. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and bunk beds in the downstairs living area. This area offers a game area. The kitchen is large enough for many cooks. You may see deer and wild turkey roaming the area. It is a great place for a relaxing getaway. There is a 6-person hot tub. It has a wood burning fireplace available October through April. Satellite television and fiber optic Wi-Fi are available.

Scenic Heights cabins are in an excellent location just off Natural Bridge Rd near the State Park and other popular destinations in the Red River Gorge.Our cabin was spotless when we arrived and the hot tub was running! The kitchen was stocked with the right amount of cookware. We ate meals on the deck and used the fire pit at night.I highly recommend this rental. The manager was very helpful.

Kayak trip

The house is beautiful but needs a couple upgrades. Must change light switches, mattress and fix both game tables - air hockey n foosball. Hot tub was very nice! The space and location was perfect for us. House managers were wonderful. We’re planning to go back to that location .

Weekend getaway

The cabin was spacious and had features of a house: full kitchen, bathrooms with showers, living room, and rec room in lower level. The cabin had lots of space for sleeping with 3 private bedrooms and bunk beds in the rec room. The hot tub was set at a warm temperature as it should be. Linens/ towels were clean and soft. The bed and sofas were all very comfortable.

the cabin was great, clean, and spacious although it was difficult trying to check into our cabin. and very difficult trying to find the cabin in the neighborhood. very confusing with the directions.

Property needs TLC, maintenance, and a refresh. Caulk and pest control to keep bugs at bay, checking plumbing issues, fix bathroom door handles to lock, etc. Mattresses not the most comfortable. Can be a great spot, just needs some attention. Close to all the main attractions. No traffic noises.

The address attached to the Vrbo location is not the actual cabin. They email you with the address to the rental company where you have to check into, which is where you receive the key. There’s hardly any service in the area so just make sure you get the email and address before you head that way. There’s hardly any WiFi did not work after several attempts of unplugging. Thankfully it was one of the few places that did have service. The hot tub was filled with bugs. About 10;30 at night we saw a mouse cross the floor. It was too late to leave and find somewhere else to stay so we checked our bedsheets to make sure there wasn’t any mouse droppings in there and slept. When we woke up we found 2 mouse droppings in our bed!!!!!!! The lady I spoke to was nice but once I showed you pictures of the mouse droppings in the bed she never responded to me. I started to look around and there were mouse droppings and mouse traps everywhere. I’ve stayed in a lot of cabins over the years and I’ve never dealt with mouse or its droppings. I have video and pictures of everything.

Decent

This property was on VRBO but it is a small cabin company. We are used to emails being sent with check in instructions and with a key code. This property is not like that. They will send you a pdf and you do not get a code. YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE OFFICE. Which is not a big deal just would have been nice to know that ahead of time. The house was decent but they do need to work on rodent control. There were cobwebs all over the place and there was a lot of mouse feces in the basement area where most of the bedrooms were. There were mouse feces in the covers of our friends matress. We live in the country and get it but just not great for when you go on vacation. Hot tub was a bummer. It was dated but after one day of use it smelled so bad! We could not even use it the rest of the stay. There were decent amount of dishes to use but we made sure to wash everything before use because of rodent issues. It was ok but not the nicest cabin we had ever stayed in for the price we paid.

Pretty house, but needed more maintenance for our needs

The house is really big and great for large groups. They have a grill on the deck and a hot tub on the lower deck that were convenient for our stay. The kitchen had all the basics for our meal prep during our stay. The place was conviently located for hikes and close to the pizza place. The A/C was not working during our stay - we told them on the second day and they suggested we leave the windows open and brought over a big fan (it was super hot the days we stayed and the fan was not much help). The house had a lot of bugs (flying types, crawling types, and spiders) - we understand that there’s a higher chance to encounter bugs when staying in cabin type places - but it was much more than what we anticipated or have seen staying in other cabins in the area or in other parks. We ended up all staying on the second floor because we had encountered fewer bugs there. There were also a wasps nest and wasps flying around the hot tub. We did see a few mice traps with cheese - we didn’t see any mice though! The house description mentions something about suggesting a 4x4 to get to the property - it’s a good suggestion because the road is not paved and it could be difficult to drive through if it rains.

Great location-Could be cleaner

Love Red River Gorge. The hiking is amazing. Our cabin was in a good spot but could definitely have been cleaner and kept up better. There was a bunch of trash in the yard and edge of woods (which we cleaned up). Only other major complaint would be the super dangerous/steep/shoddy front steps. Really NEED some new stairs.

Loved this property

This cabin had a gorgeous wrap around porch that had a swing and sitting area. Was beautiful to sit in th morning and evening. The hot tub was great and very relaxing. The whole place was beautiful and spacious. We really enjoyed hanging out and talking and we especially appreciated no TV up stairs, made for more quality time. The bedroom upstairs is a spacious room with an exit to the porch, main living area and a bathroom (that does have a door leading to main area as well). There are 2 queen bedrooms downstairs and the bunk bed is set in the corner of the room downstairs in an open concept fashion with a little couch (loveseat) down stairs and TV. There is an air hockey table and a foozeball table (it had a screw loose so we set the loose screw on the table and didn't use it anymore due to it being wobbly) . There is a bathroom down stairs with a tub and shower combo (perfect for the kids). Side note if you are looking for spare towels they are in downstairs bathroom under sink....we found them last day of our stay lol) All in all this was such a perfect cabin for our group. We had 4 kids and 4 adults. We loved how inviting and wonderful this place was and would definitely go back.

Spacious and good location

The good: home is more spacious than the pictures project, it’s in a great location to hiking trails in the gorge, the property owners are responsive. The beds are comfortable. On site laundry is helpful. Game room is a lot of fun. Staff is friendly when checking in. The bad: called and messaged multiple times to request the direct address of the cabin and they wouldn’t provide that information. An email of the map would have been highly appreciated and isn’t too much to ask for in 2021. Once we received the map from the home office, it was written in such bad cursive we struggled to understand it. The AC was was out for half of our stay. The owners did send out a company but I feel like preventive maintenance could have prevented how hot and uncomfortable we were the first night. Not enough cleaning supplies and trash bags were provided. Could provide very basic items like salt and pepper.

Great location, room to improve

We stayed at this cabin for Spring break, the Cabin is very conveniently located within short drive to all hiking trails. The cabin was nicely build, stocked with basic essentials. We had a great time as a family there. We stayed for a week so we had to stop by the management office to ask for more toilet paper, dish soap etc as the house was stocked for maybe 2/3 days worth. Management office was very helpful. The Cabin can use some upgrade on hardware and a deep cleaning but the view, location made up for it.

Nice getaway!

Very close to hiking. Plenty of room for Several people. Need to clean the couches, bedroom had dead flies everywhere, some bed linens were dirty with blood and hair. Need to provide some basic amenities (like trash bags), hand soap, dish soap, and broken bench outside. The managers were very friendly and helpful though.

The owners/property managers were friendly and helpful but there seemed to be difficulty with the VRBO app, as I did not receive check-in information until I called. The location was perfect and had plenty of parking. There was a problem with flies (lots of dead flies everywhere) but overall our stay was nice.

Great cabin in the woods

My family had a wonderful stay at this cabin, which was close to several hiking trails at the Red River Gorge. Pro’s: lots of space, windows, foosball, air hockey, wrap around porch with swing, grill, and fire pit. The only con was that the floor was dirty- if I walked barefoot, my feet were filthy, even right after a shower. But it was a small price to pay for a relaxing, comfortable home away from home and I would definitely stay here again.

Very nice location

This was a very nice cabin. We loved the hot tub located on the ground floor on the back patio overlooking the woods. The view would be better during the winter so you can see the gorge through the trees. We love everything.

Beautiful cabin

I liked the games that the property had. The place was attractive, but the pictures were obviously taken just after the cabin was either recently completed or cleaned. The front steps were very steep and had poison ivy growing under them. One branch was beginning to poke up through the top step. I would like to have had a more professional map to use to find the cabin. Also, google maps did not take me to the front office when I put in the address. I had to drive about a mile from where google told me I had arrived. The setting is worth it though.

Great location, cute cabin

We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was as pictured, and had pretty much everything you would need. I dinged one star on cleanliness because of some items left from previous renters found under the beds, and some dust/cobwebs. Honestly, the cleaning crew had a huge job before our check-in bc the prior renters evidently celebrated a birthday maybe a little too much. Beds were comfortable enough. Had plenty of towels for our stay. Bring extra garbage bags, toilet paper, paper towels and dishwasher detergent. They supply enough for a couple days. Also, bring laundry soap if you plan on doing laundry. I would definitely stay here again. Great value.

Things I wish the owner had told me...

This was the second VRBO rental that we have had in the Red River Gorge area and it was far from the best. Here's a few things that we were not prepared for... 1. Mice running through the house and small ants in the kitchen. 2. Owners board games are very old and had many missing pieces. 3. Only one TV in the house...downstairs...and no DVD player 4. No wifi connection 5. Placemats needed for the glass table top.
