The entire check in process done virtually is slow and unresponsive. We arrived about 3:30pm which is 30 minutes past the check in time and we had still not received the text or email with the digital key to access the room. Then when I called the number there was no answer and nothing but an automated response. We had to ask a housekeeper to call so we could get checked in. Very poor management of this process. Also, the shower knob is not your traditional knob where you turn it and the water come. You have to pull the knob out, then turn. We had to go find a housekeeper to help us turn on the water which I was not happy with at all. Management needs to put some instructions for this in the bathroom. Also one of the lights would not turn on in the room. It was connected to a power strip under the bed which looked like a fire hazard. Every-time we sat in the bed the light would flicker in and off. Other than location, this place needs an entire change of management!

We have stayed at Washington Square Inn several times in the past and have enjoyed the property. It is well located for North Beach, Fishermans Wharf and SF Downtown activities. On this particular stay we chose the smallest ensuite room available for an overnight. It was fine but, predictably, very small and spare, but also a good value. We also experienced quite a bit of intrusive noise on this latest visit to the Inn. There was someone picking and crushing recyclable items right outside our window around dinner time, and there were some incredibly rude and noisy guests that came into the Inn well after midnight.
In fairness, none of this is explicitly the fault of the property, but as there is no on-site staff, there was no way to seek to have the garbage crushers or noisy late night guest issue addressed.

Great location, very clean, nice sized room. Coffee/tea/water available in the lobby. Our mattress did not fit the bed and wasn't the most comfy, otherwise it would be a solid 5 stars.

While it is apparent that this hotel may have been nice at one point, it is unfortunately no longer to the standard advertised in the photos.
Firstly, our room was sold to us as ADA accessible, however there was no accessible route from the door of the hotel to the room. The hotel is also not staffed at any point.
There were hairs under the sheet and no light shade in the bathroom.
The worst part was that the door opened with an app, and there was no deadbolt or any physical way to secure the door, which felt unacceptable. I ended up pushing furniture against the door to feel safe.
The hotel is sold as a ‘luxury’ feel but it is far from that. I’d never consider this hotel again, and I wouldn’t recommend that any women stay here alone.

This is one of the funnest locations to stay in the city! North Beach is safe, clean and great access to all the best restaurants. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here!

This place is so cute, right in the middle of everything. Everything was extremely clean and the staff was attentive. Never once did I go get water or coffee or tea and the water was out. I even had an issue with my toilet and I texted the hotel and someone was there to check two minutes later.
