Disliked: Amenities
The room is fine. The bed was comfortable. Everything was really quiet.
The two things I did not like were (1) the hours are very limited, and you must check in during the day; and (2) the rooms were fairly overpriced. If I were not in the are for business (construction) purposes, I would have stayed elsewhere.
Very friendly owners, refrigerators are not standard in the rooms, but brought one up for us. Beds were comfortable, room was very clean. Will stay again!
Really enjoyed my stay there. The people working really made me feel welcome and it felt genuine. The room was clean and comfortable. Nothing fancy, but had all of the things I needed. Would stay there again
The San Luis inn is great my aunt and i went down for a funeral. I have stayed there before and it is always clean the staff is wonderful and helpful we ate at Rios Mexican and Thai restauran which was also really good. I recommend staying in San Luis too se the Stations of the Cross and go for a hike

Liked: Staff & service
Property and rooms are dated. Rooms are clean. Staff is very friendly and accommodating.
This was a very nice stay. The room was simple, but had a terrific tv and upgraded blankets. The property was very very clean! The staff was awesome! A wonderful place to rest. Thank you San Luis Inn!!!
Clean and comfortable (always most important! ) The room was a bit dated and the air freshener a bit overpowering. Good quiet spot to stay in this quiet rustic valley.
Had a wonderful stay in San Luis. The front desk and their system of check in was quite responsive. Only thing good to know is to bring your own hair dryer if you need one or check if they’ve gotten one yet. It was the only thing I needed that was missing.
Not sure what’s going on with employee help for the front desk/checkin, but the person is only there for a certain hours for you to check in so there is no night desk and that’s not made clear and I witnessed people who came in late having to have to sleep in their vehicles because no one was there to check them in. They need to make it clear that check in time is specific to what their employee can show up and if you’re outside of that, you’ll have to wait otherwise the property is clean and tidy. I only gave a staff rating of one star because of the situation. Otherwise everyone I did meet that work there was very friendly.
The beds felt uneven. The foot of my wife's bed was lower than the head. My bed was not level from one side to the other. Other than that, the property was very clean and we were made very welcomed by the staff. If you have special diet needs such as diabetic needs, you wouldbe better served by bringing your own breakfast supplies.
No frills lodging with great price and great hosts
Perfect no-frills stay in San Luis. Hosts were very friendly and accommodating. I recently got a new hip, and can't lay down for extended periods. They talked through my needs and assigned us to a room close to the front door that had a loveseat in case I needed to sit up during the night. Big room. Frig/microwave cart available on request. Free coffee/fruit/bars in the morning, with other items available to purchase. I really like the keypad idea on the front door, where each guest is assigned their own code. If I were to make a friendly suggestion, it would be to add a few features per room, e.g. hair dryer, shampoo/conditioner bottles or dispensers. Nice quiet town about an hour north of Taos, and only one block away from the amazing and beautiful Stations of the Cross shrine and hike.
The check-in procedure was unusual, bordering on frightening. I had no contact or returned phone calls from the staff at the San Luis Inn Motel. When we arrived at the Inn, the front door was locked and had a sign posted in the window to call the phone number. I did call, but no one answered and no one returned my call after a few minutes. Eventually I walked to the home next to the Inn and inquired if they knew anything about it. The person who answered the door said the Inn had been sold, but she knew how to contact someone. She called someone, and they arrived within several minutes. No apologies, but polite and got us checked in. The room was good, no frills, but clean. The 1st night was very quiet because we were the only people there, no other guests, no staff. The next day a few more guests came in and there were more staff members present. There were 2 operating restaurants within walking distance: an excellent Thai restaurant where we enjoyed dinner 2 nights, and a coffee shop for breakfast.
