This hotel is great! friendly and helpful staff, clean and large room (the quality is particularly amazing given the low price), and it is walkable to the Ringling mueseum. The only thing I am not that satisfied is the strong smell of disinfectant in the room. Will definitely consider this place once I visit Sarasota again.

Pool was awesome..I really enjoyed relaxing in the cabanas. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area..they helped me figure out how to get around without having to rent a car or spend money on a Lyft. I enjoyed my stay ‼️

The room was clean and as expected. Hotel staff were polite and helpful. Check in and out were easy. They even gave us a voucher for two free drinks. Would definitely stay again.

Our room was clean, decorated with beachy flair, and had great ammenities. I LOVED everything about our stay except for the rowdy party go-ers Thursday night at the Tiki Hut (they were hanging out in the parking lot svreaming). With that in mind, I would still absolutely stay here again because it was that great.

I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. The room was extremely dirty when we arrived. There were visible footprints on the doors, which immediately made the place feel very unhygienic. The bed was in terrible condition — the sheets were dirty and had stains, including what looked like blood stains. It was honestly shocking to see something like that in a hotel. The bathroom was also very dirty, and the towels were old and full of holes. Overall, the level of cleanliness was completely unacceptable. I would not recommend staying here unless the hotel seriously improves its cleaning standards.

They're under new management and ownership the last 5 years and constanrly making improvements. What I can confidently say is that the place is clean, friendly, and the owners could be seen on site all 4 days I was there and actually getting in the trenches and working hard. Refreshing to see and proves rheyre dedicared to delivering a great experience. I'll be back.

It was good, the place is a bit old. Shower leaked all over the floor. The pool area is excellent with the thatched roof tables, great deck chairs, big swings, really cool. Its somewhat hard to relax though with all the traffic noise from a very busy crazy road just feet away. Typical Florida. Bring earplugs for sleeping - walls are thin and I spent every night listening to the jerks next door either fighting or just running their mouths until 2 a.m.

I am a fan of this property. Kat is great and made the check-in process a breeze. The bartenders in the Tiki Bar were also very nice and overall it is a nice, clean property with a great location! However, the room furnishing are really starting to show its age. Baseboards and doors are looking beat-up with some signs of sloppy maintenance. The housekeeping is very good and the property was very clean, but maintenance needs to be stepped up. Also, our large room simply needed more furniture. There were two nightlights and one large overhead light. Another end table and area lamp would have been nice. Both or our two queen beds were broken down and uncomfortable. Bedding was nice quality and comfortable. Grounds were well maintained and clean. Didn't use the pool due to weather, but looked clean and well maintained. The staff really made this a fun stay, but beds and furnishings really need attention to keep my interest.

A cool, "throw-back" place that reminds you of 1950's/60's Florida. Room was clean and obviously updated in the past few years. It's nice to have the Bahi Hut tiki bar right there on the property. The pool area is very nice, but the pool itself could have used a little more cleaning at some point during my three-night stay. I didn't see anyone cleaning it during my time there, and it could have used a little bit of attention. Not bad though. That's my only (small) complaint.

Upon entering the room there is an awful moldy mildew smell. The bathroom had damaged floors with black wet mold on them. The wall and baseboards also the same black mold. The bed was made nicely on top but the sheets and mattress pad were not so clean and looked as if they were not changed. Also we had reserved a balcony room but were given a first floor room. But paid for a balcony room through Expedia. Golden Host required a room payment even tho I told them it was already paid thru Expedia. They did refund that after Expedia contacted and confirmed it was paid. We didn’t stay at this hotel all week assuming the entire place would be in the same condition/shape as the room given. With my husband’s COPD and asthma issues we didn’t feel safe there. Found another hotel down the road. Extremely upset with Expedia and there ratings of the Golden Host Resort. That is what I and others look at when booking vacations.

The room smelled so strongly of disinfectant that I could not stay there. I felt like they were trying to cover up a worse smell. We tried airing out the room but nothing helped and then I got an asthma attack from it. The bed had clearly been slept in and the covers just pulled up. The door was open when we arrived--we were a little scared to go in. When we shut the door, the gaps on the top, bottom and sides were large enough that we could see outside--which means someone could see INside! After about 15 minutes we decided to cut our losses and hightailed it out of there. Truly a nightmare!

Unfortunately, my husband and I were unable to use the pool or Tiki bar as it they were reserved for a Private Party (wedding). I booked the Golden Host because of the pool and Florida's oldest Tiki bar. If the hotel had told me either when booking or at least at Check-in, I would have been able to make other plans. The hotel makes use of Text messages and could have easily informed us prior to 10 minutes before shutting down the pool. We then walke to the Tiki bar only to find it too had been reserved for a Private (wedding) party. Only 2 amenities on site and we were unable to use either. Luckily, later in the evening we were able to sit outside by the pool and met two other couples who also felt 'slighted' by the lack of communication. The rooms have been updated and I would give that 8 points as there is No toilet tissue holder, . And although the room had a mini fridge and microwave as well as a kitchen sink, there were no towels or dish liquid. In the lobby, you can get breakfast, although this was never mentioned; nor any signage. A little more thought and this hotel could be an enjoyable stay.

Clean, quaint motel with pool and tiki bar. Close to lots of food and entertainment. Very reasonable rate. I had no issues during my stay, but my neighbor had 2 minor issues and stafd fixed them within the hour. Staff was very pleasant and interactive. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Don’t let the description of this place fool you there is no restaurant. They said there is one going in this weekend.3/7:26. The rooms don’t look as fresh or the other accommodations by what the pictures show and in my opinion, the neighborhood seems a little sketchy. Unless you ask them not to, you will have room service come in in the morning, What surprised me was after our first night there we made sure our curtains were closed. We went out for the day when we got back. Our curtain was opened a bit so we knew someone had been in our room. I could’ve sworn it said housekeeping upon request and I had left some things out that if I knew someone was coming in my room would’ve been put away. I’m talking jewelry, cash, etc. They didn’t make the bed they pulled it up like I could’ve done and they emptied one of the full garbage containers not both? And they didn’t leave any new fresh towels? So why come in the room in the first place? The only reason I gave them three stars is because on Thursday night we had the best time in the tiki bar. It would’ve been nice if they served food, but we did order a pizza that got delivered right there by the suggestion of the bartenders and it was so delicious. The bartenders were a riot! Made you feel very comfortable. They offered two free drinks for your stay, but they choose you don’t. You have a choice of three. Stay again? If I had to. But, if the bartenders were working, I definitely would stop in there to say hello!
