Construction was interrupted by the American Civil War, and finally completed around 1868 by the new owner, John Wilder. Before Hansford's death, as retold in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, the house had already been the scene of two deaths. In 1913, a previous owner tripped over the second floor banister, fractured his hip, and suffered a concussion, dying three days later. In 1964, a boy chasing pigeons on the roof fell over the edge and impaled himself on the iron fence below.

The property worked out perfectly for our girls trip! Everyone was really impressed with the space, and everything was clean, and modern. The hosts were really communicative and ensured our stay was better than expected! Perfect stay!

Great spot for a bachelorette group!

This property was the perfect spot for group of 10. A great location and a stunning property. We had plenty of space and privacy but also the common areas were perfect to all be together. The hosts were very prompt in their responses. Loved it!

Perfect for a girls trip!

The house was in such a perfect location, walkable to Forsyth Park and downtown. My friends and I rented for my bachelorette party and everyone thought the house was so cute! It looked exactly like the photos, well decorated, and an awesome layout. Each of the 4 suites had their own bathroom. Most rooms say they could sleep 4 people, and I believe that could be true, but we were way more comfortable with 2-3 people per room. The only feedback I have is that the house needs more mirrors!!!! There was no place to get ready or put on makeup aside from the bathroom, which is challenging on a girls trip when multiple people need to coordinate getting ready schedules. Easy check in/out process, host was very helpful and checked in via text several times to ensure we had everything needed, even suggested luggage storage after checkout. Would definitely stay here again!

Rooms were clean, and when one of the Murphy beds were broken the hosts made sure we were properly accomodated. Little misleading to advertise this place with a pool however, as it is nowhere near the property, but that wasnt relevant for my stay.

Gorgeous property, Fantastic location!!

We adored everything about the Gordon Inn! We rented all 3 floors, which was perfect for our group. All of the individual suites were amazing - we couldn’t have been happier. We loved the neighborhood! It was great to be able to walk everywhere, or a quick uber if we were pressed for time. A+++++❤️

Great Stay in Savannah!

Very cute place! Perfect for large groups. We checked in right at 4, and unfortunately there were some housekeeping issues, but after speaking with management it was taken care of right away. Very easy to communicate with! The pull out bed in the downstairs suite was broken and we were disappointed about that, but overall a nice experience! The location was nice and close to everything!

Lovely stay at The Gordon Inn

It was a lovely time at The Gordon. We rented the whole place. It was nice to have our own spaces and a place to congregate. Be prepared for the STAIRS. Our WiFi didn’t work. We didn’t have soaps to even run the appliances. Power was off and on.

Great house & location, but was falsely charged for damages & incorrect info in description

I loved the house, the communication with the VRBO team, and the location. However, it says quote on quote there is an "on-site pool" which is actually not correct. You need to thoroughly read the description to notice that it is in Tybee. I brought this up to their mgmt, but it still has not been changed. Also, when we arrived some doors had painting scrapped off. Not a big deal, as we didn't really care and wasn't that noticeable. I failed to take a video when I checked-in, but I was charged for damages to those doors that we did not cause. They asked their inspector, who claimed it was not there before, and essentially claimed I lied and charged me anyway. Loved the stay during the time I was there, but was disappointed by these 2 factors and will not be coming back.
