Historic 1850s Townhouse Parlor Suite steps away from Forsyth Park!

The chic historic townhouse sits on charming Chatham Square, one block from Forsyth Park. The area contains some of the city’s best row houses. This prestigious area is a short walk to the numerous museums, historic sites, restaurants, and shops.

Recently renovated with a designers eye toward style, the parlor level suite of this 1854 townhouse overlooks Chatham Square. Living room features & smart TV, Wi-Fi and comfy seating. The dining room seats four and the kitchen features stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops & is outfitted with anything you need to whip up a meal or heat up take-out.

The sunny master bedroom has a queen bed, smart TV. The en suite bathroom is newly renovated too with a tiled, walk-in shower. The suite has a private back porch and the below courtyard (shared with other guests in building).

HISTORIC GORDON ROW: Gordon Row was built in two phases between 1852 and 1854. In the first phase, the 3 or 4 houses on each end of the block were built and in the second phase the middle portion was built. There are a total of 15 houses in the row. The houses were built in the Federalist (US) or Regency Style (UK). Each house is four stories high and contains about 3,300 square feet. The Federalist Style emphasizes square, classical features, plain decorations and mirror image rooms.

PARKING INFO:
1. This property has metered street parking Monday through Friday, free on Saturday/Sunday. City of Savannah uses Meter Pay Stations on each block. You can download the phone APP "PARK SAVANNAH" to pay meters from your phone
OR
Visitor Parking Day Passes are available for 24hours/$15.00 and 48hours/$24.00. Passes can be purchased at the City of Savannah Parking Services
2. Luxury Living Savannah has 4 reserved parking spaces that we offer for rent located about 4 blocks away. We charge $20 per night, per parking space and this can be added to your booking charges.

  • Designed by John S. Norris for General Hugh Weedon Mercer, construction of the house began in 1860. Construction was interrupted by the American Civil War, and finally completed around 1868 by the new owner, John Wilder. Before Hansford's death, as retold in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, the house had already been the scene of two deaths. In 1913, a previous owner tripped over the second floor banister, fractured his hip, and suffered a concussion, dying three days later. In 1964, a boy chasing pigeons on the roof fell over the edge and impaled himself on the iron fence below.

Great location, clean and spacious for two people. Nice kitchen. Love the little balcony seating. The bed needs an upgrade- mattress is worn and not very comfortable. Otherwise, no complaints. We had no need to contact the host, so can’t comment on that.

Couples Vacation in Savannah

My fiancé and I had a wonderful long weekend at this property. The location in historic downtown was beautiful and fairly quiet, and was only a short walk away from all the shops and restaurants that Savannah has to offer. The property itself was clean, spacious, and comfortable, and our host responded to all of our questions within 30 minutes of asking. Would highly recommend this for any couple seeking a romantic trip.

Clean and beautiful location

We loved this place. It was very clean and beautifully decorated with large TV in the living room and bedroom. Lots of light and charm. It was in such a lovely neighborhood across from Chatham Square. It was a short walk to Forsyth Park, restaurants and areas of interest. We walked everywhere. Very easy parking. Although we paid for private parking, we really didn't need to. There was always ample parking on the street. I highly recommend this place.

Wonderful stay

We had a wonderful stay in downtown historic Savannah over Easter weekend. The check-in instructions were clear and easy to follow, and the host was quick to respond when we had a question. The apartment was exactly as pictured—clean, well-maintained, and very comfortable. We especially enjoyed relaxing outside in the back porch and soaking up the beautiful spring weather. The street was peaceful with quiet neighbors, and we had no trouble finding plenty of street parking nearby. A perfect spot for a relaxing holiday weekend—we’d absolutely stay here again!

Perfect is an understatement!

This property was exactly as described and absolutely perfect. Loved location across from Chatham Square. I was worried a bit about parking as there is no assigned space, but we had zero difficulty finding a spot in front of property every time. Don’t let that be a deterrent. Forsyth Park is literally around the corner - loved my morning walks there. Without a doubt we will stay here again.

Stay here!

We made a last minute decision to stay here, and we are so glad we did! The apartment was comfortable and the location was perfect - very walkable to many places, such as Forsyth Park. Quiet little balcony off the bedroom where we could unwind after a long day of site seeing. Bathroom is a little cramped for space, but other than that it is great. Highly recommend!

Absolutely perfect in every way!

Beautiful location next to Chatham Square, near Forsyth Park. We walked everywhere. Lots of great local shops, bars, restaurants and live music. Loved that our unit was quiet and off the beaten path. It was stocked with all basic necessities upon arrival. Very clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

Very cool to stay in an 1850’s ppty on our first visit to Savannah. Ppty was clean and neat. Everything we needed for a four night stay. Appreciate the book with details, recommendations, and instructions. Two small suggestions for improvement. 1: more shelf or counter space in bathroom and 2: television instructions need to be updated as cable is no longer provided.

This property was amazing. The history, location, and architecture was top notch. Coming from AZ, the air conditioning was critical and worked perfectly. I arrived and didn’t drive my car for 5 days.
