The breakfast was always fresh and presented well. Good quality and extensive meal choices. Staff all very pleasant and polite. My car was very safe in the covered car park belonging to the hotel.

Courteous staff. Good selection of food at breakfast but I was told that I could not have a cappuccino at breakfast time! As I only eat a croissant with a cappuccino for breakfast, I had to cross the road to a coffee shop. Parking facility was good. For dinner, I opted for the plaice, only to find that the size of the portion was about right for a five years old. The quiet ambience in the dining room was appreciated. Overall, I think that eating out elsewhere would have been preferable

The good points. Room and bathroom very clean. Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice. Undercover parking include in room price a bonus plus EV charging if needed. Not so good points. Don’t book a cosy room with 6’ double. It is too cosy, we are not big people, but I would not want to spend more than a couple of nights in there. The lady on reception is bit snappy when my wife said we don’t want to be on the top floor. We are full she was told, but after some huffing and puffing a room was found on the second floor. On the first night we dinned in restaurant not very good! On the second night we dinned in the lounge much less formal and the food was better. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel based on our experience.

Room was clean and tidy, however the floorboards were extremely squeaky, unable to walk anywhere in the room without it squeaking, it was obviously the same for the room above! The restaurant service was very slow for the evening, and the meal itself quite a disappointment, the pie crust hard to cut and the 'steak' filling bland, the mash and peas just luke warm. Breakfast was a slight improvement but not the best. Parking was good in the private car park, provided the cars were actually parked inside the marked bays, although the white lines do need repainting.

Misleading information from staff ruined what should have been a simple experience. We were told at reception that our voucher could be used for afternoon tea, then showed it again in the lounge before ordering and were seated without issue. Only at payment were we told it didn’t apply and charged full price, which feels completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, there were no towels in the room when we needed them, and the room was unbearably hot with no proper way to cool it. Overall, poor communication and basic standards not being met — wouldn’t stay again.

Theatre trip

Great hotel very close to the core entertainment and city experiences. Great of you are going to the theatre. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Wish I could have stayed longer.
