“Love everything! From the beautiful retro room to the heated floors in the bay to the comfy bed. We love the decor and we need some relaxing time. Wife and I wish it was warmer to see the property and water views but it was cold! Maybe we come back in the summer ”

“We stayed one night to enjoy a weekend away in Portsmouth and thought the property was beautiful. Bed was comfortable, room very clean and updated. Staff was lovely and knowledgeable. Downsides were that there is no free parking (valet for $40 a night or a parking garage around the corner for $1/hour with a max of $20 a day) and the breakfast didn’t do it for us. However, would definitely stay there again!”

“I could connect to the Hotel's WIFI, but the WIFI connection to the internet was terrible. OK to read email. but not good enough to do any real work from my room. Also, as a pet friendly Hotel there should be a dog walk area.”

“We had a wonderful time staying at Hotel Thaxter! The location was perfect for walking around Portsmouth, plenty of local shops and restaurants around. The staff was very helpful and provided some great recommendations. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly stay again if we travel to Portsmouth. ”

“My room was very clean. The king size bed was super comfortable. The floors are not covered in carpet so it was very easy to hear the people above me moving around their room, but that would be my only negative comment. The breakfast area was well stocked each morning & the staff taking care of it was very sweet & kind. I'll keep this place in mind for my next trip back to this area.”

“It was a great stay other than the fact there property management was blowing the parking lot off and blew all the dirt and rocks all over many people's vehicles and I told the guy at the front desk and he said there was probably 5 other people who also complained and would let the manager know”

“I’ve stayed here a couple times it was late when I got in. It was difficult to even get a cup of tea and the person at the desk acted like she was annoyed. The place is clean. The beds are comfortable. I keep coming back for that one reason otherwise I wouldn’t stay there. Staff should get an attitude adjustment. . Staff should get a attitude adjustment. ”

“Excellent hotel! Breakfast is good. They even provide light dinner for free! Room is big with kitchen! Must stay next time! Parking is an issue, but I travel with a residence friend here. It is not an issue to me.”

“Room was beautiful and the location was great. Contactless which I wasn't sure about but was great. Easy code to get into the building and our room and check out was just as easy. Lovely Tea/Coffee bar with snacks. Will stay here again.”
