Was very pleased with the overall experience. Great location!
Such a beautiful hotel in such a beautiful town. The scenery along a mirrored lake and next to the Blue Church was breathtaking. The room was really large with a balcony view of the lake. The bed was cozy and the sheets so soft. She even left us an entire chocolate bar to enjoy. We loved our stay!
This was one of our favorite places to stay during our adventure around Iceland! Super cute cozy guesthouse was clean and provided easy free parking and check-in. Perfect location within walking distance to site seeing, tasty food options, store, and beautiful views all around. Honestly such a charming quiet town that left a last impression on us and would love to stay again!
One of the most memorable places we have stayed in Iceland. Special thanks to the owners for doing such a faithful restoration of this historic and special place. Will always be special to us, well done.
Right in the center of the small town. If you arrive late, there is no staff, you will only pick up keys from the front desk (self-service). The property is quite old, but still very clean and well maintained.
Of all the places we stayed in Iceland while traveling the Ring Road Við Lónið was my favorite. The location was perfect, the room was beautiful and comfortable, and the hosts were very responsive. I can’t wait to go back!
Fantastic location. Quiet, only 8 rooms. Very comfortable room. Great shower. Close to restaurants. No TV, but that's not a bad thing! I would absolutely stay here again.
Adorable guesthouse. Clean and newly renovated, with attention to detail. Conveniently located with easy parking. I was worried it might be loud at night given its location on a popular street, but it quieted down early each night and we slept peacefully. Best place we stayed in Iceland.
Very cozy and big room. Walking distance to great restaurants and the pond is right behind the house. Not to mention the rainbow road was right at the front door. Super easy check-in and the best shower I’ve had on my whole trip. Highly recommend!
This is a little gem of a guesthouse located right on the Rainbow Road! Easiest check-in and check-out we've ever experienced.
Rooms are very nicely decorated and quite big. Try to get a bay-facing room with a balcony, but even the street facing side will not disappoint. Everything was clean and well-kept. The bathroom had great amenities and heated floors!
There is no food offered here, but there are great options within walking distance (400 feet!) And, even a couple of shops to browse. It's a very walkable spot.
The setting is stunning, with mountains all around. It's a perfect guesthouse in a great side trip off the Ring Road.
The hotel and the location are amazing, walking distance to everything. Great views of the mountains and the whole town. Only problem we had was getting a place to have breakfast, the hotel recommends Hotel Aldan but we showed up at 8 in the morning and they did not have breakfast available (there was a group that was having breakfast) but they told us that they didn't have for the 2 of us. Only coffee was available?! Other than that a great stay, but be aware of maybe packing your own food in case there is no availability in town.
I like pretty much everything! The property is very well kept, fantastic considering the building is over 100 years old, and the room was AMAZING! Understand it wasn't terribly large but since I travel solo, it was perfect. Instructions were left in the lobby along with my key. The location is ideal, right at the end of the highway and within a few steps of ships and restaurants, and the lagoon was right there too. I loved every minute of my time there!
This is a very nice room in a very central location. The check in is essentially grabbing an envelope from the lobby, you don't interact with anyone. Our room has a great view of the harbor. There is no breakfast. We drove (in summer) to the Filling Station and got a very tasty, affordable (for Iceland) breakfast. The room is very clean, a good size, strong internet and good water pressure.
This was a lovely place to stay in a small village in the East Fjords of Iceland. The room was lovely - comfortable, enough room for 2, clean and appeared new. However, one must be aware that breakfast is not provided and there are limited options in the town. We had the breakfast buffet at the Hotel Akden, as suggested, and it was 3000ISK pp for a simple buffet, which we felt was quite expensive. Given that the room itself was very expensive for what it was, I gave it a lower rating. Also know that there is no one at the guesthouse so you do not meet anyone, but there is a phone number to call. All of this information was made clear when booking, so no surprises!
Our host was lovely and a great communicator. The property is beautiful and central to everything this magical place has to offer. Thank you very much!
We had a wonderful stay at this quaint guesthouse. The town is small but worth the trip. We would also highly recommend making a dinner reservation @ Aldan, as there are limited options for dining, but this restaurant was wonderful, food was tasty and the staff was very friendly.
