「We had an ok stay. Overall there was a lot more good than bad. Positives: - Room and the rest of the hotel were nicely decorated, and more modern style than most nearby hotels - Cleanliness was good and the room was serviced efficiently - Breakfast was very good quality and the standard was fairly consistent - Three EV chargers and lots of parking. All chargers were Type 2, so if your car needs a CHAdeMO connector then you're out of luck, but they are uncommon now anyway. Charger was expensive...

「Our experience at this hotel was excellent. The lady assisting us to check in was very nice. She showed us around the hotel facilities and gave my kids swimming toys. The room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel had three swimming pool, one indoor and two outdoor. My kids really enjoyed the pool. In addition, the included breakfast was delicious. This hotel definitely deserves that we come back.」

「Our stay was luvly, right qhere we wanted to be very cl8se to the beach, rooms very comfortable and clean.Rosemary and David are very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are brilliant, we had something different each day and no complaints from us and the warm lemon drizzle cake was divine.」

「Liked everything with one exception. We had booked a superior double room. Upon arrival we were told we were being upgraded. The room was dominated by a super king size bed. There were 4 large lamps and 2 overhead bedside lamps. However no chair and no fridge. I enquired and unfortunately they did not have a spare fridge. I expected a chair and fridge in a superior room.」

「The room its self was clean but very tired. It was very cold as the window/door lets in a draught (old building) but we were provided with a large blanket on arrival but the electric fire in the room was more for decoration rather than heat. The staff were happy to help with our requests for extra towels and coffee. It was a very unique experience.」

「Good location with incredible sea views. Unfortunately, with only a few guests there was no breakfast, no food & no bar open which was disappointing.」

「The house was lovely, spacious and airy and catered for our needs. The provision of fans was much appreciated in the current soaring temperatures! Our only slight niggle was that the garden didn’t reflect the photos as advertised, there was no BBQ and it wasn’t conducive to alfresco dining. If this could be attended to, it would be perfect. Thank you 」

「We had a wonderful stay at 1 Apse Castle Cottage — a beautiful, character-filled retreat nestled in peaceful woodland. The cottage is spotless, thoughtfully decorated, and full of charm, with a cozy log burner, luxurious bathroom, and a well-equipped kitchen. Beds were super comfy, and everything felt welcoming and homely. The location is ideal for exploring Shanklin and the wider Isle of Wight. We especially appreciated how dog-friendly it was — our pup loved it! Truly a magical place. We’d...

「We stayed for 9 nights and had a lovely stay at Lucombe Manor. Breakfast was excellent every morning, and the hotel has plenty of character. We were lucky with the weather, and the sunshine over the building gave it a real Mediterranean feel! Our first night was disturbed by guests in the adjoining room coming and going, talking and laughing. Being an older building, you can also hear people walking past rooms at night. The manager kindly moved us the following day, which we appreciated. We...

「A very nice apartment with excellent sea views. Lounge/dining furniture a little tired but functional. Everything very clean.Guest guide book was not updated for 2026. There was guidance provided to connect a smart TV to the internet and how to access Netflix etc but the actual TV provided was made in 2008 and predated these facilities! Tried to contact the host regarding access door key instructions but call not returned. It would have been useful to have had small waste bins in the bedrooms...

「extremely helpful and friendly staff. Lovely well laid out property with everything you need in great location. nice enclosed outdoor space which is a bit of a sun trap. plenty of nearby pubs and restaurants, and a 10 - 15 minute walk to the beach. I'm afraid that feel that the check in system is a big let down and very much based on squeezing as much money as possible in a rather cynical manner from early check in costs. we all know that the entry time has crept up over the years to 4 o'clock...

「It was clean and fully equipped for family self-service stay. Thank you. It would be nice to have an ensuite master bedroom (perhaps not applicable to this property now, but I will look out for one next time). Also, we would have preferred a lock on the master bedroom door. Otherwise, spot on!」

「Excellent accommodation furnished to a high standard and in a quiet location but within easy reach of both town and beach.」

「We thought the apartment was excellent and in a lovely location. We had a very enjoyable holiday and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Thanks to everyone concerned.」

「The cottage was equipped with everything we needed… and more!Comfortable furniture and comfortable beds. The location is great - within easy walking distance of many amenities and yet in a lovely quiet setting… even the ringing of the nearby church bellls was lovely to listen to.We loved the relaxng enclosed garden.Correspondence with the host was easy and prompt. The only thing that was a bit confusing was the ‘booking in’ process… although having done that for the first time, I’m sure it will be...

「What a wonderful home from home Hazeldene is and what a wonderful host Jan is - responsive and helpful. The house is very comfortable and extremely well equipped. Plus a lovely large private garden that was great for our dogs and with every configuration you could want for relaxing and dining. Jan and her family have obviously worked hard to create this haven but clearly enjoyed thinking of every detail to make your stay fun and interesting, especially for young ones with lots of toys, books...
