Quiet year round lake home, swimming/fishing, near Pictured Rocks, trail access
Our home away from home is a spacious, 1700 square foot, fully furnished get away in the beautiful upper peninsula of Michigan. We are located on scenic H-58 roughly halfway between Munising and Grand Marais, and are just minutes from the Pictured Rocks National lake shore where you will find numerous hiking trails, waterfalls, and Lake Superior beaches to explore. Additionally, we are less than a mile from a network of trail systems that allow you to go in all 4 directions. Whether you're a snowmobiler, or ride side by sides/ATV's, you have endless options for exploration right from home base, with plenty of parking available for large trailers.
If you want a break from the sight seeing, enjoy an afternoon or evening sitting lakeside at the house. We offer over 300 feet of frontage along the north side of Nevins Lake, that includes a sandy beach area/fishing dock. This 276-acre lake has no public access, allowing for a quiet and peaceful experience. It's not uncommon for a whole summer day to pass without seeing any motorized watercraft, which creates opportunities to observe wildlife such as loons, eagles, and beavers in their natural environment. Nevins Lake is great for fishing/swimming, or paddling/exploring, and provides a wonderful opportunity to escape and unwind. While there's no public access, small boats on trailers can be backed down to the water and launched from our beach area (A vehicle with 4-wheel drive is recommended). We provide 4 Kayaks, a canoe, a paddle boat, and a row boat that are included with your rental as well. In the evening, unwind around a bon-fire (firewood included!). Roast brats or smores while listening to the beautiful calls of loons ushering in a night sky that only the remote UP can offer.
The cabin itself has all the amenities that allow for a comfortable/contemporary stay in a remote location. Ideal for couples, families, or groups of friends, it comfortably sleeps 4-6 adults. The house includes a fully stocked kitchen with all the items you’ll need to prepare and serve a home cooked meal. There is reliable high speed internet, as well as Satellite TV.
A short 25-minute drive West from Nevins Lake will bring you to the amazing town of Munising; the same distance in the opposite direction will bring you to Grand Marais. Nestled between these 2 towns along H-58 are dozens of points of interest, including Lake Superior beaches, hiking trails, and waterfalls.

Every season has countless unique and exciting experiences to be had. Summertime is a given, and there are plenty of reasons why. However, the best kept secrets are in the "off months" when the crowds dissipate. Many consider September/October to be the best months to visit the UP. Fall colors are unrivaled in the Hiawatha national forest areas, and paint the landscape on the elevated shores of Nevins Lake.
We look forward to being your host and helping to make your UP experience great no matter the season!
*****IMPORTANT NOTE**** Due to the remote location, trash service is not provided and guests are asked to take their trash with them. Many renters choose to dispose smaller amounts on their day trips throughout the stay. Otherwise, there are 2 good options while heading home as well. Going West towards Munising, there is Wood Island Waste Management that accepts bagged trash. If you are heading East, Seney has a gas Station/convenience store called Maters Stop & Go. They charge a couple dollars a bag to dispose in their dumpster. We apologize in advance for this inconvenience, and appreciate your understanding.

This property has everything provided for a great vacation experience. Located on a beautiful lake with kayaks, canoes and boats available. Serene wooded surroundings, clean rooms, comfortable beds and a very responsive host.
Property is off road, very quiet peaceful location. The lake was beautiful. Unfortunately it rained some every day during our stay so outdoor activities were limited but did enjoy the cozy indoors.
We had a wonderful stay! Cabin was well stocked with everything we could ever need. Host was fantastic with communication and very responsive. Lots of exploring, fish caught and memories made! We will definitely be back!
Such a perfect spot. We took advantage of warm fall weather to kayak, and enjoyed sitting on the dock especially at sunrise. Watched a Bald Eagle feed along the shore. The house is roomy, casual, well loved and welcoming. Nicely stocked kichen and lovely views of the lake. Our dog loved the private yard, and lake too. Incredibly quiet and peaceful and well situated between the two ends of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore on a road ablazz with Fall color. Communication was great, check in and out a breeze. Would definitely come again. Summer must be a blast.
We enjoyed snowmobiling right from the cabin with a short distance to the trails. Home had nice accommodations with beautiful views. Host ensured any questions were addressed and was available if needed. We’ll be back! Thank you!
Great location for us to ride trails in multiple areas, with easy access. Host was extremely helpful. Wonderful place, beautiful lake, and lots of outdoor amenities to take advantage of.
If you've found this place you're likely lost, which is hopefully right where you wanted to be. Nevins lake is a tranquil paradise on the edge of the Pictured Rocks park. Hosts were great, and communication was superb. Parking is well thought-out, and check-in and check-out were very straight-forward. Will be renting again for sure.
Very clean, beautiful view, lots of little extras. We fished, did some sightseeing, and had a very relaxing stay. The house was clean, and the owners were super friendly and helpful.
The cabin was a lovely home base for visiting the many natural wonders of the UP. It was well appointed with all conveniences. We enjoyed fishing, cooking and reading.
We had a great time and cant wait to return, the lake is awesome and location puts you in the middle of a lot of fun things. Zero complaints this was a great vacation that we look forward to doing again. A++
This was a great location for a weekend snowmobile trip with the guys. There was plenty of room for four grown men to sleep comfortably, with beds to spare. We would definitely stay again.
We were delighted with the well kept, clean home, but even more delighted with the setting. It was beautiful, peaceful, pristine and good for the soul. We look forward to returning some day.
Had a bit of a hard time finding the house because signs mentioned in directions were covered in snow. All was as advertised. Great location for snowmobiling. Nick was very attentive and answered any questions we had quickly. All in all a great experience!
We truly enjoyed our stay here. Owners were super responsive and home is so cozy but with plenty of room. Location is beautiful and very private. House has everything you could want - dock for fishing, paddle boat, kayaks, swing set, and lots of space for friends and family. We would highly recommend this property and these owners. We would definitely stay again!
Great house beautiful property. One of the best locations you will find for snowmobile riding trail is right down the street gas is close. Hope to come back for many more years
Stayed here with our four children for a long fall weekend and had a great time. The kayaks were a hit with the kids as well as having a nightly fire. We hiked chapel falls and Rock which was the second favorite activity. Definitely would return.
The cabin and its location were both great and made for a perfect stay for couples, or would be a great place to bring your family. The property was very conveniently located to many great attractions, yet very quiet and peaceful at night. The owners were great to deal with, provided good insight on things to do and see, and made for a very nice stay. We would definitely come back.
We loved our booking on Nevins Lake! The cottage was extremely clean and very cozy. Had everything we needed and more. Nick was an excellent host and even helped us with a problem we had with our boat so we could enjoy the lake even more. The loons were the highlight of the lake. Thanks Nick!
Lake house was beautiful the lake was so peaceful we enjoyed our trip very much. Our host Nick was very friendly and the communication was the best that i have encountered in all my stays with Vrbo. It was a little tricky finding the cottage. But Nick quickly got back to us with directions. the cott
We very much enjoyed our stay on Nevins Lake at the Nook. Very clean! everything we could need in the kitchen and the bathroom supplied. We were very comfortable, loved the lake, though too cold to get in in November in Michigan. We hope to come back in warmer times and make use of the kayaks! They thought of everything, and were very good to work with, communicate with. We recommend staying here for that much needed quiet break!
