The Sri Mariamman Temple is Singapore's oldest Hindu temple. It is an agamic temple, built in the Dravidian style. The oldest parts of the existing brick structure date to 1843, and additions and alterations were subsequently made at various points in the history of the temple. It is believed that most of this work, especially the elaborate plaster sculptures and ornamentation, were produced by skilled craftsmen from the Nagapattinam and Cuddalore districts of Tamil Nadu in South India. Room, double room too small for two people and luggage. Only one bedside table and unusual to have wash basin in bedroom rather than bathroom. Sink stained. Hotel staff brilliant, friendly and helpful. Would not stay again due to size of room.
