Great accommodation in a great location

This property was exactly as described in the ad and the pictures. Everything that we needed was available. The location is perfect, just close enough to get to everthing you need like grocery stores, restaurants etc very easily; yet far enough away so that you can enjoy quiet beaches with excellent snorkeling. The hosts, Thilo and Maria, and the caretaker, Sonja were exceptionally quick to respond to any and all queries. I would definitely stay here again and strongly recommend it anyone planning a trip to Barbados.

great location

the apartment was in a great location, very short walk to many restaurants, shops, and beach. We did not cook, but the kitchen seemed well stocked. there were excellent AC units and ceiling fans in all the rooms. lovely view from the balcony.

Beautiful location in Speightstown

Property is in a great oceanfront location, the views were amazing and the accommodations perfect. A very thorough info package was sent giving us all the details we needed to make our stay enjoyable. The condo itself was very comfortable, had all the amenities we needed. Comfortable Apartment in a Great Location!

We had a wonderful week staying in the Carib Edge apartment. Super comfortable furniture throughout - and roomy front terrace for lounging. Speightstown is a quiet location with wonderful beach bar and restaurants within short walking distance. Highly recommend!

Wonderful stay

My mother and I stayed for a week. The apartment was in an ideal location with easy access to buses, mini vans, supermarkets and restaurants. The apartment itself is a wonderful space with everything needed to feel completely at home. Thilo is a responsive host who provided all of the details we would need from taxi services, the necessary codes and directions to make accessing the apartment easy, and valuable info about the area. He was there to meet us and gave a quick tour of the apartment. Overall the building is quiet and very well maintained. While accessible to transportation, restaurants etc. Sand street is quiet and very peaceful.

Location, location, location

Nice open concept with a beautiful balcony situated in a such way that captures the tropical breezes and stunning sunsets. Right across the street from a four star restaurant, down the block from a stellar bakery and within walking distance from the best fish cutters on the island at the Caboose, known by the locals as “the boat”. This town has beautiful sand bottom beaches with umbrellas, chairs and a nice mix of upscale bars and local establishments. This VRBO with it’s many amenities gives you everything you could want in an island vacation.

Prewinter Beautiful Escape

Location was good: walking distance to everything we needed. Mobility: bus station a 1 minute walk. Beaches: nice beaches within walking distance Food: Good tasting local food. Food (groceries and restaurants) was approximately 10-15% higher than experienced in Canada. Weather: sunshine during the day...rain while you sleep- Perfect!

Carib Edge Condo

The condo was clean, comfortable, and very well stocked with all appliances….owners thought about everything to make the guests feel at home. Nice neighborhood and excellent beach! Thilo, the gist, communicated promptly and accurately. Have to take some stairs to access the property, could be a slight workout. The property was very secure, with private and gates access. I would recommend, and stay there again.

Perfect location

We know the block and were a smaller party than usual, but still wanted the penthouse feel, so we chose Carib Edge. I can not speak highly enough of Thilo who has communicated right through booking process and informed us of changes in local covid policy, etc. He even let us know when there was a water problem (burst main up the road), which is super efficient. The apartment is well furnished and the kitchen has everything I could have needed to cook in a permanent basis. Thanks Thilo - this was great.

Third Time Wonderful Too

Our third visit was every bit as enjoyable as our previous two stays. Carib Edge is a wonderful place to relax and appreciate the warmth and ocean breezes - both inside the spacious apartment, and out on the large patio. The apartment is well equipped and very comfortable. Speightstown is small, and relatively quiet, but has all the basic necessities, along with a handful of good restaurants and bars, and an amazing bakery. Swimming directly in front of the unit was excellent again this year at high tide, although in October it does depend on the weather. The beaches just north of Carib Edge are great, too, with all the new breakwaters, and work the government did. All in all this is the perfect spot to kick back and relax, either for the entire day, or after a busy day of exploring or other activity.

Just Fabulous

Thilo's place is incredibly comfortable. I thought we would get there and maybe the furniture or something was not going to be up to snuff and generally not meeting our standards but it exceeded our standards. The apartment is great. It's close to everything in Speightstown. We got up early in the morning and went to the bread store which is pretty much steps away. A wonderful restaurant (Hugo's) is right across the street. You are not too far a drive to Holetown and multiple restaurants and entertainment there. The beach is right across the street. Thilo has snorkeling equipment in the apartment and it was available for us to use. I can't say enough about the accommodations. But more importantly, Thilo and his team were very helpful with any questions that we had. They provided tips on things to see and places to go. It was just a wonderful vacation. Thank you for sharing your space with us. We look forward to visiting again.

Well appointed, comfortable apartment close to the center of Speightstown. Could have used a little more hot water for the shower, but considering the temps, it was refreshing after a day at the beach.

Beautiful, airy oceanfront

For the second year in a row we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this well appointed,spacious and airy penthouse apartment that overlooks the ocean. Everything is provided to make one's visit perfect, from island info to beach chairs. Spending time on the comfortable patio, enjoying the sun and breeze, reading, listening to the ocean, and watching the sun set were our main activities aside from swimming and walking, and a bit of exploring. It is a wonderfully peaceful place. Any and all queries have always been promptly addressed by either Sonjia, who is onsite most of the time, or the owner. Speightstown has two grocery stores that carry all the basics, and a wonderful bakery. The new Massey's in Holetown has all the rest, including the amazing Barbados craft beer. The ocean water was crystal clear this year, and swimming was good. Conditions, of course, are weather dependant.

Wonderful penthouse apartment

This s a great location and Thilo has thought of everything. The apartment is lovely, spacious and kitted out with all you could want to a very high standard. If we come beck to Speightstown we would certainly look to stay here again. Would highly recommend.

Exceeded expectations!

My husband and I stayed 5 nights in the Carib Edge and we only wish we had longer! It is a beautiful space, in a fantastic location, convenient for shops/restaurants (it's a small town so everything is walkable) and right across from the beach which we often had to ourselves! The apartment is looked after with with care and well equipped with everything we needed - kitchen supplies, beach gear, even snorkels and masks which we used every day - there's an amazing coral reef all the way up the coast so if you like to snorkel this is the spot for it. Thilo was an incredible host right from the start - providing us with detailed information about the apartment and the area, and answering all of our questions quickly. We would go back in a heartbeat! Thank you Thilo.

Overall a nice place

A lovely apartment in a good location. There is one snag which I'll explain next, and then I will tell you more about the apartment and environs. Recently (early 2018) a restaurant opened just across the road. There is some noise from this. Firstly, there are two large kitchen extractor fans on the roof directly opposite. These make a drone from when they are switched on about 9am. It's about as loud as the sound of the surf. So, not dreadful, but a bit annoying. (We understand that they intend to install acoustic baffles, so it may be better in future.) The second source of noise is delivery and service lorries. There are only two or three of these a day, but they tend to park just below and leave their engines running. Note that when we were there, there was no music or other loud noise from the restaurant, and we had no trouble at all sleeping at night. (Though we were woken a couple of times by early morning garbage pickup.) The apartment itself is lovely and light and airy. There's air-conditioning throughout, but we just opened windows front and back and enjoyed the though-breeze. The kitchen is well equipped the living area comfortable, and there are lots of useful extra things (beach chairs, etc etc). The mosquito net in the bedroom is excellent. We have stayed in the same apartment block before, and know the area pretty well. There is a nice beach just across the road (there is some traffic on this, but nobody would describe it as "busy".) This is very quiet --- we seldom have had anyone else swimming at the same time as us. There are shoals of fish and even the occasional turtle to see just there. (If you are going to snorkel here you should use a dive float to make sure the jet-skis see you.) Speightstown itself has restaurants and shops if that's what you are looking for. In particular if you really want to self-cater like us, you can find almost everything you'll want at Eddies and Jordans, which are both a few minutes away. The town is also near to other nice beaches on the west coast. (When we were there in February 2018 the sargassum on the east coast was still a problem, so you will want to visit the east coast, but probably not swim.)

Lovely apartment with a great location

My fiance and I had a lovely week in this apartment. It is right across the road from two little beaches and you can see the sea and the sunset from the balcony. The apartment is on the top floor and nice and quiet. It has aircon throughout, although we just used the fans most of the time. It has all the facilities that you would need to have a relaxing get away: Maria and Thilo are very thoughtful and organised, and provided a very comprehensive list of useful information and contact numbers. In terms of location, the apartment is a five minute walk from a host of little restaurants and bars by the waterfront in Speightstown. You could spent the whole week hanging around Speightstown, but a (very cheap) bus service will take you further afield (north and south) where there are more beaches and great places to eat and hang out: we went to Lonestar, Mullins and Fishpot, all great. Mullins and Fishpot are each around 30mins walk, or 10 mins bus. Lonestar is 20 mins by bus. We had a lovely time and would definitely stay there again. Thank you Maria and Thilo!
