Amazing family vacation!

We loved this condo at the Colony Reef! The space wa siege t for our family of seven, the condo amenities were exactly what we wanted, and the staff there was great! Huge shout out to the maintenance man who was patient and super kind to our kids! The Hughes’ condo was well-kept and our only “wish” was that folks were allowed to leave behind basic essentials like spices and laundry detergent. It felt so wasteful to have to throw everything out. We highly recommend this place though!

Great location!

The views are amazing from this condo! We really enjoyed our stay. The property was quiet and clean. Beach access was easy and full of wildlife to enjoy, bunnies, tortoises and snakes, oh my! The only down side to this condo is that the crows nest beds don't seem to be full length twins so if your kids are bigger it might not work. Over all we loved our stay!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is our second year at Colony Reef and plan to return every year as long as long as our health allows. Everyone there is very friendly and a great location near our favorite restaurants and golf courses. Our unit is always clean on arrival and staff respond to any questions or concerns we have in a timely fashion. Not sure about other units but the only suggestion I would have for ours (and I meant to mention to office) is for a coffee maker with auto shut off.

Wonderful Easter 2019 Getaway

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family of 4 had a wonderful Easter vacation in Condo 1303. You just can't beat the view!!! Falling asleep and waking up to the sounds of the ocean was rejuvenating. We knew going in that the kitchen was a little outdated, but that was not a problem and was fully stocked with everything we needed when we cooked in. 3 bedrooms/2 baths was just enough room for us to spread out, but enjoy family time together and play games. Wish we didn't have to leave.

Construction on the boardwalk started a bit earlier than we expected and was quite loud the first couple of days. We did have a 3 day Nor'easter come through and there were some pretty bad leaks. Maintenance was very quick to get us buckets and towels to catch the leaks.

Reviewer Comments: We have been going to St. Augustine for the past 3 years and have finally found our home away from home for a couple months out of the cold winter weather in northern NY. The location of Colony Reef Club is great. Within walking distance of a few good restaurants. Grocery stores close by. There are also some nice golf courses in the area to choose from. The staff at Colony Reef are very friendly and helpful. The grounds and the complex are clean. The view from our condo was amazing. Never gets old looking out at the ocean every day. Almost daily beach walks were very nice and relaxing. Again we are so excited to have found our winter getaway for the next several years God willing.

Reviewer Comments: 1303 was a homey unit with a feeling of family which boasts the most wonderfully open view of the ocean!! The furniture and bed are very comfortable. Even though not updated, the kitchen is well stocked for cooking in! We enjoyed a family reunion for a week of sharing and sightseeing! Coming to beaches frequently, though most accommodations at St. Augustine are older, we enjoy the beach! Also, the grounds are well maintained. Colony Reef is definitely due for updating exteriorly..concrete and elevator needs! This unit was clean but the bedroom carpet is so worn it seems to be filthy! Hating to make any negative remark, I definitely would change out that carpet! It was a wonderful, relaxing stay.

good location but needs some work

The view of the ocean from the balcony is wonderful. The condo itself is ok but would greatly benefit from some updating and general maintenance. When we checked in there were lights that didn't work, light bulbs that were burned out and the ceiling fan in the living room doesn't work. The carpets REALLY need to be replaced. I think they are beyond cleaning. Rust in the kitchen sink and the faucet doesn't shut off unless you get it in just the right position. FYI.. there is no walk in shower. The master has a jacuzzi tub that is very high and the other bathroom has a tub/shower. All in all we enjoyed our weekend in St Aug and would come back... but not to this condo.

Comfortable condo with great balcony views and close to St. Augustine

We LOVED the size of this condo and location within the complex as it was an end unit with view of pool and beach from our extra large balcony compared to some condos we have rented on past vacations. There is a round table and 6 chairs on this 3rd floor balcony plus two additional older chairs. New blinds were being installed just as we we were leaving the condo to checkout. Style of furniture/decor is not updated or high end style... yet it fit our personality of beach casual comfort perfectly!!! This might be good to know for families with younger children. Loved having a bedroom with sliding glass door to the balcony - could watch the sunrise right from the bedroom. We felt very much the comfort of home as opposed to renting a hotel room. The beach was not crowded during our late May-early June stay. The beach was clean and sand so soft on the feet. The ocean water was warm. The pool on the complex was exceptional! There were people cleaning the pool each morning and doing other projects to improve the premises, so that was nice to see. We loved the area of Butler Beach up to St. Augustine (visited twice) and enjoyed many tasty restaurants during our 5 night stay. We would be happy to get to stay in this same condo in the future! :)

Just dingy and outdated

Fortunately this property is in a nice area with a spectacular view and that’s what saves it. The entire place needs an overhaul. Carpet in the master is dirty. Everything is outdated and dingy. Everything is sticky, falling apart or rusted. Curtain jn the master was broken and we couldn’t open it so we couldn’t enjoy the beautiful view from the room. Bed in master feels like you are sleeping on a trampoline. The third bedroom though was written in description was not a full bedroom but had two twins did not fit kids properly. Then to make matters worse we couldn’t all shower one after the other. If not by the second shower there would be no hot water. So 6 of us had to stagger and make sure to give enough time between showers and take short showers so everyone had a warm shower. Couches felt dirty and the chairs in the dining room were upholstered and they were dirty as well. It’s a shame because updated that place would be a great place to stay.

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The condo was as expected, a little outdated but clean. What makes this unit is the view. Amazing Ocean View as well as the pool. I didn't like the carpeting in the bedrooms but again, we knew this going into our week.I have been coming to Colony Reef the last 6 years and have always had a great experience. However, this year there were a few things that made my husband and I rethink if we want to come back again. There was a water shut off for most of the day due to a concrete leak. They posted the sign and although bothersome, we understood. Since we have five kids, we planned that day to go into town instead of the beach so we lost the beach day. 2 days later, there was no notice posted and we are woken up at 8:30 in the morning to Jack hammering and the water was again shut off. This was definitely annoying as we couldn't use toilets or anything and I had grumpy kids on my hands. For the first time ever, the pool was not available outside to swim after dark. My kids and I loved doing those late night swims and this was a huge disappointment. We heard because the lighting wasn't up to code and this is something that definitely needs to get fixed and I hope it does before next year. We also learned they changed the security. The guard was extremely harsh. Anytime my kids would dip their toes in the hot tub, he would come barreling out and continue to watch all of us and it was very uncomfortable. I understand he's just doing his job but it was way Overkill. Taking all those things into account, made our stay less than Stellar this year. My husband's family has been coming for over 40 years. We rented four units this year and are going to possibly look around to go somewhere else if some of these things remain the same. On a positive note, the boardwalk was redone and is beautiful. It makes walking down to the beach with all of our stuff so much easier.

This is a well-maintained and professionally managed condo association near to downtown. The administrative staff is responsive and friendly. St. Augustine is a charming city with an unmatched (U.S.) history, excellent restaurants and music scene. It's local colleges and the county library system round out the experience.
