SGI Vacation

The house suited our needs perfectly. We enjoyed our stay. Kitchen reasonably well equipped. Call on the hot tub was addressed quickly.

Sandstone on SGI

Very peaceful stay with incredible views! After a lifetime of trips to the island, this was one of the most relaxing, peaceful and perfect stays we've ever had. Saving this trip as a fave and hoping to come back soon! Thank you to Vacasa and the owners of Sandstone!

Great location!

We had a great long weekend on St. George Island! Sandstone is in a great location. We loved being able to walk out of the house on to the beach. The gear credit was a huge plus for us, and we enjoyed our bikes!

Great proximity to the beach - great wrap around deck

The location was great, with a small walk down a private boardwalk to the beach. The wrap around deck was able to be closed off from the stairs with 2 x wide fit baby gates we brought with us and we could let our toddlers run laps around.

Met our needs, but wasn't super impressed!

Our stay at Sandstone met our needs, however, the place definitely needs some sprucing up. The kitchen cabinets are barely in tact, the bathrooms are extremely dated, but overall, we enjoyed the beach, the Plantation ammenities and St. George Island! Couches are comfy and everything else was satisfactory. I would rent in The Plantation again, but wouldn't rent Sandstone again.

Older but nice house right on the water

This is an older but nice house right on the water. House itself needs some serious updating. Dishwasher is barely funtional and only one jet group out of the two works on the jacuzzi. Fresh paint would do wonders. But can't beat the location. Right on the water. We had every breakfast and dinner on the porch waching and listening to the waves. All in all, fairly minor issues. Plenty of dishes and silverware and lots of cooking tools. I think the price is a little steep thought given the age and condition of the house

Piece of paradise!🏖️

Loved everything being on one level. Enjoyed the windows overlooking the gulf, great view. Had everything u would need to cook with. My family had a great time. They rode bikes. We looked for seashells. Played corn hole. Took our chairs to the beach at night and looked for satellites. We saw several. Enjoyed the deck with the rocking chairs and picnic table. The only negatives would be: if u had a family member with limited mobility this would not be the place for them. Lots of stairs going into the house and to the beach. Also, the right front burner on the stove does not work. We had a blast and will be back.

Private beachfront with great location generally.

The positives of the property are indeed location. The plantation is a secure community on St. George Island and this home was directly on the beach. So for location, it gets 5 stars. A few suggestions would be the following-The property aesthetically is pretty tired and could use a deep cleaning and some improvements Especially in the kitchen. The reviews indicate a dripping sink which continues to go unaddressed. We also experienced that. The spray nozzle was also corroded with mildew. I feel like the property management and cleaning crew are not giving this home Adequate attention. The outdoor sink and grill were filthy and unusable. The property also advertises access to Clubhouse amenities, but we could not get the property manager to call us back with a gate code before we were ready to leave. The landscaping and grounds are in significant need of attention. It made the home look almost abandoned. Overall, for location, we would rent this place again, but stress the importance of improving the aesthetics a bit more for the price.

Excellent location, average home

This location was wonderful for our 2 families (4 adults and 5 kids, under age 12). The home was wonderfully close to a private and quiet beach, and located in a gated community. The home itself had a nice, one story layout. Two master bedrooms with private baths, and two secondary rooms sharing a bathroom off its’ own hallway. As stated by other reviewers, the home could certainly use some TLC. It was, however, very clean and the beds were just fine. There is an ABUNDANCE of dishes, and all needed appliances/kitchenware (no Keurig). The rocking chairs on the covered porch were lovely, especially during the storms. It should be noted that the drier was not working well, and had to be run multiple times even with small loads. Also, the front door stairs were dangerously slick when wet (for some reason, they were polyurethaned?) and both an adult and child slipped and fell. While the boardwalk was short and convenient, the brush was very overgrown and slapped our faces and arms walking down the stairs. A maintenance request was submitted for this, but we received no reply. There were also many rusty nails/screws in the boards that required walking carefully, or with shoes on for safety. Also, a 4x4” post barely sticking out of the sand at the end of the boardwalk should be removed for safety (one of the kids tripped and skinned up his foot on it). The outdoor shower and water hoses were very nice to have for rinsing bodies and beach toys. We also enjoyed the hot tub more than we expected! The Wi-Fi signal was great. We didn’t have time to use the neighborhood amenities, but those were nice options to have. Everything (aside from the drier) was functioning properly, and clean, and we all enjoyed our stay very much.

Amazing Location for the price

The neighborhood and property made for an idyllic beach vacation. The only downside is the hot tub never got above 88 and the master suite is right off the living room/kitchen, so can be really noisy. But the house, balcony, beach and overall layout made for a great trip.

This house was amazing for our stay on St. George! It was a great size and I love that it was dog friendly. Yes, the reviews are correct in that some of the stuff in the home is outdated and I agree that it could definitely use a little revamp, but honestly we preferred the house feeling “lived in.” Didn’t make me feel as paranoid about having my dogs there. It was our pets’ first experience at the beach and I wouldn’t have wanted it to happen anywhere else. The beach is a private one so there was plenty of sand space and privacy. The back porch was AMAZING; loved spending mornings and evenings out there. The beach and ocean view is breathtaking, and having it right in your backyard is such a wonderful experience. We also used their jacuzzi every evening and loved the windy evenings in there! We definitely plan to use this house again whenever we go back to St. George! Definitely recommend.

Enjoyed the stay at the Sandstone!

Overall, a great stay at a beautiful beach. Plantation keeps things very secluded and safe. Beach access was a short boardwalk walk down to the beach, which was never too crowded. House was as described, very nice and clean. All amenities were supplied and no issues on our stay. The house was very accomodating and safe for our pets also. Had a great time and the house was very comfortable and provided a great view throughout the day.

Great location but needs maintenance

Property needs general maintenance. Sofa and love seat had dog hair and smelled. Rusted faucets in bathrooms. One electrical outlet didn’t work and one outlet had no face plate. Property manager was responsive. No hair dryer and very old grill. Edges of rugs curled up and trip hazard. Expected more on the Plantation.

A little tired

Had a great stay but house could use a fresh coat of paint, Sheetrock repairs. Also fix or replace the kitchen faucet (dripped). Entry keypad didn’t work even after contacting Vacasa and trying several codes. The emergency key lockbox was empty due to the fact the previous guest dropped it off at the local office for some reason. Luckily there was a maintenance team repairing some boardwalk planks and let us in.

Great view but needs work

The view was fabulous! However, some of the dishes and silverware were dirty. We had to re-wash them. The shower heads in the secondary bathrooms were horrible. Everyone used the shower in the master bedroom. Some of the remotes for the tv did not have batteries. The hot tub was not useable until our fifth day. Would not book this house again.

Digital codes snafu

It’s a great property plenty of room very nice oceanfront. Snafu with checking in the code didn’t work. Call the number ended up texting. Kept giving me new codes that didn’t work. They finally got in when someone local texted and asked how clean the place was and we told him we couldn’t get in and they gave us the code for the lockbox.

House was on the beach with a nice boardwalk. There was a fish cleaning station and hot tub (takes a while to heat up). The grill was not very good - bad shape - charcoal only. Lots of pots and pans, to include large ones for the shrimp boil. Coffee pot and microwave did not work. Master bed collapsed on us the first night. Very close to the tennis court - walking/biking distance. House all on one level, which can be a plus or minus, depending on your personal situation. We would have preferred things a little more spread out. House smelled a little musty and needs some repairs. Super steep driveway (both sides). We scraped pretty bad pulling in so heads-up. Overall, not a bad house for a small family. Wi-fi was good.
