Nice house, great location

We loved our stay here. The house was perfect for my family. My only suggestion would be to provide soap of some kind in the kitchen area and provide extra towels.

Location was everything

We enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect with quick walking access to the beach and stores with a beautiful view of the ocean. The property has been neglected and would benefit with some cosmetic improvement, but is reflected in the price compared to others. Check in wasn’t friendly, as if we were not welcome, but they did allow us to stay an extra night. We would stay again.

The ocean was visible from the room/deck. The place is very conveniently located to the beach with literally just walking across the street and you're on to the sand. It's probably a 10-minute walk from things like the lighthouse and the restaurants and stores in the middle of the island which is not bad at all. The place was very clean. But like many reviews, State the place is also a little outdated and needs some TLC to get it up to an excellent stay. Bed in the upper bedroom shook with little effort. With all the lights off, arriving at night was not very friendly. But we figured it out. The lower bedroom is detached from all of the rest of the house. Which is good if you have a couple or an individual staying who you can trust to be separated from the group. But if you're trying to put young kids in both the second and third bedrooms, this is not ideal. The water was very smelly at first because it has been sitting in a tank. Not doing much for a long time. There is a lot of moisture in the air on St. George Island and the bedrooms could stand a solid carpet cleaning and refreshing. And the east side of the building needs a gutter because there's so much moisture nightly that it begins dripping off the house in the evening and all night long onto the stairs that you have to take to get to the laundry which is in the detached bedroom. Despite a few issues it was a very complete house that was convenient and we did enjoy our stay.

Great location-Needs updating!

Great location and view of the water. House is very dated and needs new deck furniture. Only has 2 low sitting chairs so you cannot see the ocean. However, the bed was very comfortable and we had a great time.

Great Stay

We enjoyed our stay at Catbird Seat. One thing I did not realize is that the bottom bedroom is completely separate from the rest of the house. It has its own entrance on the ground floor and this is where the washer and dryer is located as well. Check in was a breeze and we were able to check in at 2 instead of 4. The views were nice and the AC kept the house freezing. I had to turn it up from the normal temp that I keep my house at because I was always so cold!

Nice vacation!

A lovely cozy house with a beautiful view of the bay. Clean towels and bed linens were provided. I ran a bit short on funds for laundry and showering; there was also a shortage of toilet paper and paper towels. Additionally, there was inadequate outdoor lighting on the first floor and external power outlets. Apart from that, everything was good.

Catbird Seat Stay

Great location. Comfortable home that felt like a time capsule back to 1977. No updated anything which was fine by me. The bedroom setup was nice for separation although the light switches upstairs weren’t working which was an inconvenience. The management were helpful when needed which was nice.

A wonderful stay in a nice house

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall our stay was wonderful. This house is in a great location and has beautiful ocean views. The beach is just a 3 or 4 minute walk from the house and far enough from public beaches that it wasn’t crowded. The ground level bedroom had a dedicated air conditioner which worked well and was clean. There is a small powder room so you don’t have to go upstairs to use a toilet and sink.The washer works well but the dryer does not heat and did not dry our clothes and towels, even after several rounds of drying. I used the deck to hang dry as much as possible. The main house was comfortably sized and the kitchen was clean and well stocked. The fridge is missing some of the bars that keep things from falling off the door shelves, which limited space in the fridge and freezer, but it worked well otherwise. The dining space was ample, with a large table and breakfast bar. The living room furniture was nice, but there wasn’t enough seating for the max occupancy of 6 people between the couch and two chairs. The bathroom on the main level has a walk-in shower that has a very narrow opening to get into the shower (less than 18” wide). There were some dirty spots in corners where it was obvious that it had not been deep cleaned in some time but the majority of the space was clean. The adjoining bedroom was clean and comfortable. The bed was quite firm but there were lots of extra pillows available.The bedroom upstairs does not have a door but is fairly private. It was clean and comfortable. It also has a firm bed. The bathroom upstairs was mostly clean, but like downstairs, had a few places that needed a good scrub. It has a bathtub with a shower and had plenty of space to get into as it has a curtain. The outdoor soffits need some vinyl replaced/repaired and the toilets are older and need to be recaulked but the property was in good condition overall.

Reviewer Comments: Great Location and view from across the street; Can easily park 2 vehicles underneath for shade; very clean even though an older house. A couple of things to work on; 1. Walk in shower on the main floor has the wrong size doors on it so you only have about 20 inches to get in. Larger people can NOT get in the shower. 2. Outdoor shower needs a better place to stand and the growth should be cut back. Overall a very good price for the stay and I would go there again.

Reviewer Comments: The location was perfect and super close to the local grocery store, coffee shop and restaurants. We came to get away from the craziness of the city we are from and we got that. But oh boy do you guys need to update this unit. Upon arrival, I had to wipe down all the surfaces with Clorox wipes because dust/grime was sitting on all surfaces. I also had to sweep and vacuum the floors from all the dust and hair that your cleaning crew forgot to take care of. The carpet in the main bedroom on the main floor had stains. The AC vent in that same bedroom blasted AC to the head of the bed every time it was on so we had to push the bed towards the wall so that we could get away from the vent a little in order to sleep. It stormed a couple of days during our stay and water kept leaking through the window of the upstairs bedroom where the AC unit was located therefore shutting off the AC unit. Pretty dangerous if you ask me. The light bulbs for the outdoor lighting weren’t all appropriately lit for the turtles. The dishwasher was very outdated and kept water pooled at the bottom and did not clean dishes too well. Lastly the Adirondack chairs were the most uncomfortable chairs and disabled your view to the ocean. Other than all that, the views and lack of many other vacationers made our stay worth it.

Having stayed there before (a long time ago, it still took our breath away. Once you get past that you can appreciate the house. The wooden beams and ceiling, the flooring. And if you're a kitchen person - lots of cabinets and space. I loved that there was plenty of utensils and plates, etc.Was it perfect?... no. But it was perfect enough for hubs and me. It took us a couple of days to get the TV to work and called the Suncoast about it and they weren't helpful and never got back to us.but we weren't there to watch TV. Somethings we never figured out... like the light fixture over the table? Again, did it take away from our vacation?.. no. Pack

Great Beach View from the Catbird Seat!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: You couldn’t ask for a better view from a rental across the street from the beach. Beach access is also just across the street from this property. There is drip coffee maker as well as a Keurig, a 4 slice toaster, and dishwasher and oven/stove. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, cooking and eating utensils. Make sure to bring extra paper towels, toilet paper, dish detergent etc. Refrigerator doesn’t have an ice maker, there are a few ice trays. One of the three TVs is in the ground floor room. No DVD player. This room only has a half bath, so anyone sleeping there would have to go up to the main floor to shower. Beds were comfortable, as mentioned in a previous review we couldn’t find a way to turn on the ceiling fan and light in the loft bedroom. The sliding shower door in the bathroom on the living room level would be a problem for anyone with a large stature. When open there is only about a foot of space to get into the shower! The doors need to be changed to a hinged type door. Locks on the Sliding glass doors to the balconies need to be replaced! They have screws pushed into holes that were drilled into the frame to keep the doors from opening. The screws can be removed so you can open the door but they are difficult to put back. The Adirondack chairs on the deck are not very comfortable and it’s hard to see the view when sitting in them. All of the things mentioned above are minor issues that didn’t have any effect on our experience in the house. It is located in an area that allows easy access to shops, restaurants, grocery, gas and the bridge to Eastpoint. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Catbird Seat!

Great Vacation Rental

It’s an older home so there’s some very minor wear and tear, but it’s right across the street from the beach! The kitchen, dining, and living room area is spacious and comfortable. Walking across the street to the beach takes 2 minutes and it feels like a private beach since this area has few homes and most of the tourist crowd is further east and west. The ground floor bedroom and half bath is detached from the rest of the house, so you need to walk outside and up the stairs to the main level. This was not an issue for us, and actually gave us a bit of privacy which we enjoyed. St. George Island has no large chain hotels and many small businesses. It has a great small town feel. We loved it and are ready to go back!

Catbird has the best location for a quiet and convenient beach vacation! Just 20 min to the amazing St George Island State Park and a 3 min walk to the beach from the house. Perfect views from the main floor balcony!

Home is slightly dated, and could use some deep cleaning and a new coffee pot. One pot of coffee takes about 1.5 hours to brew, I recommend bringing your own. But the house has everything else you need. TVs in the bedrooms do not work but who’s watching tv at the beach anyways. Perfect walking distance to anything you want and a room the street from the beach is the best plus ever!
