Beautiful property but frustrations with the air conditioning

The home and the view were beautiful. The house was described as being fully air conditioned. There were Nest thermostats in the two bedrooms and downstairs. Unfortunately they were programmed to go up in temperature throughout the day and at night. We were able to adjust the temperature but the pre programming would cause the temperature to increase again. This was a challenge for my elderly parents who tried not to go up and the steps too often. My poor father would go upstairs to take a nap and I would be 90 degrees in the bedroom. It would take two hours to cool the bedroom. This required a call to the management company and the owner of the property to resolve. Unfortunately my parents suffered for several days before the resolution took place.

Stunning cliff side ocean view

I had to pry myself away from the balcony overlooking the ocean every morning. It’s not often that you’ll find a vacation home like Bordo Mare. It’s proximity to the water is captivating.

An Oceanside Gem!

We give this stay an A! From the time we booked our trip, the owner was in contact to confirm the booking and begin making recommendations to make our stay extra fun. The house was great too. And that VIEW - even better than the photos. I will say the house could use a little TLC. Maybe it was because we visited toward the end of the season, but things just seemed like they could use a little sprucing (pressure washing, pool chemicals, dishwasher operation, and other deep cleaning). This is the ONLY reason I would not give this stay an A+. Overall the place was very clean, modern, and well-functioning though. If you haven't ever spent time on St. John, be advised that water conservation is an issue. We ran out of water one morning, but the owner's representative responded right away and fixed the problem. In fact, I can't say enough nice things about the caretakers - there was a meal and wine in the fridge when we arrived and one of the guys (Jared) even gave us a ride one day when he saw us walking down the hot street! Thanks again! I will offer one small bit of advice. This house is not walking distance to any food/beverage/retail, etc. You will need to rent a car. We got the hang of getting into town easily by the second day or so, so this was not a big deal for us in the end. And the beautiful view and added privacy made up for any inconvenience of driving into town. Stay here. You'll love it!

Perfect Island, Perfect House, Perfect Vacation

We rented Bordo Mare for a week in February. We couldn't have been happier with the house! Perched right on the ocean's edge, the views were amazing! The house has absolutely everything you could want or need, very well outfitted and very comfortable. Both bedrooms are large with well-equipped bathrooms and the same spectacular view of the ocean. We used the pool on multiple occasions, great place to float and relax after a day at the beach. The expansive deck has great outdoor furniture. Bugs were non-existant. This house is a short drive into Cruz Bay for restaurants and night life. Highly recommend!

Perfect vacation with family and friends

We truly enjoyed our stay at your place. Thank you for giving us this opportunity to create such memories with our dear friends during the first week and my brother and his wife the second week. We all loved the view, so spectacular each day to wake up to the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks. We even witnessed the visit of a whale and her calf as we were sitting on the deck having lunch. Wow!! I love to cook and found the kitchen well equipped, what a treat to have the luxuries of home in a rental. The beds were very comfortable, another treat that is rare in a rental. Thank you for the dinner you left for us in the fridge upon our arrival, so unexpected and so very kind of you. Thank you for having your housekeeper come during mid-stay to clean the house, another unexpected treat. You went above and beyond any owner I have ever dealt with. Thank you again. We look forward to our next trip to this special island and most especially to your lovely villa.

Perfect Stay on St. John

First St. John; if you are looking for small, easy, laid back island life, this is it. Come and relax. Great beaches, snorkeling, sailing. Great small central town area with restaurants and bars. Bordo Mare is a great spot. Easy drive into town and to the beaches. Rent a jeep. Very comfortable, clean villa. Owner is very easy to work with, really works to make sure everything is in order. He thinks of all the little things..beach towels, coolers, etc. Nothing better than you morning coffee, or your sunset beverage on the deck overlooking the ocean, or out by the pool. My family loves St. John and we love this home. Our 2nd visit, we stayed at this owners other villa, Sopra Mare, and equally as nice. You will not be disappointed with this villa.

Perfect for our family of 5

Mike has thought of everything with this rental...It's hard to know where to start. We went to St. John to experience the beauty of the beaches in the National Park, but it was so nice to have such a beautiful home base to come back to after a day out and about. The overall design of the home is just perfect- the photos on the listing do not do it justice. Both bedrooms and main floor living spaces have accordion-style doors that allow you to open them completely (no wall at all between you and the ocean views!). You essentially feel like you are outside when you have them open. It was amazing to just sit and relax on one of the decks each morning and evening. Definitely my favorite part of the home. The pool was perfect for our kids, ages 7, 9 and 10. It looks small in the photos but it was more than enough for fun times after a day at the beach. It was so fun for them, in fact, that we skipped one day at the beach to just enjoy the pool. Location is also perfect, although a rental car is needed. The road to the home is curvy and hilly and the driveway is very steep. It's good to have a jeep anyway for all the trips to the beaches. Taxis run often, but it's nice to have the flexibility of your own car. It's about 7 minutes to town for restaurants and groceries. Mike even provides nice chairs, towels and coolers for your trips to the beaches. He really has thought of everything. All in all, it was a perfect spot for our family. It was our first "beach" vacation and it won't be our last. Thank you to Mike and his team!

Perfect Island Retreat

We just returned after an idyllic week at Bordo Mare on St. John, and we all debated whether the group arriving the afternoon we left would mind our staying with them another week. For a get-away-from-it-all vacation that still has easy access to some civilization, this place was perfect. Fantastic sunrises and sunsets every day (you can see both from the amazing decks) and millions of stars visible at night before the moon rose. Sitting on our deck with cold drinks quickly became a nightly ritual. During the day, we spent either lounging around the pool or exploring the national park and beaches on the island - each beach had its own unique flair. A couple of days on the water snorkeling as well. The town of Cruz Bay also had lots to do - great restaurants and beach bars and there were hidden little finds all over the island. Bottom line - Bordo Mare was a one-of-a-kind home in a wonderful location. If you are looking for an island vacation in a wonderful spot, you can't get any better than this one.

First Visit But Not Our Last!

This was our first time staying at Bordo Mare but definitely not our last. The villa itself is all about luxury but even better than that is the spectacular views from almost any where in the villa, especially from the large balconies. You feel as though you are on a private island. The sunsets may be the best ever but the view is always great any time of the day or night. You have it all there....views, pool, luxury, location, shopping and privacy. Thanks Mully for making this vacation memorable!

Dazzling Caribbean View

My husband and I just returned from our wonderful stay at Bordo Mare. What is most memorable are the spectacular views throughout the villa. They are surely among the best on St. John. It's as though you are perched above the sea on your private island as you scan the expansive views of the Caribbean and islands in the distance. From the privacy of your balconies or your bed you can enjoy sunrises, sunsets, and dazzling night skies. And yet, the location is convenient to all the island has to offer. You sense that every detail has been thoughtfully considered and then carefully executed. The design and appointments throughout are sophisticated as well as accommodating and, of course, meticulously maintained. We enjoyed great days snorkeling, diving, exploring and dining around the island. However, watching the sunset from our lofty roost at Bordo Mare as we sipped some wine over a game of cribbage soon became a highlight of our day. These warm memories of our stay will help get us through the frigid East Coast winter as will looking forward to returning to St. John and Bordo Mare.

Paradise

I write this review as I sit on the balcony of Bordo Mare watching the sunrise on the last day of our vacation. Bordo Mare has jaw dropping views from every angle, is appointed beautifully and the kitchen has everything you need to cook as little or as much as you''d like on your trip. We've stayed here with our 11 yr and 14 yr old children and the villa had ample room for everyone and a strong wifi signal. Bordo Mare is close to Cruz Bay but feels like a world away when sitting on the balconies making you feel as if you have the island to yourself. Mulley was fantastic to work with while planning the trip and the greeters when we arrived on the island helped get us settled and coordinated with our Jeeps rental so we were set once we arrived on the dock. Can't wait to return.

Vacation Of A Lifetime

My wife and I just completed a three week stay at Bordo Mare. We have been to St John 6 times now and have tried to seek out the best 2 bedroom homes on the island during our stays. All of the other homes we have stayed in have been excellant homes, but this home far surpasses them all. Beginning with the ease of working with the owner, to the first rate on island greeter, to the unbelievable housekeeper, everything is as you would hope it would be. Every room has floor to ceiling windows with outdoor seating areas in all of those locations as well. All of this to view the continuous boat traffic on the picture perfect blue water below. There is ease of access to Cruz Bay (5-10 minutes), wonderful beds and bedding, beach chairs, coolers of any size, an awesome pool with great views, outstanding gas grill for the chef in you, and a completely stocked kitchen all the way down to a cigar cutter in case you forgot yours. We absolutely wanted for nothing during our stay and would call this the vacation of our lifetime due in large part to Bordo Mare. I would tell you that if this home is within your budget, or maybe a little out of it, take the plunge you will be glad you did.

Simply the best...

My Mom and I spent Thanksgiving week at Bordo Mare. We have been coming to St John since I was a kid and have stayed at many different places. This was our best experience yet. The views from this house are unsurpassed yet you are close enough to the water to here the crashing waves. The house decor is great with a casual elegance. WiFi worked very well and was nice to have. The house is kept in new condition and was immaculate when we arrived. It was nice to be met at the dock and escorted to the house by Jared. We got in late and they had a dinner waiting for us in the refrigerator if we wanted it. What a pleasant surprise. It really is first class service. Beds are super comfortable and I slept great. We accidentally locked ourselves out of one safe. A quick phone call and someone was right over to open it for us. It really is a wonderful place with great service. It's something you need to experience.

Slice of Heaven

Bordo Mare is truly a slice of heaven; the challenge with staying there is that you find it very hard to leave because the view is so magnificent, the outside decks are so nice just to hang out on and you have a wonderful pool that has a stunning view with a table/chairs built into the pool that makes it so comfortable to hang out in. Bordo Mare is very convenient to all the gorgeous beaches on Saint Johns. We rented from Amalie Car Rental in St. Thomas (highly recommend them) and came over on the car barge which worked out so well. A contact meets you at the dock in St. Johns and takes you up to Bordo Mare, very short drive and goes over all the cool features of the house. Really classy that there is dinner for that night waiting for you in the refrigerator. We cannot wait to return, the BEST vacation that we have ever had and the BEST house we have ever rented on VRBO. Thanks Mulley!!

Beautiful Home~Amazing View~Great Location~Infinity Pool~Quiet Neighborhood~Extra Amenities

Our family just returned from a week's vacation at the Bordo Mare in St. John. We had an absolutely incredible time, due in part to our superb lodging. The owner of this property was a pleasure to work with, very attentive to our needs and quick to respond to questions. The property itself is beautiful, well-maintained and in a great, quiet neighborhood. The house overlooks Chocolate Hole, with nothing to block your view of the ocean. We saw numerous sea turtles surfacing for air while sitting on the balcony. The home itself contained literally everything we needed, plus some. Our family has rented numerous rental properties over the years, mainly along the eastern coast of the US. We have never encountered a home that was stocked with coolers, beach chairs, beach towels, bath towels, linens, tissues, toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap and laundry detergent to name a few. These may seem like trivial items, but to our family showed proof of pride of ownership and treating a customer as a true guest. Another thoughtful & appreciated touch was a healthy dinner & bottle of wine that was waiting for us at the house at check-in. A real meal following a full day of travel was much appreciated. The bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen were spacious and the beds were comfortable. Multiple dining areas inside and out. The house is located 10 minutes from Cruz Bay which has restaurants, shopping and grocery stores. The owner also had a pack-n-play & high chair available for us, with most other properties that would be an additional rental fee. This home is great for small families or for 2 couples. We hope to return to St. John & Bordo Mare in the future!

Best Vacation Ever!!

Just spent a week at beautiful Bordo Mare with my wife and another couple for our 10 year anniversary. I have to say it was my best vacation ever, the villa is absolutely amazing. The views are incredible and the villa has everything you could possibly need. Mike made the booking process easy and the communication was great regarding any questions I had. The location is great, less than 10 minutes to Cruz Bay and about 15 to the start of famous north shore. St John is such an awesome place and Bordo Mare is the perfect villa for two couples or a small family. I will definitely be back. A++

Paradise on Earth!

This is our second time on St. John, first time renting with Mulley. This experience is first class all the way - lots of great touches. Examples are a chicken dinner waiting for us on arrival, and a property manager who was willing to stop at the grocery store with us if needed. These little touches make all the difference in the arrival experience. The villa itself was wonderful and was well appointed...contemporary finishes and everything was clean and new. Coolers, beach chairs, pool rafts and everything you could possibly want in a kitchen. Views to die for and awesome deck furniture...great view from the pool as well. What more could you want in a vacation home? We will definitely rent from Mulley again, he has truly thought of everything.

No Better Place

From the beginning of booking with Mulley, to the end of not wanting to leave, the word would be INCREDIBLE! This villa has it all! Breathtaking viewS, great Infiniti pool, and excellent location. The balcony is where you want to be the moment you walk into the door. A dining table on balcony where you can enjoy dinner with a wonderful ocean view and breeze. The balcony also has an outstanding sitting area to enjoy morning coffee, reading and enjoying family or time with friends. I highly recommend Bordo Mare!

Exceptional

We came to Bordo Mare with our two teenage boys. The villa far exceeded expectations. The kitchen is much larger than it seems in the pictures. It has all the amenities. The family room is comfortable and well decorated. The two bedrooms and baths are large and the beds were great. The swimming pool was perfect in the evenings for a relaxing swim. The towels, beach chairs, coolers and all the extras are well thought out. The best thing about this place are the large two story patios with amazing views. My husband and I spent our mornings sitting watching the boats and waves. It is extremely peaceful and washed the stress away. The house is located 8 minutes from Cruz Bay on paved roads. It was our second trip to St John and we will be back. I would not hesitate to book Bordo Mare again.

Amazing as always!

Bordo Mare

This was our first trip to St. John and won't be our last! Bordo Mare is absolutely beautiful and everything the description states and more. Everything in the home is top notch and the view is spectacular! Mulley was very easy to deal with and always responded right away to any of my endless questions. He was even kind enough to reassure me that my daughter, who wasn't coming with us, could have both his and Jared's number in case of an emergency. Anyone who rents this home will not be disappointed. It is close enough to town for it to be a short drive to the market and also close to the beaches. We traveled with another couple and the home was plenty big enough for us all to be comfortable. When at the house we spent most of our time either sitting on the covered decks or out by the pool. We look forward to our next visit!

Returning Guests

This was our 8th trip to St John and our 5th time renting from Mike. Bordo Mare is SO fantastic that we will never stay anywhere other than here. (Unless Mike builds another equally amazing villa!) Mike is extremely responsive and will return emails and phone calls the same day. He has a wonderful and reliable staff, in St John, that will assist you if anything is needed. The minute that you walk into the villa, you will be in awe of the amazing views from every room. The villa has everything that you could possibly need and more! It is extremely clean, with a modern kitchen, great furniture and décor, comfortable KING beds, very spacious indoors and outdoors, perfect location to reach town and the beaches. The surrounding properties are also very nice, so you have nice views while taking walks or runs. The list could go on and on! My family, which includes my husband and two teenagers (13 and 16), would "play" at the beaches or scuba dive in the mornings. We would return to the villa, in the afternoons, where we could either enjoy more of the beautiful scenery while floating in the pool or lounging on the shaded decks. The only time that the tv was turned on was to watch some NCAA March Madness basketball games. There is so much to do and enjoy that my kids would never be bored and need tv or electronics. It is a great place to reconnect as a family. The only negative is that once you arrive, you realize that you never want to leave this glorious place. We will be returning! Thank you for everything!

Bordo Mare

What a wonderful home! We thoroughly enjoyed Bordo Mare and will gladly stay again. All of the "personal touch" items are incredible. Mully, is wonderful and very easy to deal with. The home offers incredible views, is very comfortable, and top of the line. We enjoyed just hanging out by the pool and cooking meals with friends in the kitchen. It was so easy to relax, listen to music, and have fun. This home had it all! We will definitely be here again. St. John is our favorite place in the world and now Bordo Mare is our favorite place to be when we are there😊

Incredible Views!

My family and I had an unforgettable experience in St. John thanks to Bordo Mare! The views from any part of the house were incredible, and the house was very clean and well-maintained. The space fit our family of four perfectly! We enjoyed hanging out by the pool during the day and relaxing on the couches on the patio at night, watching the sunset and then the stars. I rental process was easy, and everyone who helps maintain the property was wonderful. We look forward to renting Bordo Mare again!

Relaxing family vacation

We rented Mike's place for a week with our 2 boys. The house was great, we loved hanging out in the patio in the morning and evenings and indulged in the pool after a long day hiking and hanging out at the beach. The house is close enough by to beaches and Cruz bay and still you are able to escape from it all. We would definitely rent from Mike again and look forward to our next visit to St. John
