Don't Believe the Positive Reviews

I made the mistake of reading reviews after booking. After reading through them I did see a few generic positive reviews and truly hoped for the best. I contacted Charlene (owner) just to introduce myself and to make sure any issues in previous reviews had been cleared up. She assured me they had. In the description it said, "Ask us about our "virus buster" and get 3 extra people to stay for free." So I asked Charlene about it over the phone and her response was, "Um, I don't know what that is. We just clean like normal." Arrival: It was a little inconvenient to have to contact the owner (hours after check-in) in order to get access instructions, but she responded quickly. The home definitely had a musty/moldy smell (I would invest in some plug-in air fresheners). It was obvious the home had not been cleaned properly: debris on carpet in all bedrooms, roach in the master bathroom we had to kill, master toilet seat was covered in something black, dust on nightstands and other furniture, shower had mold and soap scum on glass, trash - such as qtips and other debris on the bathroom floor. So within 5 minutes of our arrival, we had to clean. I did take photos of all of this. Air conditioning BARELY worked on the left side of the house, where the master bedroom is. You could hardly feel the air coming out of the vents. I'm sure they are aware of this as the thermostat was the only one that was not locked. The rest only allowed for the air to go as low as 74F. Master room was hotter than outside so we moved the mattress to the great room. For this size home 3 units is not enough for this size of home. Pool was okay but not as clean as we would have liked, but it smelled like chlorine so at least it was somewhat sanitary. Overall the home does have potential, but it is NOT CLEAN. Outside property could use some TLC. They charge a cleaning fee, which doesn't seem to be necessary. In my opinion this property was not worth the price. She did message me asking about our stay and I told her the above mentioned. She did not apologize, but did say she couldn't see what we could've cleaned even after I sent her pictures. I did explain to her it was not our job to clean. We would not stay again. Side note: I saw another review mention the owner partially refunding them if they left a positive review. I'm starting to think that is why any positive reviews exist at all.

Lovely stay

All in all I would definitely come back to this property. Very spacious , beautiful neighborhood, it does need a little cleaning up in the yard . Pool area gets a ton of leaves . But the house itself is worth the stay

Beautiful property and well maintained

We loved the house and really enjoyed our time there! ❤️ The pool was clean and tennis court in good shape. The kitchen was a dream and the great room was amazingly spacious. All the beds were comfortable and plenty of hot water for showers. The property owner was responsive and helpful. The location was little bit of a drive from downtown Tampa, but easy to get over to Clearwater Beach. I definitely recommend this place as a quality VRBO rental. Thanks.

Living the Great Life

Super cool property, the house is wonderful, the pool was dynamite and refreshing, the temperature of the water was perfect, kitchen's got everything someone could ask for, space like you can't believe, we slept like babies and woke up in the morning feeling like millionaires, we are right near the beach for when we want to go, it's huge, more space than you know what to do with, the great room was a whole another house, I want this property, it's got great privacy in a very quiet area, we loved the tennis court and the night lights, the gazebo was a real relaxing place at night, we felt like we were in another world, thank you we will be back!

WARNING WARNING WARNING DON'T WASTE TIME OR MONEY!!!!

We reserved for a multi-generational vacation but we were in for a MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT!!! Sunday check-in and still had landscapers working among a mess on driveway making it difficult to unload. Had to request the debris on driveway cleaned off. Once inside the MOLD issue is HUGE in the great room/sleeping loft area even growing on the ceiling. Family members had to stay elsewhere due to highly allergic at an unexpected expense. Owners had assured me there was NOT a mold issue when I inquired per other reviews. WHAT A LIE. Great room had exposed outlets-highly dangerous. AC in MB/kitchen/dining area was broken and not fixed until Monday. Had to buy fans in order to sleep due to the heat. 2 burners on stovetop weren't working although assured it was fixed prior to arriving, bathroom sinks backed up and so did 1 of the showers. Disgusting. 2 bed frames were broken and dangerous, dining room chairs were extremely wobbly and unsafe to use, swimming pool area was filthy, screening torn in many places and covered with debris that fell into pool area, tennis court was covered with debris and no equipment. Has 2 gas grills but only 1 was usable but gas ran out while cooking our dinner, ants inside and bees and wasps nest by outside entrances. Repairmen were there 5 days out of the week and with so many strangers it was very worrisome about our belongings and children. No privacy. Playground is non existent since full of construction and landscaping debris...highly dangerous and unfit for children. Overall this was a waste of our money and is falsely advertised. The owners offered me money if I didn't write a review but what an insult. We have pictures of the current condition of this property. I wrote the owners with our complaints but haven't gotten a response so I am posting the review. I contacted VRBO also to let them know the property is being advertised falsely but it is up to travelers to verify...hard to do when you are so far away. I have used VRBO for over 10 yrs but will look elsewhere now due to their lack of response in removing this falsely advertised property. We were so disappointed and disgusted. Please don't waste your time or money....

Great experience

We went to Clearwater for my destination wedding and we found this beautiful home that would fit my family and friends could visit us to spend the day , everyone was amazed with this property. I would definitely rent this property again.

Please Read Before Renting!

We rented this home for 3 days to host family and close friends for our wedding celebrations.. overall we had a nice time but there are definitely a few things that could have been better! Our check in process was horrible.. we traveled and hour and half from where we live and arrived at 3:35pm .. when we’d arrived I tried calling Keith and Charlene countless times with no answer. At about 4:15pm and being on hold with VRBO customer service Charlene has finally answered and provided us with the front door access code. Upon entering the house it was beautiful but it had this weird musty mildew smell through out it, but it was pretty easily covered with room spray. Cooking for a large group of people in this home was a disaster!!!! Only two out of 5 burners on the stove work and they are super small so it wouldn’t even heat a large out of water to boil pasta. I contacted the owner and she offered to bring over a hot plate but never did. Also, there’s like no kitchen cookware! A few random pots and one tiny egg frying pan! Not even a baking sheet but we improvised with foil! The barbecue grills were a HUGE lifesaver. Also, only one large trash can??? The house definitely does NOT have 5 bedrooms!!!! One of the “bedrooms” is a large walk in closet with bunk beds shoved in the back of it. The 4 main rooms were relatively nice and there were plenty of blankets. The loft area has a really shady attic entrance staircase that completely blocks the entrance of the “great room” when it’s down. As far as the pool goes it was nice and a decent size but the day we arrived it was green, the second day a pool guy came without notice and made everyone get out of the pool to add chemicals, and the rest of the time the chlorine was so strong it was almost unbearable to swim in! The day of our wedding yet again without notice an entire crew of landscapers arrived filling up parking spaces and wondering around the house at all the windows while my bridesmaids and I are getting ready! In the master bedroom there’s basically no privacy bc the curtains hardly cover the sliding glass door and no curtains on any windows! When we arrived back at the house AFTER the ceremony.. they were still there...... like I said over all we enjoyed our stay but this house could be so much better if properly attended to!

Family Vacation

This property is located in a quiet neighborhood but close to the beach and shopping. Enjoyed the pool and tennis court. House is big enough to not feel as if you are on top of each other.

This house was close to the wedding venue but it was not "PARADISE".

We were in this house from May 29 to June 2, 2019, for the wedding of our son. We were determined not to allow any negativity during this family joyous period, so we overlooked everything for the time being. The house is big & well located but it is neglected. It has safety & sanitary issues and it is poorly decorated. The entrance is dark with overgrown bushes. The house smells like mold. We couldn't adjust the thermostat. The towels appeared clean but not the sheets. The living room in the back is spacious but we could not fully use it because the smell made it feel dirty. The pad on the futon was bigger than the futon itself making it unstable. The cushions were dusty and musty. Only one ceiling fan was functional. None of the windows in that room were covered. It lacked privacy. There were only 2 small TVs in this entire large house. The one in the back room had no cable so my son could not use it. The other one in the master bedroom worked. None of the living room area had a large TV as shown on the pictures. The toilet between the two side bedrooms was clogged. My son had to plunge it minutes after our arrival so everybody could release themselves. The blind in one of the side bedrooms fell on my friend's head while she was opening it. It was obviously broken prior to our arrival and not addressed. The Washer-dryer was so loud, initially, we had concerns using them. The garage is overpack and confusing. The kitchen was well equipped but the microwave and the stovetop were not properly working. The displays did not work. There was a missing cabinet door. The dishwasher was leaking. In the master bedroom, a chest mirror was carelessly sitting on the floor. There was a dirty baby playpen in the room. There was garbage behind the cabinet. The pool was cleaned but the covered screen was full of mold, and debris. The pool screened doors and one of the patio doors could not lock making it feel unsafe. We had to put chairs to keep the door somehow unopenable. We had people coming from the US & Canada. It was embarrassing. We have rented multiple vacation houses before. This was the first time we were so unhappy. This “mansion” had too many issues to be able to report it all. Afterward, I emailed Charlene my discontentment. Up to now, she did not answer my email. Mold,debris in pool, and poor maintenance.

This was a beautiful house which suffered from poor maintenance. There was a leak under the kitchen sink that gave this area a moldy smell. Water from the kitchen sink backed up into the dishwasher; the garbage compactor needed to be repaired along with the dish washer. However the leak was fixed. But, it still smells like mold, perhaps the cabinets need to be replaced and the walls behind them need to be checked. The dryer needs to be repaired or replaced because it makes a loud noise when in use. The large back family room/living room with the wet bar, fireplace, and loft smelled like mold. When we first arrived it also smelled like urine but they sent the maid to clean the coach / soft surfaces. The urine smell seemed to go away. But we had to wipe down everything again ourselves to get rid of the mold smell but did not succeed. The shower drain backed up as well but was fixed once it was reported. The Range Hood needs a filter, wires were hanging down and one of the burners on the stove did not work. In the pool area debris from the surrounding trees fell through the screens making the pool unusable. It was so bad that we could not even sit in the chairs because the cushions were full of mold and water. However, once reported Charlene, the property manager, replaced them with new ones. Note this is a temporary fix because the trees surrounding the pool and house need to be removed. We believe this will help to eliminate the mold issue. The television in the room by the bathroom with the door to the pool did not work. A sprinkler head in the driveway blew off around 3:00 am flooding the area. We tried to find an emergency number that night on the sheet that was provided for the guests but could not reach anyone at that time. We tried Keith but his voice mail was full and then we called and left a message for the property manager Charlene. However we did not hear back from her until much later that morning around 9:00 a.m. Please note that we did request at least two to three times for the property to be thoroughly cleaned before our arrival for our daughter’s wedding. On the surface it seemed to be clean but the home has a mold issue which you can smell right when you walk into the house. This was quite embarrassing for us as we had wedding guests flying in from around the country. Note: Charlene did respond to our concerns quickly but I feel that the home needed far more attention than she could provide.

Great Place for Groups

The place was awesome. Centrally located between the beach and downtown St Pete. I was a little worried about the previous reviews but there is nothing to worry about, the place was immaculate. Plenty of sleeping space for our group of 7. There are actually 9 beds plus tons of common area couches for sleeping. The pool was a little chilly for early march but that is to be expected with the weather. The tennis courts and nets were in great shape. The large lot made us feel like we were separated enough from the neighbors. There still was a trouble with one of the burners but we ended up grilling on 2 grills that owner has provided for use. There are 3 fridges for use. We will absolutely stay here again, fantastic. Uber ride to downtown Clearwater was about $25.00 Very close to the BlueJay stadium for Spring Training. This place is great, cant say enough. Thank you Keith for letting us stay and for a great property!

Great size for big groups

The home was nice and clean. The owners replaced the dishwasher while we were there after we told them it didn’t work. The pool and tennis courts were clean and ready to use. We had a great visit.

Nice and spacious

Overall we enjoyed this villa. There were a few issues that need to be fixed to give it a 5. Some things I was prepared for because of previous reviews. The microwave display not working correctly, most of the stove burners not working, the large trash can was missing except the one for recycling. I've stayed at a bunch of Home Away properties and I'm really not so picky. Our biggest issue was we went and bought choose to $200 worth of food to grill out and ended up having to improvise and cook it all inside which was a hassle was only 2 burners. One grill would not get that hot and the other was missing the tray and almost caused a major fire when fire/grease started dripping near the propane tank. Placed a call and although the landscaper guy did come.. His solution wouldn't work and he left to go to Home Depot supposedly but we never heard back at all. So no resolution after about an hour.. And a starving group of 8 meant doing what we could to salvage all our food. Also was disappointed in the 5th "bedroom" that was a super small room with bunk beds that wouldn't work for our needs. We made it work and all on all we did enjoy our stay.

Recent Stay at Clearwater, FL Home

I booked this property without giving full weight to the previous reviews left. I will begin with the positives about this home: 1. The home is located in a nice/quiet community 2. The home is large and very open Here are the negatives about the home: 1. There are technically only four bedrooms in this large home. There is a master bedroom with a king bed and three other rooms that contain queen sized beds. The linen on the beds did not smell fresh which led my guests and I to go out and purchase linen to sleep on. 2. The sink in the master bedroom was clogged. Also, the tub drain in the Jack-and-Jill bathroom was clogged. My guest had to unclog the tub before use. 3. There are only two televisions in the home. One is located in the master room and one in the living room area 4. The kitchen is open and spacious; however, the stove-top has only two burners that work. The oven display does not work and the microwave display is also broken. These issues were problematic for our stay. 5. There was a closed in pool at the home; however, you could tell that the pool area had not be maintained. There were spider webs, dirt and debris all over the chairs and tables. The grill was filthy and not fit for use. 6. There was trash left in the garage which smelled horrible!! 7. The owner had landscapers come to the home during our stay to complete work. Subsequently, the owner himself showed up to the home. This was very awkward. The owner then stayed around for an additional 10-15 minutes outside in his car. Overall, I would not stay here again. While the home was spacious, it was not a pleasant stay. This home needs to be thoroughly cleaned before being available to rent to guests. If you're merely looing for a quiet home to convene and keep your things, then sure, this home will work. But, if you're looking for a nice clean home to hang out with friends this is not the place. I advise any future renters to take the prior reviews into consideration before booking this home. Lastly, this home is 30 minutes from the Tampa Int'l Airport; 55 minutes from the Tampa Outlets, and 50 minutes from Hard Rock Café- Casino.

Spacious and great neighborhood

We loved our stay and Keith was very helpful and accommodating throughout our stay! Our friends and family enjoyed the places. Huge great hall was my favorite area. Will definitely rent this amazing place again!

Very clean but not well maintained.

While the house was very clean, it was not adequately equipped for the number of people it sleeps. There was only one cookie sheet in a house that sleeps 18. The was a lack of cooking utensils and only 6 coffee mugs in the House. The vent hood was not functioning properly, there were only select burners working in the stove, the warming drawer did not work. There was only one working TV in the house. While there were adequate sheets, there were not enough blankets. The pool was missing the drain cover and the outdoor cushions were missing covers. While the house was spacious and clean, there were enough little things not working that it made the stay just “annoying”. The trash had not been removed prior to our stay so we had to pile trash bags in the garage. If you are looking for a great value for the space, this is the place, just be prepared for not everything being in proper working order.

Very nice house

We had a nice stay at this house, it was huge and even with 5 of us, we didn't utilize the whole thing. The owners are nice and attentative, but I took off a star for things in the house that were broken, like the electric garage door (they wouldn't give us a remote unless we paid a deposit, but the thing didn't work anyway). A few kitchen things, like the microwave display, a burner on the stove, dishwasher, and the food warmer (all of these were brought to the owner's attention so hopefully they're fixed). The pool was ice cold, and the master suite/bedroom was too hot. There was no privacy due to glass doors and mirrors in the master suite bathroom. The rest of the house was fine. Beautiful and clean. The neighborhood was gorgeous, and it was close to stores, restaurants, etc. I would stay here again if the issues get fixed.

Awesome home lots of space very private

I really enjoyed this home. Tons of space for the whole family. Grilled out by the pool most nights, kitchen is great. Tennis court was fun to have, kids really liked it. Shower in the master is the best, super strong. Huge Master bedroom. This is a great property not perfect but nothing is. My daughter cried because we had to leave . I would definitely stay again.

Family visit

We had a great time reuniting and seeing family and friends from the Air Force. The only thing that surprised me was the owner/property manager showing up unexpected Sat night and Sun morning to check on the pool. Outside of that the house was very spacious and we all had a great time.

Gorgeous home! Lots of room for gathering.

The property has definitely been recently updated.. everything I saw people complaining about in the reviews has been fixed or updated. The host and the property manager are absolutely wonderful and cared to all of our needs. This is definitely one of clear waters hidden gems!

Nice house, poorly maintained

The house is beautiful in a great neighborhood a day great area. It was well staffed with glassware, silverware, toiletries, etc. Owners were very nice and responsive answering get questions and requests within minutes. Unfortunately the house is not well maintained. The entire house smells humid (not recommended for anyone sensitive to humid environments) and there's a combination of old and humid. Not pleasant. Lots of things were not in working order: one of the sinks in the master wouldn't drain, toilette paper holders had fallen off the wall, light switches were dirty or broken, pool had lots of leaves and was too cold. Washer and drier were dirty. Unfortunately I can't say we enjoyed our stay.
