This is our second time staying and Venture Out on Cudjoe Key and we chose it because the property is conveniently located and close to everything we wanted to do in the Lower Keys. The Venture Out pool is very nice, and the on-site store carries just about anything you might need. We enjoyed using the bocce ball court, pool, and hot tub during our stay. The size of the house (#511) worked well for two couples, though the bathrooms are quite small. One bedroom has a king bed, which leaves very little additional space. The beds themselves were comfortable, but the pillows were not. At first glance, the home appeared clean, but it became clear that it needed a deeper cleaning. The air vents were very dirty, and the light fixtures were dusty, and the heat/air vents are all rusted. One bed did not seem clean, so we washed the sheets before using it. We also found an empty soda bottle under one bed, and an old moldy pair of flip flops, garbage, and dust bunnies under a bathroom cabinet. The porch railing is loose and missing bolts. The countertop ice maker and the grill were not working when we arrived, but the owner replaced both the next day after we reached out. The heat in the home did not work, which we needed one night. We appreciated the owner’s quick responses when we reached out. We paid more than last year for the same type of unit, but last year’s rental was cleaner and more welcoming. This one needs a deep cleaning & remodeling projects completed.
