Hempstead House Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Just a lovely stay in a wonderful relaxing place. Staff were helpful, friendly and efficient beyond expectations. Our room was beautifully appointed. I'd recommend booking a ground-floor room if possible; there is no elevator and the staircases are narrow and twisty, not to the point of being dangerous or anything, but for a couple in our 70s, we needed some help getting our luggage up and down stairs. The included breakfast is several steps above the waffle-machine-and-day-old-eggs offered so often in hotels of this caliber - many choices and fresh-cooked items served in an elegant setting. The dinner menu in the restaurant is limited to five or six choices but everything we ordered was well-prepared and nicely presented. The grounds are strollable and well kept. Don't plan on a lot of night life or excitement in Sittingbourne; Canterbury is a 25 minute drive away, though, and well worth the time. I recommend Hempstead House to anyone looking for a peaceful stay in a beautiful setting with first-rate service."

"Staff very helpful and friendly. Suite Room was spacious and comfortable, though slightly dated for the price. Room lacked bathroom flannels and slippers (though robes were provided). Breakfast was good but our poached eggs were over cooked both mornings. Monty at the bar was great and made a mean Negroni. Lawrence behind the desk was amazing and her customer service skills top notch! We would recommend this hotel to anyone."
