Great stay at crab tree

Had a great stay at Crabtree with family staying in other properties nearby. Everything we needed was in the cottage- and great to be just a few yards from the swimming pool.

Beautiful cottage

We had a lovely 4 night stay in Crabtree cottage. Was perfect for 2 couples, large lounge with lovely log fire. 2 really good size bedrooms, double with en-suite. kitchen has everything you could need. Used the pool twice which was great. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wonderful wedding at Silverholme Manor.

Nice Property in lovely location

Originally booked another property with Graythwaite but due to heavy snow before arrival we were offered this property as an alternative. We received good communication from the company about this and the road conditions leading up to our departure from home. The property was well equipped and very comfortable with good mattresses on the beds, however definitely needed the log burner and portable heater provided to stay warm. Made full use of the swimming pool which was especially appreciated as road access locally was limited due to the recent snow. Lovely walks on the estate including access to WIndermere Lake shore. One small maintenance issue of no hot water to a tap was quickly resolved by the company. The on site farm shop was closed during our stay.

Could be amazing...

The location and facilities are great, beautiful and spacious cottage. However evidence of damp and mould in bedrooms and bathroom meant we all struggled with breathing. Overall cleanliness wasn't great, under bed needed cleaning and windows were dirty. It's a shame as this has the potential to be great but was overshadowed by the mould. The smell was evident when entering property. There was no-one on site to speak to. Ended up leaving a day early as while family's breathing was impacted.

Beautiful cottage for either a peaceful or active break

The cottage is located in the courtyard close to the amenities - shop, games room and swimming pool etc. The booking process was straightforward and Claire was really helpful in dealing with the questions we had in advance of our stay. We extended our stay and Claire was very accommodating. We stayed over Christmas and New Year. The cottage was lovely and warm when we arrived and the storage heaters kept it that way throughout our stay. The log burner in the lounge made for very cosy evenings. We arrived to a beautiful Christmas tree in the sitting room. The kitchen was well stocked with crockery & cutlery and the cottage had every amenity. It had everything you could need. The location is great for either a peaceful break or for a more active holiday. Thank you to the Graythwaite team - we had a great Christmas and New Year. We’ll be back!

8/10 Good

A warm and cosy base

The cottage was a good size, with a comfortable and spacious lounge. We particularly appreciated the log burner due to the wet weather. The kitchen was reasonably large and had everything you needed although the cutlery could probably do with updating/replacing. We felt the property was looking a little bit 'tired' in some places - eg the paintwork in the bathrooms - and the towel rail in the ensuite was rusty and didn't work. The property was lovely and quiet (we were there in the off season and the apartment above us and the one next door were empty so we cannot comment if noise transmission would be an issue or not.) I would recommend taking cards, games, walking guides, maps, dvds etc as these are not provided in the central Games Room, as is sometimes the case in other rental properties where we have stayed. The properties are set in beautiful countryside and the autumn colours were spectacular. The swimming pool is small but a very welcome addition - must be booked in advance!

October break

This was our second visit to Graythwaite for the October holidays. Different cottage but same comfortable and high standards. Slightly disappointed by a mix up in booking the pool and by the hot water boiler breaking down but both were responded to promptly. We also had a group of very noisy young couples staying across from us who were outside till well after mid-night on a couple of nights but I guess these things happen and we didn’t report it. Hopefully we will be back again.
