"Our week in Viksdalen was unforgettable. The location is absolutely stunning—quiet, peaceful, and surrounded by natural beauty. The house was perfect for our two families, offering plenty of space and comfort. Everything was spotless, and the sound of the nearby waterfall added such a special charm. Torunn and Lars Egil were wonderful hosts—very welcoming and helpful. We especially loved relaxing in the hot tub each evening, taking in the majestic views. The home was also conveniently located for day trips, allowing us to explore many amazing parts of the Norwegian fjords. This was the perfect place to experience the best of Norway, and we would love to return."

"Five stars is not enough for the stone cabin in Ortnevik! The one bedroom cabin is so charming. The kitchen has everything you will need to prepare meals and the bed is comfortable. The property is incredibly beautiful and there are interesting hikes right from the cabin. Just a quick walk away you’ll find an amazing wood sculpture garden that will blow your mind. Eldar was very helpful with check in and with advice on where to hike and walk. The small store in town has limited hours but a surprising amount of supplies for a small place. But if you have the option it is likely best to grocery shop in a larger town before arrival. At the cabin I felt I could be away from it all and see the real Norway. "We had a great visit at this property. Nice and clean. VERY Comfy beds and nice duvets to keep you warm on the cold nights. Breakfast was excellent - Healthy options such as Muesli & other hearty cereals (kiddy options as well), Hard B. Eggs, cold cuts and cheese options (never had brown cheese before, but I am a fan), fresh whole grain bread from the local Bakery (Naustdal Dampbakeri) in town (seeded and unseeded), several types of Wasa Crisps, cured Salmon. This is SO much better than the cr@* that I receive in the USA. Only detractor is a slight mustiness in the lower floor, but that comes with the age of these northern climate establishments. Rooms were adequate for our two small carry-on's, if you bring more you will be hard-pressed to find a place to walk. I would not hesitate to return for another stay. "

"This is a lovely spot.  The cabin is set into the side of a ridge with forest at the back.  The front wall of windows and deck look out about a kilometer, over fields and the village, to the Sognefjord.  During our stay with our teenaged granddaughter in early June, the wildflowers were everywhere, and the forest was  a misty J.R.R. Tolkien landscape of thick moss, crags, rocks, crevices and rivulets.  Great hiking out the door in every direction, and, even on a drizzly day, the anticipation of a cozy return.  The heated floors are delightful.  Much thought went into the cabin's layout, with touches including carvings, a gnarly stump supporting the kitchen counter, and stairs to the loft hewn out of a single log.Ortnevik is off the beaten path, at the end of a narrow road from Bjordal to the west.  That is an appealing reason to visit this part of Hoyanger.  But, the visitor should realize that ferries are more limited on the weekend, the small local store is often closed, and no nearby cafes.  So, a good idea to pick up supplies on the way and double check the ferry schedule.   Our time here was the highlight of our trip to Norway."
