I would give this Hotel 5 stars as we took our dog

The room was small but for one night it was very nice and clean, plus we took our little dogs so very 😁

Had our wedding reception here staff were excellent even running my wife to the registry office when the taxi failed to show up we and our guests were very well looked after loved the breakfast too

Decent hotel if a bit overpriced

We were slightly cautious about staying here after reading alot of the recent reviews but we can definitely say we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is nice and clean, the staff were excellent and helpful and the room was large with a comfortable bed, we have no complaints other than maybe the cost. It is rather expensive considering it's a bit dated, but other than that, we couldn't see why there had been so many pad reviews.

Good apart from the condition of the rooms.

After driving all day to get here the first room i was given the TV didnt work so was moved to a different room of which the bed was broken and the mattress was so old and work it was like laying on a rug. Thw 3rd room was okay however was run down im areas and still had a broken bed. The staff are friendly and happy to help and the food was okay too.

Wedding stay

My Friend and I stayed at the Fir Grove Hotel for a friends wedding. The check in was fast and efficient. Our room was dated and needed decorating. The carpet had various stains on it and it needed a dust. The room overlooked the rear of the property. Our view consisted of an extraction system and a dirty nappy which had obviously been thrown out of the window.

Main corridor areas old tired decor. Initially we’re not allocated our booked room upgrades and had to stand our ground with receptionist. 2nd day our rooms not cleaned. Breakfast good and room upgrade a must as standard rooms are tired and basic. Ok for a 3 star - however we chose it only because it was near to our family for visiting.

Friendly staff but not a pleasant stay

The staff were nice and delivered my food to my room despite there being no room service. However this was due to the phone not working. Room not very clean, lots of dust on bathroom fan, bed head board smelt musty, stains and specks of things on bedsheets and towels. Long wait to be served when checking in.

Staff rushed off feet due to wedding Nobody to check us in. When they did,btwin room we had paid upgrade for in advance, wasn't even ready, made it sound as if it was our fault!

It is ok, but definitely overpriced for ok!!

It was ok, with some good and not so good parts. Cleanliness is fine and to a reasonable standard, a few corners of rooms and skirting could do with some attention. Parking is free and we had no problem getting a space. We had issue with curtains not closing which was fixed quickly, I'd say within 10mins of reporting it. Ate at the restaurant once, husband's meal, a burger and chips was good, my pizza didn't arrive until he was nearly finished his meal, and that was after I told him to start eating before his meal got cold, after the long wait I was surprised to be given a Chicago town frozen pizza with cherry tomatoes added and charged £13.95 for it!! The worse part of the stay was the heating was on upstairs, it was the hottest day of year so far (30 degrees) which made sleeping near impossible. When we asked staff about it the following day we were told the hotel have to have the heating on for the hot water otherwise there wouldn't be any, thank goodness the temperature dropped the following day for our second night. Staff are all helpful and friendly.

No frills disappointing hotel

The hotel is tired looking. I arrived at 9pm on a Friday night, I was told the restaurant closed at 9pm despite the website saying there was room service, I was advised there wasn’t. The room was the smallest room I have stayed in ever. The website I had seen said rooms had baths, it was just a shower. The room was clean but tiny. The bed was so uncomfortable. The check in is a bit confusing as it’s also a bar. Which was unfortunate as there was a wedding on when I needed to speak to the reception and people were also understandably getting drinks. My room key randomly stopped working and I had to go down to the bar/checkin desk multiple times to get it fixed. The girls behind the bar/desk were polite and friendly. There was a man who I assume was some kind of manager who was quite rude when talking to staff and disinterested when talking to customers. I checked out early I didn’t fancy a second night here. It’s very much a tired hotel with no frills at all. If you simply want a bed and you’re not fussy about anything else you’d be fine. Personally I wouldn’t stay here again but it was clean.

Check in was a nightmare they couldn’t locate our booking so we had to wait to get checked in. Booked a suite so when finally checked in we were given a standard room. Not a great start. A four poster bed in a room is not a suite this room is small and compact - but the bathroom is a good size but still not a suite. Hotel not allowed to book taxis !! Find that odd as well as you can’t charge to your room. !!! Breakfast - well what can I say - unreal. Chaffing dishes allowed to run to zero food no bread for toast - clearly short staffed but a ridiculous service without an apology Basil fawlty is Rocco forte compared to this. Nice refurbishment but service to match is non existent.
