This home could be a really nice rental; the location was beautiful, and it was just far enough out of town for us - we love the open spaces in the yard. Unfortunately, our stay went downhill pretty quickly.
The private drive & entrance to the home is extremely dark; there are motion lights on the corner of the house that would light your entry easily but not working. I fell on the stone steps because it's so dark even my cell phone had difficulty lighting up the walk. I have other complaints I'll get to, but this safety issue, and Vacasa's subsequent inaction to my requests is really what made our stay here horrible.
We contacted Vacasa via their toll-free number within 24hours of checkin with a list of issues (incl the lighting) with our priority being the fireplace - one of the major reasons we chose to stay here. There were no instructions to get the fireplace working. Additionally, we were tracking in a lot of dirt and dead leaves because the house didn't have a door mat at the back door, bathroom door wouldn't stay closed, and the sink was very slow to drain. Over the first 48 hours, I placed 5 calls to Vacasa's helpline, each one promising a call back, and a house visit "that day." I eventually reached a supervisor (Tiffany) based in Georgia (the rental is in NC) who while extremely nice really couldn't resolve anything other than to pass another message on the the "local" contact and/or GM.
On the 4th day of our stay, I received a call from a local contact who's excuse for not getting back to me sooner was that she didn't have a maintenance worker on Mon or Tues. I understand you can't be 100% staffed 100% of the time, a promised call back, instead of being ignored, would go a long way.
While someone did come out on the 4th day & installed some small solar lamps along the walkway, left a mat at the door, & fixed the slow drain (we had already fixed the door since you can't have a hallway bathroom door open at just any time), we never had a working fireplace (they blamed it on a gas supply issue).
In addition, the washer & dryer both need servicing, the house was extremely dusty/dirty under beds & furniture (we found a dog bone), hall-bath toilet was filthy w/crud, food crumbs were left in cabinets & bread box, coffee pot had old coffee in it, dishes in the cabinets were dirty with food debris, tile floors in both baths had black grout due to dirt, back porch had mildew causing slips when damp, lighting in & outside the house were filled with cobwebs & bugs, and the downstairs porch was filled with trash & broken furn.
Additionally, there has been a leak in the roof that has caused damages to the kitchen; there is a hole in the ceiling, and you can see mold in & around the area where the paint is peeling, as well as around the window that is beneath the damages.
This poor home needs some loving care that it isn't getting from Vacasa. From this experience, we will NEVER stay in a Vacasa owned or managed home again.
