Tranquil Bassenthwaite Lake, 10 miles away, is a nature reserve, perfect for wildlife enthusiasts and overlooked by the magnificent peak of Skiddaw. Alternatively, visit historic Carlisle, 14 miles away, famous for its 900-year-old castle, beautiful cathedral, and plenty of galleries, shops, and eateries.

Further down on the left is the contemporary kitchen with all the appliances you need to cook up a storm. There is also a spacious boot room, ideal for muddy boots and for giving dogs their own space. At the end of the corridor, stairs lead up to the two elegant bedrooms, both with characterful exposed wooden ceiling beams and a TV. The first is a double bedroom featuring an en-suite shower room, and the second is a twin zip and link, which can offer flexible sleeping by being made into a super-king-size on request, along with plenty of storage and a delightful ornamental fireplace.
