This is a lovely comfortable cottage, with plenty of room for our party of 4 adults and 2 children and 2 dogs.Our grandson has special needs and often doesn’t sleep, but he slept like a log here, meaning we all overslept . It had everything we needed. We had a few issues with heating and water in the showers but the owners were with us within an hour to sort things out. They were lovely and very welcoming. The pool is a wonderful facility and having it to ourselves for an hour twice a day was brilliant. We had a hot tub in the garden but didn’t use it as there is an additional charge. We used the one in the pool area instead. Not really any walks around the property but plenty within driving distance. The Masons Arms, a short drive away, is very welcoming and the food is great. There are food shops in Aspartia a 10 minute drive and a petrol station. Supermarkets can be found in Cockermouth. We were lucky enough to spend half term here before lockdown. We are a family of 2 adults and 3 children and we had a fabulous time at Halls Bank during a very wet October half term. Having 2 allotted times for the pool every day worked really well and allowed for time to enjoy day trips out. There was plenty to do in the surrounding area in particular a stunning walk through Dodds Wood. The owners are so helpful and friendly we are looking forward to going back again! Booked cottage for 4 days party of 9 but due to covid 19 only 6 were able to go. Cottage in lovely location, plenty of equipment in kitchen. Swimming pool, just across from cottage, used one hour morning and one hour afternoon. then into hot tub which was at the bottom of the garden. Garden fenced in if taking a dog with you. We had a wonderful holiday at hall bank, our house was spacious, well equipped and most importantly comfy beds!! All mod cons are catered for including a large oven and good WiFi. The addition of the swimming pool was well received by the whole family and having our allotted times to swim meant we could enjoy the pool privately. I would highly recommend this property and you will receive a very warm welcome.
