I needed a place near the Saxon sites and Cathedral. And it didn't hurt that the Westgate was just a five minute walk from the rail station. It's an old place, and it had the feel of the ages in the floors and doors. But that was part of the overall experience for me. It had charm. The staff was very accommodating, and I had breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the Westgate. It was all good. And it was across the street from the medieval Westgate to the city as well. I would stay there again if ever get the chance to visit the area again.

Highly recommend

We had a lovely stay at The Westgate, lovely big room, bed was super comfy and it’s in a great location for visiting Winchester and its shops, cathedral and lovely Christmas markets! Breakfast was excellent and staff were always helpful. Wonderful stay.

Excellent central location in Winchester, close to all of the city attractions. Room and bed were super comfortable and the staff are great. It was a perfect base to explore Winchester, and the pub is a great place for an evening drink.

Very convenient city-centre location. Bedrooms, pub & dining space all very tastefully decorated and in good condition, with friendly staff. A shame that breakfast isn't available every day.
