When we arrived, it was about 40 minutes before the usual check in. While we understood we were early, the staff member checking us in gave us the impression she would ask the staff doing room preparation time to finish up and it would just take a few minutes. The staff member allowed us to sit in a quiet area to wait. After a half hour, several smirks, and another guest being permitted to check in without issue, I was feeling frustrated, and asked if the room was ready. The same staff member, with the same smirk, informed me check in is 4pm and it would be seven more minutes. They made it quite clear that this was deliberate.
Once in the room, we noticed an unusual level of noise, but assumed it was a child playing in the hallway. Instead, we found out as we turned the tv off and tried to sleep, it was a small child in the next room, playing with the connecting door. We waited for the noise to settle but it continued to escalate for the next few hours, so we called the front desk. Funnily enough, we were able to be provided another room immediately without question. I believe being placed there in the first place was deliberate, and possibly vindictive, as the clock radio in the room we were moved to began screeching an alarm at midnight. It was not a good sleep.
The staff member who brought us the key for relocation was quite wonderful, and the staff member at breakfast was about the sweetest person ever, thoughtful and warm and helpful.
Very much a mixed bag.
