"Just stayed one night so didn't use amenities or facilities. Room was basic but what we needed for the one night. Spacious family room with plenty of tea and milk provided, however was in an old building so needs an upgrade and a deep clean - lots of cobwebs."

"Liked: Clean Comfy bed Great showers, very hot! Lovely staff Quiet Great location very close to the Durham Cathedral Disliked: Breakfast was average. Over heated pastries and lukewarm cooked breakfast with cold beans on the first morning. Sausages very processed not what I was expecting. Would certainly return but would eat breakfast in town."

"Fantastic staff, helpful, compassionate and understanding. I loved the gym, fitted with Technogym equipment like my local gym here in NI, so was pleasantly surprised when I could use the app away from home. The hotel is about to be refurbished and once done, it will be even nicer to stay here. Great breakfast, lovely surroundings of Eaglescliffe make this place first point of call for my future stays when I come home to visit. Thanks so so much to Joanne for her help during my stay. Look forward to coming back again soon!"

"A very convenient and dog friendly place to stay during our travels. A dog bed, treats, water bowl and poo bags were provided for our dogs, and although there was road noise from our road-facing room, it didn't prevent us from having a good night's sleep. The breakfast hamper in the morning was delicious and allowed us to leave when we liked. The use of the two rear fields to walk the dog was very handy. We also enjoyed our evening meal and appreciated the friendly staff. Would recommend."

"Unfortunately we stayed in room 19 which has a smelly drain problem & room next door was only separated from us by a mattress standing in the adjoining doorway, after reporting the drain problem we were given a different room which was perfect, thanks to the staff for their quick response. We had an evening meal in the restaurant which consisted of a tasty meat pie & chips which were covered in salt!! I like salt myself but these were extremely salty making most of them left on my plate, I was asked if there was a problem with my meal & when told about the Chips I was informed that the chef usually puts the salt on.....why? I presume this was why no condiments were on the table. The breakfast was okay, lots of choice but ours was overcooked & bacon frazzled we guessed this was due to a lack of staff as they were slow to take orders etc because there were only 3 of them & appeared to be rushed off their feet. We would stay there again as its a lovely building & staff pleasant and welcoming."
