Really enjoyed the indoor and outdoor onsen experience, the outdoor onsen being a huge highlight as it was snowing outside at the time. The room was really spacious and very comfortable
Fantastic room! Great amenities. Great nearby restaurants. Staff was friendly, welcoming and kind.

Fabulous location with lovely traditional rooms. Shuttle to and from station and to the Snow Monkey park with ample time to see the monkeys. Shops and restaurants within walking distance.
There was a shuttle expecting us outside Yudanaka station, even though it's just a 6min walk to the hotel, but much appreciated when you're carrying bags. The place is beautiful and the private onsen: AMAZING (indoor and outdoor). Breakfast was a nice varied Buffet and loved the provided yukatas. Would definitely go back!
Super hospitality! Partner & I appreciated the hotel free shuttle provided. Staff anf service standard commendable.👍
Wished we had stayed longer. So hope to come back to stay at this hotel the next time.
The staff was friendly and nice. The van driver gave us rides to and from Snow Monkey Park and to the train station - very helpful! We enjoyed the dinner and breakfast came with the plan. We also enjoyed the inside/outside hot springs. Affordable hotel with excellent customer service!
The shuttle bus driver waiting at the station was very friendly and took care of our bags. Arriving at the hotel, the staff greeted us very warmly and quickly got us into our rooms. The superior room was very beautiful and had a fantastic view of the snowy mountains, and the outdoor onsen with the snow coming down and around it was gorgeous and extremely relaxing. We didnt do the meals, but it smelled so good that next time we're definitely including meals in our stay. In the morning, we took their provided shuttle to the snow monkey park and enjoyed ourselves there before we came back. The whole area was very walkable and we loved every minute being there. Only complaint I have is that there is no conditioner in the men's onsen showers. We fully intend on staying here again!
The staff were all pleasant and friendly. The two girls at reception were helpful and spoke enough English to be understood if not used google translate. The Thai man who looked after breakfast was great.
The onsens were fabulous and the temperatures alternated between them on different days
The room was a good size (one person) a little dated but that was ok
The shuttle to the train station was available any time in the mornings and it was only a 4 minute walk back in the afternoon
Lots of restaurants close by
Breakfast buffet was plentiful with Japanese and western options available
Definitely not a ski in/out hotel as advertised on the websites
Would recommend if looking for off the mountain budget accommodation
This is a great family friendly hotel. We booked a room with a private onsen which was absolutely worth the extra cost. The hotel has a shuttle which will take you to/from the Yudanaka station and the snow monkey park. This was a great place to stay.
Great hotel, really nice and accommodating staff. It's a great way to have a traditional ryokan experience. Great size room, and great location for the small town. Really good value for what you get, we would love to come back.
Taking the price per night into account, the hotel was very good value. The furniture and such are quite dated, but they ae kept neat and clean. The breakfast buffet spread is quite extensive. Mostly Chinese items, given most of their guests, but I enjoyed it. The staff was courteous, though communication is a challenge, which is to be expected in this part of Japan.
Improvement opportunities- I would like for them to run their shuttle to the train station later into the evening.
And second, post a notice on onsen rules in English in the onsen. Not all western tourists are aware of them, as I found out.
Amazing stay. The gentleman at the front desk who spoke great English was lovely, he helped us with everything and was also attentive during our kaiseki dinner, helping explain everything. We had a tatami room, it was nice, the bathroom a little dated, but the onsen was fabulous. The outdoor onsen was beautiful. Loved our stay here and can recommend it to anyone.
Manager and staff were super friendly and helpful. Room was very spacious. Traditional sleeping mat was very comfortable and I probably got my best night's sleep while on this trip. Walls are a little thin, but all guests were quiet and respectful of others. Baths looked great but unfortunately didn't get to use them. With size 15 feet I wouldn't expect any of the hotel slippers to fit. We had excellent meals within a 5 minute walk. Really enjoyed Yamanouchi!
Really fantastic stay. Both for the experience, and easy location to the monkey park (which the staff provided a free shuttle to and from).
Decided to go for half board - breakfast/dinner - and the food was SO good, especially the second night’s dinner. Staff were all wonderful and attentive and the Onsen (indoor and outdoor) was the perfect way to end the day. 10/10 recommend and will stay here again if I’m back in the area.
Wonderful stay in Yudanaka Hotel Housei. Everything from check in to check out was superb. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They drove us to the Snow Monkey park and to the train station. The breakfast buffet was delicious with so many traditional foods. Onsen was relaxing after a cold day walking around. Will be back!
