Parrot Cay

Totally abandoned Mandarin Oriental hotel project. These spots (and there are quite a few) are crazy fun to explore, albeit a bit eery!
Totally abandoned Mandarin Oriental hotel project. These spots (and there are quite a few) are crazy fun to explore, albeit a bit eery!
Yet another #Abandoned life guard tower in Turks & Caicos. This was going to be a Mandarin Oriental hotel, and the developers/owners just walked away.

Relax on the beach, unwind with a spa treatment, spot local wildlife or entertain yourself with an endless list of activities at this private island resort.

Parrot Cay is a private island resort sprawling over 1,000 acres (405 hectares) of land, including a large stretch of beach, a spa and a luxury hotel with 61 rooms. Whether you want to relax with a yoga class or go sailing on a catamaran, explore neighboring islands or snorkel around the coral reef, this resort has something for everybody.

Check in to the resort and choose from a diverse selection of accommodation, including ocean-facing rooms, beach houses and villas. Relax at the resort spa and choose from a range of treatments, such as massages, body wraps and facials. Unwind with a yoga or Pilates class on the beach. Dine at one of the resort’s three restaurants that specialize in fresh seafood and local cuisine. Try seared west Caicos snapper at the Asian-themed restaurant, Lotus, or a jumbo lump crab pizzetta from the Italian-themed restaurant, Terrace. Alternatively, take advantage of the resort’s excellent room service and enjoy a gourmet meal from the comfort of your own bedroom.

Make the most of Parrot Cay’s beautiful beaches. Swim in the clear, blue ocean or sunbathe on the soft, white sand. Rent a private tiki hut, a wooden hut with a thatched roof, and recline in the shade on the beach. If you are feeling energetic, snorkel among the island’s spectacular coral reefs or try windsurfing or sailing lessons. Take a day trip to Iguana Island to spot rock iguanas, an endangered species found only on the Turks and Caicos Islands.

The island was originally known as Pirate Cay because legend has it that infamous female pirate Anne Bonny stayed here in the 18th century. It was renamed Parrot Cay to make it sound more inviting. The island is located on the western side of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Fly to Providenciales International Airport, where resort staff will collect you for the 35-minute boat ride to Parrot Cay.
