“Was not quite what I expected. Located literally in a mountain pass with traffic driving past. The room doesnt have a fridge. It has a cooler but what good is that if you want to pack some items of your own to stay properly cold. You are given a kitchen sink in your room. A microwave would also be a good option. For what you pay to stay, it is not worth it. The restaurant has a limited menu. The location is remote and far from any shops. There is a Spar in Citrusdal, a 10 minute drive away.……

“We loved this place! The ocean view from our room was spectacular. We checked out a few other places in town that are more expensive and the view from the Linhof is the best! Breakfast was excellent. Shirley, the manager who runs this place, merits special mention. She helped us get our bags upstairs, served us our breakfast and always had a smile and a kind word. We will definitely return.”

“Gareth & Grant have a beautiful home & it was a pleasure to stay with them. Everything was top quality...our room, the pool, the outside space. Each day they deliver a fabulous 3 course breakfast, then afternoon tea & cake, & at 6pm canapés & drinks for all, which turns into a lovely social event, throughout with home baked & delicious treats. “Great stay at this amazing place. The manager, Clinton and his wife run a great place, the food was really good, and the staff were friendly and courteous. The views are stunning, and the hiking trails are well maintained, with many hiking options, the afternoon by the pool is a great way to chill after a morning exploring the bush trails, plenty of wildlife around from the mice and hares that share the grounds with you, to the Springbok and the majestic Gemsboks. “Alabaster Box certainly is doing something right! Besides the home being immaculately kept, the service is top notch. Upon entering my room I was met with the most beautiful scent of sandalwood. A small fridge, and kettle were available for my snacks and tea. The shower was absolutely amazing, and much needed after a long car ride! The balcony even had views of the lagoon. There’s a serene koi pond in the back, and pool as well. Most of all, I felt safe as a solo female. May God bless this……
