One of the attractions of our HoriZEN home is the wilderness setting. Living surrounded by nature can put you in close contact with creatures great and small. Everything from bears, deer, snakes outside to lady bugs (no matter how fastidious the cleaning) inside can be encountered. Please make sure all doors and windows are closed and secured when entering or leaving the house and be observant of your surroundings when enjoying this bucolic setting! Do not leave food in your parked vehicle. Lock your car doors because the bears can get into unlocked doors and cause costly damage, which owners are not responsible for. Life in the mountains! Enjoy your stay!

This is our third year in a row staying at this house and we absolutely love it every time! Lisa has thought of everything you would possibly need and has everything you need. The location is perfection and the house is always so clean and well maintained.
We absolutely loved staying here, the views were even better than the photos. The kitchen had everything we needed and was a pleasure to use, the dining room and living room were very comfortable, and the bedrooms were very cozy. I also loved the art within the house, it feels very loved and I'm definitely planning on coming back!
What a gorgeous property! Lisa was a nice host and very responsive the questions. The home was well equipped for our group’s stay, and very clean and comfortable. Our group of 8 friends had a fabulous time, enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, singing in living room with perfect fire pit, and relaxing in the hot tub. Very very beautiful sunrise view from deck too!!
Awesome property & views! We stayed at the HoriZEN house with 8 adults for a 40th bday getaway and had the best time! The house is amazing, spacious, updated, peaceful - close to wineries, hiking and easy drive to Charlottesville! Nothing beats the view from the deck!

UVA Graduation weekend, wonderful retreat with gorgeous mountain views- mesmerizing! The house had every amenity for cooking and entertaining. It was nice not having to deal with hotel rooms and crowded restaurants. Highly recommend!
We've stayed in Charlottesville every year around Thanksgiving to visit my father who is in a nursing home nearby, and this was our favorite house in 10 years!
The views were incredible, the house was gorgeous and our host was so thoughtful about accommodating us and providing us with everything we could need while staying there with my family.
Would highly recommend!
Lisa’s home in Afton, Virginia, truly lives up to its name, the horiZEN house. The stunning views from the house were breathtaking, providing a peaceful retreat for the weekend. The property was impeccably clean, and Lisa’s clear and warm communication made our stay even more enjoyable. We highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a serene and beautiful getaway.
This is our second year staying at this property and love it so much! We will try and stay here every year. The property is clean, extraordinarily equipped, in the perfect location, and beautiful. The owner is quick to respond to questions. I can’t say enough good things about this property!
The property is beautiful and was perfect for a family gathering during Christmas. The views were absolutely stunning and it was the perfect mountain getaway. The host is very friendly and responsive and was available for any minor issues during our stay. The house has plenty of amenities and many fun activities nearby.
We had an amazing time at Horizen House for our 20th wedding anniversary! The views are AMAZING! We loved the owners gorgeous artwork throughout the house. We loved how secluded the house was yet so close to restaurants, breweries, and wineries. The proximity to overlooks and hiking trails was unbeatable! We are so happy we saw this rental property and we hope to be back again!
Located on the mountain viewing the valley and horizon to the east, Lisa's house is truly a beautiful spot and was very comfortable for our family of 8. Thank-you Lisa, you are a Wonderful Host!
This house is amazing! Everything you would ever want has been provided in this property. The views were beautiful! Host was quick to respond to any questions. Will book again.
The location of the property is one of the best in the area. The house has everything you need. We changed plans and never left till check out. Look forward to coming back soon
You should stay here. Lisa was a wonderful host. She was responsive and friendly. The property itself is incredible - words and pictures don’t do it justice! Soak in the beauty around you and enjoy. We went in the winter and 4wd was very much required (as noted).
This is our second stay at HoriZen. Everything about the house and surrounding area gets a 5-star review from us. The house is beautifully appointed and generously stocked. The views are breathtaking. We enjoyed some time at Blue Mountain Brewery, Wild Man Dan's and Veritas. All great! We will return!
Our stay at the Horizon House made our vacation with our two daughters very special! We thoroughly enjoyed the spaciousness of the residence and the exquisite views! Also, the home was located in the middle of many wineries and breweries and also several historic landmarks! Horizon House was definitely worth the trip and we will be returning in the future! As mentioned by others, this place is an oasis—lovely decor, must see views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, cozy and spacious, and close to a ton of year-round activities— skiing, hiking, wineries, breweries, etc. Our family only stayed two nights to ring in the New Year, but hope to be back to stay longer. Hosts thought of everything with this place— from the toiletries, to the comfortable, high-end linens and original artwork. Everything you could ask for! .
This property is amazing. Great view of Afton valley. House is professionally decorated and designed with all top shelf components. The garages were a nice convienence. Loved all the tvs and premium channels. Even the decks were well furnished. A great week here at Horizen. Thanks Lisa.
Had a great stay with a group of friends for a girl’s weekend! Very responsive and friendly host. House was even nicer than photos made it look. Only downside was hot tub was broken (huge bummer as this was the main selling point for our group), but the house owner gave us a discount on the house as a result which was really nice. Gorgeous views from the deck, close proximity to hiking and wineries. Recommend!
Our group of friends stayed here for a ski weekend and had an amazing time! Wintergreen was sold out, but we were able to go to massanutten resort which was about 45 minutes from the house.
Everything about this house was exactly as described - everything was very well stocked and beautifully maintained. I spoke with Lisa multiple times leading up to and during our stay and she always replied quickly and was a great help. The pictures don't do the views justice!! We truly enjoyed our stay and would highly highly recommend!
Our stay at Horizen House was perfection! The house is beautifully appointed and maintained and the outdoor areas (deck, yard, garage and driveway) are tidy. The bathroom, bedding and floors were spotless! And the view, from every window, is breathtaking. Thank you Campbell Family for the thoughtful effort you invest in your home.
Thank you Campbfor the effort!! put into
Lisa's home was incredible. Our family vacations in many VRBOs every year, and this was hands down the best house we have ever stayed in. The photos do not do it justice. We enjoyed the art, cleanliness, and thoughtfulness in the home's design. The master bedroom on the main floor was perfect for my in-laws, who have difficulty with stairs. Downstairs was ideal for the younger members of the family. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to host dinners with family. Every detail had been thought of - from coffee makers on both floors - to toiletries available in every bathroom in case you forget anything. The expansive mountain views are the best part of this stay. We didn't want to leave!
