"We love the simplicity of the cottage. It feels very authentic old Hawaiian.The location is perfect. It’s situated at the end of Hanalei Beach..very quiet and yet easily accessible to the town.The hosts are very helpful and go out of their way to meet our needs."

"On a lovely plot of land next to an idyllic stream that you can watch flowing by sitting on the second floor patio (fully screened in) taking in the sounds of nature this wonderful house will capture your heart and provide lovely shelter for you and your loved ones while visiting Hanalei. Mark is a warm and attentive host who looked after us the entire time and was always ready to support us in having a great time visiting this beautiful place. -Well stocked-Fast Internet-Tastefully Decorated-All windows and doors with screens (except the front door)-Comfortable BedsIf you are looking for an authentic, cared for, comfortable, relaxing, well located, house you would be well served staying here."

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This property is about the vibe. And by that I mean an authentic north shore experience. And that means it won't be for everyone. Kauai is humid, was 94% while we were there and this property was build in 1964 to those standards. So, that humidity is in everything. We were four 50 somethings looking for that authentic vibe so we thought it was great but again, if you are looking for blemish free, air conditioned and hotel standards, this is not your place. If you want to feel like you stepped back in time and connect with the amazing unique north Kauai environment while feeling that ocean breeze and also be just a few minutes to Hae na and Halanei, then couldn''t recommend it more."

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Hanalei Plantation was accurately described in its listing, and the location was hard to beat. It accommodated our family of six adults very comfortably. The property was clean, but felt weathered overall. I would recommend this property, with a few caveats. It felt like a classic beach cottage in many ways. However there were holes in many of the window screens, so mosquitoes were able to enter freely. Nearby Hanalei and the end of the road beaches were all wonderfully accessible from this house. We would happily return to this home (if the screens were repaired)!"

"Quarter mile walk to the beach (eastern side of the main beach). Kitchen was well stocked for cooking and BBQing. We picked up charcoal at the local store to BBQ. Lots of fans to keep the main area and kitchen cool. The ACs in the bedrooms were nice for sleeping. Super fun open layout of the kitchen and living room. Coffee maker was available with filters. Had some frying pan spray, salt, pepper in addition to the cooking and baking items.One of the best aspects was the backyard outdoor shower. So amazing to take a hot shower outside in Hanalei, especially fun when it was raining outside.Check in and out process was easy. Great location for the cost (not on the water but super close, walking distance).Would stay there again in the future!"
Kauai Tree House - Nestled Along a Stream with Tropical Surroundings.

"The treehouse is beautiful, spacious, tidy and extremely well stocked. I was pleased to find beach towels, beach chairs, and a beach umbrella available for use. There was plenty of coffee, towels, toilet paper, detergent, games. and puzzles. As others mentioned, there were some bugs but given the proximity to river and forested area, I am not surprised. We were pleased to welcome 2 cute lizard visitors in the house as well! The location is amazing! You are close to Hanalei, Tunnels, and Ke’e Beach. The only downside really was the noise. The neighboring dogs and road noise are loud. It disrupted our sleep most nights. The property management company suggests that you call the local humane society regarding the dogs, which seems wild to me. I am not sure why they would ask paying customers to call the humane society on a neighbor’s dogs. Disposable ear plugs would be a nice addition to the property. The nightly rates were not bad for the space but once the 360 cleaning fee and over 200 processing fee was added on, the rate seems less fair considering the noise. 10/10 would stay again if were not for noise and cost. For what we paid, I was disappointed to be woken up at 4 am every day."

"Location, layout, amenities of this house are great! One HUGE negative is the lack of a/c in the home. Yes the wall of sliding doors is very nice to have, and we obviously used the ceiling fans but sleeping in 75-78 temps is not “comfortable”. When we texted the Owner, she suggested we sleep with all sliding doors open to help but leaving our kids sleeping with opened doors overnight didn’t feel especially safe. Owner avoided my questions about crime in the area, and suggested no one else has ever complained about lack of a/c. Reading back through reviews, I found that that is not true, and I really wish I had seen that review prior to our trip. We would have found a different place to rent bc for 4500 one expects to be “comfortable” when sleeping. Just my opinion. We ended up driving an hour to purchase box fans for the bedrooms in order to get any rest. The kitchen, living room, large bathrooms, bedrooms, porch, beach chairs and boogie boards were great though. Probably will not go back to this specific home but the island itself is paradise!"
