“We were located on the second floor but the elevator doesn't go all the way up. We had to haul our luggage up the last flight of stairs to our level. The complimentary hot breakfast was great. The lounge area and enormous fireplace were really nice. The bathtub was slippery and there were no grab bars. The outdoor patio was very comfortable in the afternoon sun.”

“Dowds' Country Inn was beautiful and picturesque, and charming in that way that only old buildings can be. The sign was very difficult to read at night, but once we found the place, we loved it. Just beyond the inn parking lot you could see a beautiful herb and vegetable garden. The entryway was beautiful and inviting. “This was our favorite stay for our 7-day New England trip! After a hectic day exploring Vermont towns with thousands of other tourists, it was a breath of fresh air to pull into peaceful Lyme. The inn is well appointed with gorgeous gardens and sitting areas. Comfortable rooms with tasteful decor. Easy parking. The onsite restaurant is wonderful! We didn’t know to make a reservation but they offered to seat us at the bar. We got lucky and a cancellation came through, so we had a leisurely meal……
