Lovely villa with the most exceptional hosts

We absolutely loved our time at Villa Karissa. In fact it felt more like staying at a hotel with the attention and cleanliness provided by the owners. The pool is excellent and the accommodation is superb. Couldn't recommend highly enough!

Fabulous luxurious villa

This is such a special place, Both inside and outside areas are gorgeous, plenty of lovely seating areas and shade. Most comfortable beds ever and that goes for sunbeds too. Lovely touch of delicious Lihnarakia left by owner for us to eat. Walkable into lovely village Thank you for a wonderful stay

Very nice owners, top-class service. The villa is beautifully decorated and very well equipped. Quiet area, close to a few shops and restaurants with local food. And of course the swimming pool!

Couldn’t over recommend this villa it is true quality

The villa is finished to an exceptional standard and there are lots of nice extra touches, like 7 different outside areas to relax or eat. The villa is nicely remote however a10 min walk from a village with small shops and great cafes.

Great Holiday at a fabulous Villa

From the moment we arrived we realised the Villa was even better than the impressive pictures. Finished to a high standard with quality furnishings and fittings, superbly served by the excellent and attentive Freelance team. Spacious accommodation both inside and out. Lovely pool and sun-beds in a beautiful and private setting. Very close to the lovely authentic Greek village of Gavalochori with its two very good restaurants. We had a fabulous holiday and highly recommended.

Amazing villa. Fantastic pool.

We were lucky enough to be the first guests at Villa Karissa. The villa is beautifully styled, well-equipped and very luxurious. We enjoyed the numerous different seating areas - morning coffee on the roof terrace, lunch by the BBQ, sunset cocktails on the terrace again and dinner alongside the pool. There are so many different areas it feels like you have your own boutique hotel. The kitchen is the best equipped we’ve ever come across and the rest of the interior incredibly chic. The local area has some great tavernas and we particularly enjoyed the beach at Kalyves. Highly recommended and I’m sure we will be back. Thank you to Diane and family for such a wonderful holiday.

Stunning villa and pool, highly recommended

Villa Karissa is an absolutely stunning villa and the perfect accommodation to unwind and spend quality family time together. The villa itself was well designed and equipped, with the master bedroom upstairs joined to a luxurious bathroom and dressing room. The two bedrooms downstairs were ideal for our three children. There were many different areas in which to relax and find solitude, and I particularly loved the upstairs balcony in the morning. The shaded areas had been well thought through. It was lovely to have one table by the pool where we ate lunch and another around the side near the BBQ where we often ate dinner. Gavalahori is a lovely quiet village with three tavernas, a couple of small mini markets, a pottery store and a clothing / jewellery / fabrics store run by an Australian called Melissa. The villa is only a short drive from Almyrida Beach and resort, and yet its location up in the hills and away from the tourist bustle was ideal. The landscaped gardens around the villa meant you were not overlooked and the beautiful shrubs and plants created a real haven around the pool. This was by far the loveliest villa we have ever stayed in, and the customer service from Freelance Villas was exceptional. The online guidebook to the villa and surrounding area was very helpful, and the villa was cleaned twice during our nine day stay. All in all a very lovely holiday - thank you Diane, Yianni and the Freelance Team! Literally the only thing I could suggest is to put in a covered area at the front of the house where the car is parked. Currently this is exposed and getting in the car each day was very uncomfortable. But that is all - everything else was perfect.

Villa Karissa Holiday

This villa is absolutely fabulous, everything is 5 star standard. We spent 10 nights at the villa, our family, 4 adults and 2 children, over 3 generations. It suited is perfectly, we could have our own space and also be together. The quality of the villa and it's furniture and fittings is first class. Cleanliness was superb, housekeeping did a wonderful job, and the pool was immaculate. We will certainly use this villa again.

Wonderful Villa

Beautiful inside and out, decoration was clean modern, light and airy. Fantastic outside area with a lovely pool loved by all, lots of seating and eating areas. Particularly liked having a very well stocked kitchen of glasses and plat The area around the pool does get very slippy when wet, which we warned about. Two old adults slipped and nearly fell, plus one of the girls did fall, even though not running (which they were both good at not doing). Didn’t hurt herself badly. Maybe an extra bathmat to put by the sliding doors before the living area, to help with possible wet feet going into the villa?

Fabulous Holiday 2025

This is an amazing villa in a very tranquil location. We only heard the crickets, birds and goats for a whole week, a truly relaxing place. The freshly baked local cakes left for us were a real treat and very delicious. The owner has gone above and beyond when designing this villa but it’s the finishing touches that really made it for me. Unlike other villas the kitchen was very well stocked, not just the usual 6 of everything but at least double of everything you would need and everything matched! Diane had also ensured hand soap was in each bathroom and kitchen plus plug in bug repellants so one less thing to worry about packing. After spending a week here it’s going to be very hard to find another villa that matches the quality for next year’s holiday. Would highly recommend There was nothing that disappointed us as a family.

Beautiful villa

The villa is beautifully designed and furnished and very comfortable. The kitchen was one of the most well equipped of any place we have ever stayed. The location was convenient near a lovely village and we enjoyed the local restaurants and the little museum. A nice welcome pack left and lots of very useful local information provided - the guidebook was excellent. In the interests of full disclosure, the extremely steep driveway should be disclosed to potential guests before confirmation of booking. Although the villa was very clean when we arrived, the mid stay clean might as well not have happened. Unlike other villas we stayed in, absolutely nothing was done except change the towels. The pool was not even cleaned. We also found it odd that we were expected to empty all the rubbish ourselves as this is not common practice and did not happen in any of the three other properties we rented in Crete. Nevertheless we complied as we believe in treating rental accommodation as if it was our own. Overall the tone of the instructions at the property (use of aircon/rubbish/etc) and the misleading omission of information re the driveway left an unfortunately unpleasant impression of an otherwise lovely place.
